What do you guys think the best amp would be for my

SSD 15 - Copper Coil - DVC 2 Ohm

I was looking at the hifonics brutus 1209d - (1200 rms @ 1 ohm ) - $174 shipped

The owner of an audio shop down the road from me said that he had a planet audio amp for $200 that puts out 900 rms @ 1 ohm.

Thats my two options right now that i'm looking at.

I don't really need anything above 1k RMS because its not really needed for my SSD Right??

I don't really want to spend much over 200, but if you guys think that those two options above aren't good at all i'll reconsider.

I just wanted to run it buy some of you guys for advice before I drop this money on an amp.

ALL information is GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

well first of all it sounds like this is going to be a daily driver and your buget being 200$!! do you plan on upgrading your setup in the future? like adding another 15inch sub down the road!

and this is your sub correct?

Ya its a daily driver, i don't realy want ANY strain on the subs, (Friend just burnt his voice coils so i'm a lil , scared)

Aslong as the subs are capable of taking the power i'll give it to them,

And that sundown looks badazzzzzz, but i don't have 270 currently, and i don't think i'll really need 1200+ rms going to the sub?

Can it take that?

Ya i can get a 1210D aswell.

(the 1208, 1209, 1210 i believe is the year it is. 1209 = 2009 1210=2010.

sure it can! but for how long is the question lol!!

LOL i don't know really i know i am not an Fi kind a guy lol!!! i would wait for someone else to chime in who has a ssd! but right now i am all for that hifonic for that one sub!

as for burning a voice coil he could had the gain on his amp set way to high and jsut clipped the hell out of it lol! who knows! or maybe a weak sub!

from what i have heard the Fi subs can take a bunch of power but i don't know about the ssd.

Ya most likely, he had my old system

2 Rockford Fosgate p1 (12s) , ya he was pushing them hard.

SSD 15 is rated for 800 rms, so 800-850 should be fine. (i'm sure they can take more than that)

An the hifonics should be able to do that without killing itself.

Thanks for the advice man.

no worries and remember you can always turn the GAIN down!!!

As long as you do the big 3, you will be fine. It will help any amp perform at its best. I have a hifonics right now and it wails my BTL but I also have a nice alt too! :woot:

And if you are looking to spend only $200 then quality is not a big concern no? If thats the case you can find quite a few.

I did ask if the two amps listed above were 'quality' enough to comfortable give it the 800-850 rms it needs. . .

The 1200 rms hifonics should, give it 850 comfortable right?.

I'm just checking, i'm *assuming* it should.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

I'm here for your guys advice.

-And yea, I AM A have to shell out a few bucks for the 0 gauge wire.

You never want to assume such an acute number range but yes it will be underrated. How much? Who knows? Thats why I said what I did cause you just hope for the best with a cheaper amp.

I know mine is close to 2000 but Im not sure. I have a 250amp alt and 1/0 gauge going right to the amp so Im hoping for the best.

I know its close because its under the best scenerio for its power consumption. We all know they wont put out rated at a normal 13.8 driving voltage. Maybe not even at their rated 14.4. But mine is about 14.6-14.7 just about all the time. So at optimal conditions I should say, hope its 2000. What more could I do?

I never KNOW for sure about close unless its horseshoes and handgrenades. fing05.gif

Exactly! I work in HVAC and have been eyeing a sale for fluke anytime now. They are very nice.

lol if you bid on mine i will come down there and kick your bum lol!!! :)

get the 1209 or an Audiopipe ap1500d which is 150 shipped on ebay. I just got one for the girlfriend. I will say that the SSDs will take much more than 800 watts. I have had the 1206 and the 1606 on a 12" ssd.

Save money for a higher quality amplifier, or buy used.

I got a friend selling a

Hifonics 1608D for $190 usd.

I would scrap hifonics personally. There is a sale on the Sundown SAE-1200D brand new, very good customre service and very underrated.

I loved to get a sundown ^-^ but i ain't in wal-greens livin in a perfect world.

This is only my second system so i plan on upgrading after a few months and money saving.

I went ahead and got the hifonics 1608d, got it for $175. didn't think i could beat that anywhere.

(once i seen the p1500, i did really wana look into it but i alraedy had the other amp)

The amp gives it i think either 800 or 925 i forgot the math i did but for the 30volts i needed on the channel i got it at about half way turned up on the gain/level.

The sub slamsss, and can take soooooooo much more! I just don't really feel like blowing a voice coil :/

Fi SSD 15 5*/5* imo
