I purchased my amplifier from Db-r, The day i got it i hooked it up it blew and started smoking. I sent it in to Db-R they fixed it; The guys at Db-R said the power input was soldered too long and it burnt up and smoked my power supply. They replaced everything under warranty. Today (12/25/09) I opened my Saz-3000d and was just looking around at Sundown's beautiful job at designing/making amplifiers and found this.DSC01005.jpgDSC01002.jpg as you can see the MOSFET's most are soldered in on the top, but there are a few that are not. Is this something to be worried about?

I wouldn't be surprised if they're soldered to keep the screws in.

Might also be a warranty thing too.

But I'm just speculating

How bout you contact db-r.com and ask him since he would know more than speculation since he did the work on it, he will be able to tell you more since he does this for a living whether or not something likes odd or not. That is what I would do

The top eyelet may have been burnt by the original failure -- in which case they cannot be soldered on top. There is another eyelet on the bottom and they are soldered to that.

Happens a lot of times and absolutely nothing to worry since the important trace is on the bottom, the top eyelet is not part of the actual trace.
