  1. the choice is yours ! Fi btl, SSA Xcon or future Zcon, Sundown Z or nightshades,... Give more info so that people can help you better than me !!!
  2. Mi like it deh !
  3. All this drama !!! You're right !But I'm not really good on vids ! Don't even know how to post a vid in the forum, but I'll try to do it. So far, my favorite sub is the SSA Xcon : I love how accurate it is, with so much output. Second favorite, I would say the Impact 67. It's an Italian brand, and they make great products, amps, subs, speakers... The L7 is powerful, strong, but in all the enclosures I had it in I was never totally satisfied (sealed box of 2ft3,3ft3 and 5ft3, ported 3.2ft3 at 32 hz). I have to say I wanted more from my SSA Icon, but when I sold it to a friend I was amazed with how it sounded in his VW Golf tdi : fantastic !!! Same box (3.5ft3 @ 32hz, with a slot port and sub firing up). In my Toyota hatchback it sounded ok. I don't think I've ever heared a bad sounding sub in a VW Golf or Polo. the new owner of the Icon is happy like a little boy with his sub!
  4. You'll love it !!!
  5. To each his own !!! Nice work ! But I'm don't like green......................what did I say ?!!!!!!!!Oooh
  6. Hi ! Yesterday I received my 12" FI BTL N2. First thing first : the box was really heavy. They saiys Neodym would make the sub lighter, but I think it's heavier than a 15" Xcon !!! (I may be wrong, but it's 20 Kg). This sub seems small to me. I've been running only 15" subs for years now : S15 L7 kicker (in my car for now), Impact car audio 67 series, SSA Icon, SSA, Xcon. Maybe that's why I found this 12" so small !!!! Small and heavy ! I could not take pics because my new phone (BB curve 9300) doesn't have any light/flash for night pics. I was surprised to see how this thing looks like it was made by ...hands and not by machines on an automatic assembly line! You can see that some parts are not perfectly cut, they look corrected . I don't have all the words I need to explain, sorry !!! I remember that they say they had to re work on some parts because they were not like they want , at FI. So,... My box builder and installer, who runs 2 Xcons 15" on 4 saz 1000, was amazed by the stifness of ...don't know how to say it ! It looks like a small beast for him. The box is quite finished. I need to buy some carpet on lunch time, and to take off my current box the bolts terminals. Box design is coming from Bromo : 2.1 ft3 at 32 Hz with the slot port firing to the driver's side. I'll post pics tomorrow. Big big thanks to Bromo and Eclectic Designs on car Audio Forum, to Fi for an awesome driver, and Ras Marcus for the box building !!!
  7. Maybe JBLCamry here on ssa. I don't know if he's still doing designs, but he's a real pro. Bromo is a good designer too !!!
  8. I want to see the final product, for sure ! Looks like an amazing box, and I only saw the port !:fing34:
  9. You're back on track ? Cool ! Nice installs there !
  10. The single BTL would be cheaper, and in a CIvic it must be enough ! 2 BL's can be louder though !
  11. Do you know the prices we have in my country ? Any XS or any AGM battery costs an arm and a legg ! I'm starting to save some money to buy my next battery in a year or two !!!
  12. You might wait for the SSA Zcon.
  13. Try one set of components in a good install (seal all door holes, put some sound deadening material,...)and you will know if you really need more. You don't need 3000 watts to run 2 bl's, if you're looking for Sundown, the saz2500 would be fine on those subs. And they are cheaper, refurbished at db-r.com. He, even 2000 watts would be enough, with a proper enclosure. Save on amps, some brands are cheaper, save on subs/speakers, but don't try to save money on the box. Get a good custom box made for your car, for the power you will use,... I have used several boxes in my car on the same sub to know what is better for my car. Stock battery and an AGM in the back is not the best thing to do, for what I know. Put a big AGM batt under the hood with the big3 done, and see if you have voltage drops. You will upgrade later. Good luck !!!
  14. UPS picked my sub yesterday. It's on its way to Martinique, now !!! hope to receive it Friday !!!
  15. 2 JL 1000's ? Not with your budget ! If you're very limited on space, the Alpine amps are so small, you'll love them for that. But I love my Sundown amps, so... You should find good deals on used sub/amp combos. But there are some deals in the ssa store too, like the xcon sub + a Sundown 1500 amp, for example. I had it in my car, and loved it. I sold the sub because there were too much people wanting it, and I got a fantastic deal locally !!!
  16. OP : try it, just do it !!! I think you can trust Impious, he seems to know what he's talking about. You can try a box with wood lighter than 3/4 "mdf , but brace the box as much as you can. Good luck in your choice
  17. Nice...model Nice shirt too !!!
  18. How much power to destroy a pick up like you were trying to do ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. You can buy used if you're tight on budget. Get a used BTL or bl, save the cash to buy a good battery or some 0 ga wire (and connectors) to do the big3. It's hard to compare a Sundown SA to a Fi BL or an Icon : different subs, different goals, different categories. If you have a 2200 watts rms amp, you don't need to turn the gain to the max. Set the gain where the amp can play safe, without clipping your sub. You don't need to have it up high ! If you have a good box, you can be loud enough on less power than the max recommanded by the manufacturer. good luck bro ! I did not see Duran's post, but yeah : turn it down !!!
  20. Wow !:dancing:congratulations !!! I'm waiting for the same sub from Fi, even the same dustcap ! I won't use a 4000 watts amp on it but I'm sur it will bang hard with my Sundown 1500. Until I can use a more powerful amp.
  21. I have an h u with 5v outputs, a Pioneer 88prs, but with the internal amp turnt off on the h u, I have to put the gain up high. My amps work fine without overheating (and it's 30° C / 86° F) everyday where I live !!! Sorry). You just need to set the gain properly, and that's it. Let the amplifier do the job, its job !
  22. Go ported, on whatever amp you have. The Sundown is a good match , but a Zapco is a Zapco. So, it's up to you now !
  23. If you want it loud with Sundown subs, try a single Z or Nightshade. Take a look at them.
  24. You really should keep the Hertz. Install them correctly and if you don't like them, then get another set. But you don't need rear speakers. that can make you save money for wires, batteries, or even a HO alt if you want, for future uogrades. You may love the Hertz, try them first. Nothing to loose !!!
  25. You're in good hands, here. Do you really want 3 subs ? You don't need a lot of subs to sound good and loud. Keep reading on this forum and keep asking questions. You will be very happy if you take the time to "build" the right system for you AND your car ! But remember, install is everything!
