  • Well I haven't been making much progress on this, but I got a little done. Working 12 hour days sucks, I've been looking for work closer to home so I don't have to drive 3 hours each day. Anyway, I ha

  • Ok, finally an update! I mounted the buss bars in the trunk. They are mounted just under the trunk latch between the tail lights. I made up some cables and connected all the rear batteries together

  • I really didn't like how the cabling came out so I pulled them out and rerouted them. I think it looks much better this way.

Thanks! I'll have an update tomorrow, doing some resin 45's in the box and some more sanding on the kicks. Just haven't taken any pics yet.

A little progress was made today. Started doing resin 45's in the box. Once those are done I'll give the inside a little sanding to smooth out the resin on the walls.

Looking good man. Love all the attention to the details. Should be sweet when you finish.

Thanks guys!! Hopefully after New Years I can get back to work on it. All the Christmas decorations are stacked around my box and workbench so they are trapped. Once that stuff goes back up into the attic, its on!!

Nice selection of tools you have there!! I am a tool junkie :) Good job with your router!

Hmmmm....... Your sub enclosure looks awfully tight for those 15's. Resin, bracing and 45's can east a lot of space in an already tight box. Your ports look very close to the walls which may affect your tuning frequency. Hope your subs do not get choked with your box and a solid 3000wrms.

You say your alt is running at 15.6v? That is way too high for those XS Power batteries. They insist that 14.7v max to insure battery longevity and performance. Did you check into that? At max current draw you might be approaching 900-1000 amps. You have two runs of 1/0 positive front to rear? If so that might not be adequate for your systems power demands. I would do four runs each of 1/0 positive and negative minimum.

I am tuned in! Good luck man!

Thanks! Yea, I like having those tools. They certainly come in handy when you need them!!

I have a switchable MLA, for now I have it at 14.6, but the other setting is 15.2. I think when I initially metered it I got 15.6, but that drops down to 15.2 fairly quickly as the alt heats up. I don't think it will be pulling that much current from the front. But if I start popping fuses, I'll run more cable for sure. I have a bank of 5 XSPower batteries in the spare tire well where the amps will be connected to. The alt only produces 250amps and there is just the one battery up front. Both runs of + are fused at 300 so the cables won't cook if it does try to feed more. Inside the enclosure where the ports terminate, they are pointed away from the walls and are at least 6 to 7 inches ( I can't remember exactly how much ) away from the walls, so they should be ok. The enclosure is over 8cf gross and like 5.8cf net after subs, dowels, resin and ports. Thats about spot on with what Jacob recommended for these subs, between 5 and 6cf.

Great Job!!! Allways worth the extra work!!

Thanks !! It sure is taking longer, but I'd rather enjoy it later than mess something up by rushing.
