  1. Also, invest in a good pair of shoes. I prefer ones with interchangeable spikes, but they aren't necessary. They will help with different courses and terrain as well as different weather. Your feet need to be the most comfortable part for golf, IMO. They get a workout and are the basis for your pillar.
  2. Used clubs are SUPER cheap. Do you have a large college close by? They usually have sales at the end of the year where kids don't want to take shit back home with them. You find stuff super cheap. Notre Dame does it every year, and I've heard many other colleges do. IF not, scour Craigslist, or even a local pro shop. I got a $1500 set of Pings with only 10 rounds on them several years ago for $500. You don't need anything fancy until you start to get better, so don't fall for the special club BS. You can even get some cheap shit at Walmart or something for like $200. Find some buds to play with or hit some 9 hole courses to get acclimated, and progress towards 18 holes and progressively tougher courses. Make sure you warm up and stretch before playing also. You'll quickly find you have some muscles you weren't aware were not getting enough usage.

  7. Did I tell you guys that I volunteered at the Vietnam wall Memorial? Really grounding. I feel extremely grateful. It's been so hard and dark in my life lately. Boy did that do something. There is an app, and I used to help pull up the location of the name on the wall. People could do rubbings of the name etc. When I pull up the names, it would often have a photo, and so many times a veteran would fist bump or grab my phone and hold it. The stories were incredible and they really have no one to listen. They felt so disenfranchised, most of the volunteers were kind and sweet, but 99% were local NPR type people and they really had no empathy it seemed. Lots of sympathy, but these men had a friend die next to them in some cases.... It really made me leave that thinking about how it is important to find a way to have empathy even when I may not want to. I hope I can keep that drive to be more empathic for life.
  8. I don't think you need it. There are plenty of off-site hosting parties.
