I am going to go through and drop the SAZ-1000D, SAE-1200D, SAZ-1500D, SAZ-2000D, SAZ-3000D, and SAZ-3500D in the Jeep and do a power clamp test so we have a rough and UNIFORM comparison between the amps in the same setup.

Test Frequency - 50 Hz

Test Load - 4x SA-12s all in parallel for 0.4375 DCR (1/2 nominal)

Test Electrical - 6x Stinger SPV-70 + 225-Amp Alternator (vehicle only at idle)

Amp gain set to 1/2 - Head Unit Sub Control 10/10 - Head Unit Volume 50/50

Setting gain to half on each amp is, of course, not an exact match... but for the sake of roughly comparing the amps I think it serves the purpose.

*** - Measured different day from other amps (8-4-09), batteries had full charge so sustained less voltage drop.

These are not necessarily definitive tests on the amps.

All applications are different and I could have probably squeezed more out of an amp here or there... but for the sake of this test I just set the gain knobs to physically 1/2 way up.

Just a rough guide to show what the amps can do!

I may go back one day and do an SPL comparison as well -- as we have seen up to 1 dB increase from the 3000D to the 3500D even though the power test doesn't seem to indicate as much. With the SPL portion I would sit down and tweak knobs until I got maximum SPL per amp.

I tested amps from smallest to largest (for the most part except 1200D was tested last) -- so the batteries did not have a complete full charge by the time I got to the big amps, just a few minutes of alternator charge time... that just means the bigger amps will produce more than posted if I had a complete charge. This was mentioned on another forum so I thought I would post it here as well.

SAZ-2000D Complete -- almost exactly 500 more watts as the rating would suggest even with a bit more voltage drop.

Now that is some very informative "real world" testing.

Great job!

Sundown FTW! :drink40:

Indeed :) You will note in the test that my power clamp / voltage clamps takes some time to settle in... this is because it ignores the inrush peaks that would get picked up by a "peak hold" measurement. These are much more accurate figures - about as good as you will get with clamps.

lol it looks like you stabbed the power and ground wires with your test props lol!! that is awesome!! (but i guess it is also the most accurate!)

the 2000D is a beast of an amplifier :fing34:

SAE-1200D Added.

Produced 1770 watts but created more voltage drop than the 1500D did to produce 1970 watts.

could you break this down for a newb. what this means. and how the saz 2000d will perform on my 2 xcons at 1ohm? does it mean it will push more than 1000rms to each sub?

just checking which is the most under rated SAZ..

1000D - 104%

1500D - 131.3%

2000D - 122%

3000D - 109.3%

3500D - 104.6%

I love my 1500Ds :)

Amp gain set to 1/2 - Head Unit Sub Control 10/10 - Head Unit Volume 50/50

got a question, with the above settings, wouldn't this cause alot of distortion during the burp? and possibly resulting in less power output?? or could it be more?

i have a Pioneer HU, Soundstream 10V preamp, and an Audiocontrol 6XS crossover.. the gain on my pair of strapped 1500Ds is set to the minimum (least sensitive). all bass controls are set flat.

i get my best SPL score by burping at 31/62 on the headunit.. when i try burping at 36/62, my score decreases..

i figure the reason for the lower score at 36/62 is because the amps are distorting.. could that be true?

(i have a 140A alt with 2 powermaster AGM batteries)

wow those saz2000 sure are tanks! i can't wiat to go pick mine up and install it!!! lol!!

and those damn sae1200's are also awesome!! 147.5% under rated lol!

are you going to do the saz4500 also?

Edited by CrazyKenKid

do it again all the tests with a single battery and the engine off (no alternator) ;)

I am loudest in SPL at 50/50 on my head unit -- tested it many times :)

Cannot do that in my Jeep -- all six batteries are under my amp rack connected together with a fixed aluminum bar.

Ray farmer has done testing with two batteries and engine off on the 3500D (Street-C dB Drag Style) -- which I linked for you already.
