  1. They can take ALOT . . Im sure they wont be seeing 10k anyway . . Ran 3500 to one zcon years ago for over a year beating the shit out of it with no problems
  2. That old Icon is getting down. Love the classic Texas music being played.
  3. Yeah i had the one 12 for a year and beat the shit out of it with a bc3500. Acted like it wanted more... Lol you remember. @Billy Jack zcons are amazing subs. If you haven't ever seen or heard one in person i suggest you try to.
  4. I wouldnt count on that saving your amp. I never wire below recommended, unless it's a burp vehicle where you can adjust for rise playing sign waves.
  5. And when I had the 18s in my van on the 2 2500s you could tell they could take so much more . . Didnt get hot and were forsure were not moving as much as they can
  6. Some nice L.E.D rope stapled to the wood would work good. And there pretty cheap now a days.
  7. Started getting the car ready for the build . Got the rear and front seats out . . About to start somewhat of a frame for the wall within the next couple days
  8. Am I wrong or does it have a rough texture, like a garage floor coating? Glad you went with my suggestion it looks great either way, but I usually wet sand, and buff it to a mirror like shine, but that's just me nothing wrong with how you done it either. I do love the way that curffed port looks that's cool. Would look really awesome with some neon lights in the back of that port lighting it up all shiny.
  9. I loved my 8 18 icons doing 157.9 at 36hz on 6500rms. Jay c and I are working on a project together and it may just be EVIL..........
  10. I would run a pair of 12" if they were the original design with the non sandwiched leads , black spiders ...only change I would want would be the higher rolling surround
  11. my last metering with the original Icons was 143.6db @ 10hz...... WITH FOUR 10"........ on a Crown A3000gti that set up was so flat the output only varied 3db from 10hz to 35hz.... the flattest response I have EVER seen with ported subs still KICKING myself in the ass for letting them go the only thing I would have changed on them would have been the surround... I was ripping them off the cone I would have went with a higher rolling surround and called it a day.... awesome woofer
  12. Still to this day I have never heard anything as clean as this version of the Icon. In the right enclosure these things are like ear sex & get unbelievably loud! My last metering with two 15's on 3500 rms was a 150db @ 32hz!
  13. I am open, but it depends on if we need to make a huge order of motor builds. Side note, the Gcon is not far at all from the original Icon.
  14. I am supprised the Kerf didn't split with the direction of the grain.... it would bend a bit easier with the outside grain going horizontal.. still a nice build though
  15. at every different height a different aiming is necessary. Reflections on a car are a bitch.
  16. When I first did some a pillars I had them at the top of the pillars and didnt really like them . Tried them down wedged in where the a pillars and dash meet and sounded alot better . . . . Guess its going to depend on which ones I get. What size they are . Yea im pretty much just looking for loud with this build. I just hate when shit is harsh. Like ear piercing . . . . . Not going for anything crazy sound quality but just Want to be able to hear the front stage while playing the subs loud with not sounding distorted or anything
  17. Also have you tried the sit normal in the car as if you were driving & have someone else hold the tweeter in different locations & different aiming angles to hear what pleases your ears. Then figure out how to make it permanent.
  18. I tried the top corners of the pillar once....was a little overwhelming. Maybe you could do a customization the the pillar similar to a F250's gauge cluster is aimed. Just tossing ideas....
  19. I wouldn't use the 2nd one of those for a tweet. Only thing you could put in there would be a second set of Evils, just make sure to cross them over to only way lower midbass where the single one could use some extra reinforcement. Tweeter you could put above the front mid or the pillar. For you I'd assume you would like it more on the pillar, but am letting the wall portion of the thread influence my decision.
  20. This: versus Reason being there are nearly no small format tweeters that can dig and play nice off axis (hint Aaron ). Opening up the search to large format if they fit is worthwhile. Your doors are HUGELY off axis so you need something with a nice response in that regard. In small format, the standard was the LPG 25nfa (now replaced) but it didn't do jack below 4kHz. The Evil mids will play nice and high, but having a tweeter that can play lower really maximizes what you can do setup wise with the processing to optimize the sound.
  21. Starting a new build tomorrow. Going over to frogcase2002's house and we are going to build the box for them inside the trunk of my car. I'll post up some pics of the process and how I like the subs overall. My setup as of now is a single 12 inch zcon d2 running at 1 ohm on a Crescendo bc3500. A singer 250 amp alternator and a sundown sae 50.4 running a set of soundqubed components. Deck is a sony for now not sure of the model number. I have a pioneer 80prs I'm going to install sometime but i have to take it out of my truck first and i wanted to wait to get some better comps and figure out the best placement in my car for tweeters. I'll post up some pics here in a few once i download the photo bucket app on my phone.
  22. This is what it will pretty much look like. Still have to do some more work on it. Getting closer just need more time.
  23. Yo man you asked if i could make a dss logo like the ssa one. I'm going to stop by my buddies house today and see if i can make one. Im going to use the team dss logo. The one with the subwoofer. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to figure it out but in order for the subwoofer to pop out the piece might have to be painted or stained. Also in that logo the dust cap has dss on it. I don't think the software will be able to recognize that with the size of the piece of wood im using. Once it turns it to G code all i can see is a rough sketch and alot of code so I'll work on it and see how it goes.. Might take me a few tries and a few visits to get it good. Worse case scenario I'll just write it on with a dremel.
  24. That guy built his piece by piece off ebay. Im currently building myself one as well.. Slow process but i will get it done.
  25. The tweet mounts are mdf and i just made them so i could test different locations. Ill make something better or just wrap or paint those once im happy. I would put more effort into the install if it were a nicer car but its just a cavalier so its hard for me to put the time and effort in to build something nice.
  26. Lol i dont really wanna post pics of my build.. Compared to these other peoples its garbage at best
  27. Ghetto tweeter mounts
  28. 72.5 square inches of port 32 hzHeight is 16 inches. Its not marked.
  29. Box design for the 2 ethos. Designed by Triticum Agricolam.. Thanks for the help man
  30. Zcon next to my buddies mtx thunder 6000. He bought my zcon.
