This is my first build log, please lower any expectations of competency... The system- Raxiom (rebadged Rosen unit) HU- got it because it integrate perfectly with the factory media and had NAV. Zed Audio Mikro 4 channel Rockford Fosgate T500 bd JBL Power Series 6 1/2" components in the front front (no speakers go in the doors (I take them off as often as possible)) Bravox 5 1/4" components in the sound bar (custom made mounting ring, CLD tiles to help the flimsy plastic) SSA XCON 10" in a ported box designed by the SSA store and built with the help of my buddy. It's my (and his) first speaker box built.
  2. 85mm comparison from a Nikon guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adQHzNfvzFM Same for the 50mm here – only the 1.8, but pricewise $125 for an awesome lens is an interesting review point in particular for your budget focus https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6aF27ldYqA If you search for the 70-200 you will also find the same. Canon owns the best low end and the best high end. To me that is exactly why I own a Canon. 17-55, 50mm, 85mm in Canon budget are near L performance at Tamron prices. *also by no means is that guy a gospel, in fact I don’t like him; but it is hard to get beyond ridiculous tests that show nothing. I know I keep harping, but that is because you really should think long term about your glass needs before buying anything. It will really determine your overall expense and adoption of the hobby.

Next the box will be off to be covered in bedliner. It doesn't get too wet in the back, but I'd rather play it safe. It's down firing, I have no desire to shove a kayak paddle through the cone of a $350 sub.

    Flush mounting the XCON...

It's not a pretty install, but it's safe from the elements under the seat. ZERO noise issues.

I've never run rear fill in anything before, but the Bravox 5 1/4" components add a lot with the doors off around the firepit.

JBL woofers are in the stock location which is in very thick speaker pods behind the grill.

"Toomstone" tweet location. Had to make a zillion compromises in audio by getting a Wrangler...

HU looks stock and the integration is great, wish they put more effort into the crossover points and eq.

Yellow matches the OME shocks, trying to find paint to match Chrysler's "Rock Lobster" is nearly impossible.

Thanks! I hated getting rid of my Challenger (divorce sucks), but I'm really loving the Jeep life.
  17. Don't temp me. I decided on a finish for the box, failed miserably on the execution. It was supposed to be a dark grey hammered metal texture. I think it was too hot and it dried before it could separate to create the effect it was supposed to achieve. It came out a lighter grey and more of a gloss with a little orange peel to it. Oh well, at least it's not bare wood anymore.
  18. Because grabbing an 85 1.8 for $200 to accessorize a 50mm 1.4 for $250 would be awesome and outside of wide replace your lenses nearly completely

Measuring, measuring, cutting. Paying for the box design and getting a cut sheet and detailed plans was completely worth it. Glad to have a friend with tools and wood working skills.

Okay, so I can upload images if I email pics from my phone to my email and import them smaller... now to figure out how to rotate them. SSA XCONy goodness!!!! Dual 1 vc, I don't want to upgrade my electrical other than the Big 3 (my stock alt is 160 amps) so I'll stick to 2 ohm loads. If I'm not happy about the output from the Fosgate T500 I'll upgrade to 1200-1600 watts. Might have to go Brazilian so it fits under my seat, I do NOT want to mount an amp to a box in the rear of a Jeep.
  21. Indoor of what? Any thoughts of later buying a 1.4? Only ask because it would maybe change which 1.8 to buy. 35mm is too wide for portraits and too narrow for wide 50mm is great for face portraits inside, bodies in bigger spaces 85mm is too tight for inside IMO as you will be limited to only faces or similar sized objects without some unnatural distance You have all the above ranges though. Shoot at them and compare...pick 3 different targets and use your tripod.
  22. You need to use your remote....unless you wanted to be in the picture. Need a higher or lower fstop in that pic imo as well. Either all in focus or some drastically not. In between looks like an oops.
  23. If they are just bolted in place of the stock speakers, then you have a TON of improvement for not much money that can be done.
  24. So cute I almost had a heart attack
  25. I only carry a 45.
  26. Take a step back. No rears, no dash speakers. Unplug that shit. Will just make it sound like crap. Front speakers will be whatever impedance you buy. No matter at all what the stock are since you have an aftermarket h/u.
  27. Tuning is anything thay changes the response. Crossover, equalizer, time alignment, level balance, aiming, deadening, install, etc.... Btw, they dont sound good if you think they sound better with the rears on. Telltale sign needing help.
