how can i tell if i have 2 or 4 ohm coils if it dont say on the woffer

Edited by danstow1

i think you can hook a meter up to it and find out that way. most of the woofers say what ohm it is either on the magnet or on the side of the basket

What kind of subwoofer is it? There's very few mainstream subs that don't give that information in either the model # or on the rear of the sub.... alot of the times the model # will have it included such as SWR-1222 (12" dual 2 ohm)..... otherwise subs like my Fi Q's have it written on the coil and it can be read through the vents above the magnet top plate....

Get a mulit meter and set it to ohms, touch the probes together and then hook up to the connections on the speaker.

Sweet thanks guys

Ya the DMM are a must. If you get one, might as well get the clamp version. They come in handy.

You can find a sufficient DMM from SEARS etc. for under $20.
