Magnet diameter or size has nothing to do with the power handling. Power handing is determined by the size, material and design of the voice coil as well as the cooling ability of the motor itself (how and where air is passed and vented in and out of the motor, etc). And really, the motor isn't all that large on the Dcon. You need to get out more

What options you may or may not need depends on your goals, needs and budget.

There is your first problem. It sounds like it's possibly an issue either with the button itself or a connection somewhere if there is absolutely no response from the HU when pressing the button. If the CD player has a detachable face, I would start simple & pull the face off & clean the contacts to make sure it's not just a bad connection.

I'm an empirical guy, so it would have been nice to see some numbers. But glad to see users with excellent things to say about the amps based on their subjective experiences regardless.

My problem is the splattering rain & wind. For some reason I get a lot more ash blowback into the Buick then I did the Olds....my guess was that the windows are twice the size so I get a lot more blowing back in. Hoping the deflectors will help that as well as block some of the rain out. Of course the intelligent thing to do would be to just quit smoking.....but I'm not there yet. Have you tried closing the window further? Usually more than 2" and that'll happen. Yeah, but then I get too much smoke blowing back into the car because the windows are really tall It's no win.

I would worry less about the subwoofer selection and more about how you plan to power a 1600w amplifier on a stock electrical with a 70A alternator.

That's what I would do since my gym doesn't have a squat rack. Unfortunately only have time to excercise about 4 days a week now.....so fuck my legs for the next month or two, just upper body until the kid's sports season ends.

Did it tear or come loose? Reason I ask is that it's unusual for the higher end JL subs to fail without some type of user error. Trying to eliminate any potential user error issues before you throw something else in there just to shred it as well.

Would like to add some go-fast parts, but that's probably not going to happen anytime in the near future.

LMAO....I guess I hadn't considered the window deflectors to be something for old people....I guess I actually thought they were more for the "hip" younger crowd. I smoke, and I want them to deflect the rain when it's raining & I'm in my car smoking. The only 4-window kit that WeatherTech sells only fits the wagons, which apparently have different rear doors I think it looks a little goofy to not have them on all 4 windows, but I guess it'll have to do if I can't find another vendor.

Ryan, Sean, Aaron, et al.... I would like to get some in-channel wind deflectors/vent visors for my Buick. JC Whitney sells the WeatherTech brand which are in-channel, but a 4-window set is $115...which seems pretty damn steep to me. But I don't know, never bought a pair before. The out of channel sets are around half that, and I don't understand why the in-channels would be twice the cost. Any other good retailers to look for that would sell these? I've tried searching around some online but most others sell out of channel only.

The measurements I've seen of the B&C drivers show the company rated "Xmax" to truly be a 2-way measurement rather than a 1-way measurement. IIRC the 8NDL51 has a "rated" Xmax by B&C of 8mm, when measurements show it's true Xmax (one-way measurement) is actually 4mm. Overall very good drivers though. 18sound makes good drivers overall as well. The one's I've seen measured all did extremely well in distortion measurements with good usable response. Faital I don't really know much about.

Memphis, but a lot pricier Really there aren't many 5-channel amps with high power on the sub channel. The other option is a Zed Leviathan 6-channel. Not 1kw on the sub channel (2-channels bridged) but a lot more power on the main channels, which to me would be a fair trade-off.
