On a serious note, has anybody installed a remote start unit? If so what would you recommend? I am looking at on for the wife's car and the dealership wants $700 to install a toyota unit.

I haven't installed but I've shadowded a few of my friends at the shop. Depending on the year it's pretty easy... If you go the full digital Can-bus system (IIRC) it can be easy, but it doesn't always go right.. They usually manually tap everything because there is less to go wrong. I use the Avital 5303 (IIRC Alarm/Remote Start) I like it, the 2 way key fob is garbage though.. The range on it sucks... Although the 1 way is much better. I like the Viper stuff, very high quality but you pay the price. I paid around 400 installed total for mine.

I was looking at the Viper systems yesterday. They are nice too.

When I do an install in my GF's car I'm probably either going to take mine out and put it in hers or get her one of the upper model Vipers, or I might go with a smart start, however the delay is around 3 seconds.

I think the smart start is neat, but my concern is how long until problems start surfacing using that system. Going to a local guys who has done a couple today and see what he has to say.

Only complaint I've heard was the delay, Haven't heard much after that.

You can install it, I have faith.. but the installers have access to VERY specific wiring guides online that lists all of them out which is a huge help.

I have no doubt I can do it, I just want to hear what they have to say. They will give me anything I need because I help them out on the audio side. To be honest I never looked into these starters, so this is new to me.

I appericate the offer and will let you know. Thank you. :)

Nem, I am sure you can do this. My in laws have had 3 remote starters installed from their completely, totally incompetent local car audio shop and have had no problems at all over that last few years. These tools have absolutely no clue what the hell they're doing and they didn't mess up the remoter starters. Example 1- in my original install the LOC wasn't wired correctly- switched the positive and negatives on one of rear channels and these fools couldn't even find that out. Example 2- they didn't even bother to use the "weather stripping" type tape on the mid of the component system to seal it to their adapter plate- which didn't even fit well. You can do it, no problems.

LoL @ "please don't"

Better than Chill?

As for the pussy for breakfast thing I had automatically thought it was Sean or Seth who did that.

LMAO.

I had some for supper yesterday, does that count ? laugh.png

If it's that girl from your Facebook post, yes.

The one in black :)

And the bumper finally got to the courier which is supposed to carry it from Germany to Romania. They are very reliable and very cheap.

Who would've thought it would take a german shipping company from November 29th to today to ship a package within Germany ?

Won a coffee basket at my daughter's art school fundraiser, finally got a french press. I'm liking it, now to get a grinder and start grinding my own beans.

You are going to puke at the price of real grinders. Hard to find anything worth a shit under $250

Only an idiot would spend $250 on a coffee grinder, and I don't care how "good" it is--that's ridiculous.

Criminals could also easily misuse it—which is why Wilson says the MVT will be supplied to approved customers only. Read more: The Ultrahot Torch That Slices Through Steel - Metal Vapor Torch - Popular Mechanics

Once they are available I wonder what one would have to do to get one.
