Best amp to power a fully loaded 12in fi bl
You get what you pay for and then some with Sundown. I used to run that same amp on a T9515-44. Good amps.

Welcome to the IHoP v.2
He must have taken them down. The link is an error page.

Best amp to power a fully loaded 12in fi bl
http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/products/sundown-audio-saz-1500d-v-3.html I have two SAZ 2500's that power my Mayhem 12's beyond satisfaction.

2x2.5k's or 1x5k?
Thats true, but the starting impedance will have to do with rise... The box will be the same regardless of which route. so im pretty sure i would rise to a lower load after rise if i ran a single amp at .5ohms than ran 2 amps at 1ohm each. ^is that correct? Even so, I don't think there would be much of an audible difference if any at all.

What do I do next?
This is becoming a confusion match. You fuse your power run to rms total wattage of the amplifiers. So your amp is 1200w rms: 1200/12= 100 amps. To your issue, you should do the big 3 upgrade and check ALL of your connections. Make sure the battery is fully charged as well.

Car Audio PROBLEM!!
I think you need to check your wire to ensure there are no shorts anywhere. The sheath could have been cut or pinched somehow. Another notable thing to check would be your grounds. Make sure they are tight and clean.

Car Audio PROBLEM!!
I used 8 Gauge wire with a 80 AMP Fuse to push a 1500 Watt amp. My fuse holder melted before my fuse blew. Well Dan that's because you used wire too small to carry the needed current, that caused resistance and heat. This could be his problem as well.

Car Audio PROBLEM!!
Since the wire is melted after the fuse, I can only imagine a short circuit somewhere between the fuse holder and amplifiers. EDIT: I would disconnect the power wire until you figure out what is going on unless you wish to replace your equipment or worse.

my whole front stage is fried
The crossover is fixed @80hz, I do believe that means nothing under 80hz gets through.

Good Ground?
I see what you are saying, but it would be best to drill a hole and run directly to the frame. Be sure to use a good grommet, and you wont have any issues.
-
Alternator or Component set
I would personally get the alternator first. I like the idea of having sufficient electrical going into a project.

Grounding idea
Surely you have strut bolts in your trunk. What kind of car is this?
-
Grounding idea
There are still many good places to bolt your grounds. I think it's worth looking over before trying this idea out.
-
My system?, yep. Subs in the backseat?, yep.
having my amps screwed 2 that fold down part is bad? idk where else 2 put them, the box takes the entire trunk If you want your backseat functional, make sure the amps will clear the subs when you fold the seat back up before you mount anything.
-
Is this possible?
I have seen this happen when a short circuit occurs, or when using wire too small for current demands.

Beware! Skar Audio poor customer service
If you turn a blind eye to this kind of feedback, or pose under an assumed name, don't expect to be a name for very much longer. He may not care, I could give a shit it's not my money, and if people continue to be dissatisfied he won't be counting anything but debt collection calls. Way to run a business and conduct yourself in a public light.

Bad battery or alt
Is your belt in good condition? Tight enough to not slip?

Time for a change-Mr. Clinton?
Dual 2 wired in series parallel for a 2 ohm load for two drivers. Is this correct knowing that ill have one amp per sub?? Then you will need D1's wired in series.
