I want to know what the damping factor is @1 ohm, 2ohm and 4ohm

also wnat to know how many amps the amp takes from the electrical system at all ohms, should be ok on my stock alt 100amps

are you interested in theoretical numbers? or real life numbers? and also at 1ohm will you be using it at a full 1200 nad at 2ohm a full XXXX and at 4ohm XXX?

just the most amps it will ever pull from my alternator from either 3 of the ohms.

@ 1 ohm I'd be running a Mach 5 IXL 12" so no not full 1200 but might in the future if i get a better sub such as an Xcon or a Fi Q fully loaded

but yea i just want to know how much amps it will take in real life numbers from the alt at full tilt at all ohms

eg: 1ohm = 80 amps MAX pull from the alt cranked up

2ohm = 60 amps MAX

4ohms = 45 amps MAX

just want to make sure my alt will be fine for some years and also if I'm ready to get 2 batteries or 1 really good one ;)

Nobody really can give you those numbers, go buy a voltmeter and make sure you upgrade the Big 3, if your still having voltage issues than a secondary battery is needed (best way to tell, since it will be real life).

i had to get a spare battery when i had one. they tend to be pretty hungry but the do more than rate.

Just wire it at 1 ohm and turn the gain down if you don't want full output from the amp, to the point where the alternator doesn't stress. No need to make it any harder than it has to be.

Will an sae1200v1 clip if it is receiving a clean signal but has its gain set to the max?

The reason I ask is, when I set my headunit to 30/40 i have to turn my sae1200's gain to the max just to get 1000w (30v). this was done with test tones w/ the sub plugged in.

Does your head unit have a sub control as well ? If so, turn that up to get more RCA voltage and back the gain down.

No it doesn't, its a full range pre-out.

Will the sundown sae1200v1 filter out ALL frequencies above its range? like, it doesn't just stop its filtering at 500 hz or something, right?

I was originally using my AUX port (plugged my ipod in) to play the tones, and I changed it to the USB port. This boosted the signal from the hu a lot!

I set the gains by playing a 50hz 0db test tone without the sub plugged into the amp's speaker terminals, I set it to 30v. Then I set the lowpass to start at 70hz and the subsonic filter to start at 35 hz.

I turned the car off, then plugged the speaker terminals into the amp. then lowered the volume on the HU and played the test tone (putting my DMM in the extra - and + holes of the amp)

and the voltage the amp was putting out was outrageously high! Before I had the headunit turned to 30/40. This time at around 20/40 the amp was putting out 35v, wtf?

did I do something wrong to make the voltage so much higher?

Normally it drops when loaded down... so I'm not sure... that is kinda weird.
