Good day kind sir!

You sure you can do that? That says North American XJ.... :P

That's where I sold my cluster with the boost gauge :)

I mentioned it mostly for fun since it was a part unavailable to the US market and useless for me since the Jeep does around 15 psi, pegs the meter on long climbs...

I was at my dad's yard all day pulling an engine and they had 11, 2008 Dodge Ram work trucks lined up along a fence. I asked him what was wrong with them as they all looked brand new. He told me they were all lemons and have to be destroyed by court order. Apparently, each one has had it's entire drivetrain replaced at least 3 times, and every truck has less than 10K miles.

Entire drive train replaced 3 times in 10K miles ?!?!?

What the hell....

What engines did they have ?

And on an unrelated note, I am NEVER ripping an engine from a van again. What a pain in the ass.

Mini van or conventional van?

No idea, I didn't look.

Ok Ford folks. Is there anything bad, or thing to specifically look for about the 5.0L and automatic or manual transmissions in the late 80's early 90's F-150s? Heck, really anything in particular to look for when checking out a F-150 of that vintage? I've never really checked one out or worked on one so I've no clue what breaks.

My dad has one of each and never had any issues other than rust. Both are farm and wood trucks and get a pretty good work out.

Full size van.

Indeed they are a big bitch, I am guessing you did a V8 then.

The ONLY issue with the 5.0, aside from the anemic stock heads, is the rear main seal. It'll make great torque down low. I was just working on my sister's truck the other day and it has 280K and has never had anything beside routine tune-up stuff.

As for the rust, they're pretty bad around the wheel arches on the bed, but you can pretty much buy every single part of the truck and rebuild it for cheap. There are several really good Ford truck forums as well with all the information you could ever need about them.
