Yea they have some 200 subs on backorder due to a customs issue. They will adress this as soon as they can. From what I have seen they are very quick to respond to issues, when time is allowing of course.

this same sub 2-3 weeks earlier the dustcap fell off. I have gotten a responce from fi. I will be shipping the sub out asap. Here are the pics of the sub. Anyone have any idea what could have happened to the sub? I have 2 fi q 10's in a shared airspace box. The box is 2.75 ft^3 box tuned to 32hz. powered by a rd audio 1750.1 subsonic set to ~25hz fi is saying over-excursion. let me know what you think.

Have you been playing below tuning or anything below 30Hz at high levels?

We have tons of customers running Qs and Havocs in enclosures tuned to 32Hz with subsonics around 25Hz, never seen a surround fail like that.

With those specs and the subsonic set at 25hz, you have to be playing war of the worlds shit to even get near over-excursion.

I have to agree with this, but I also have to agree that given the enclosure and ssf were accurately tuned and set that it shouldn't have over-excurted in the first place to cause that kind of damage.

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure that the enclosure is tuned very near 32hz? If your tuning is off on the high side you could be driving them past their limits fairly easily. Also, if the box has ANY air leaks it could also cause the enclosure to have lack of cone control and cause the same problem. You have to remember that even a ported enclosure controls the cone's movement, as long as you're above tuning or don't have any leaks. If there's any leaks or you drop below tuning it no longer controls cone movement and the subs will play as if they're in free air.

There is no other way to cause a surround failure like that besides over excursion. The audio gods didn't smite your Q.

As everybody has said looks like you are unloading the woofer below tuning. Are you using any Bass Boost on the amp or loudness on the hu?

This is the enclosure. I didnt really know where to start the measurement of port length so I went all the way to the straight. box area is 2.75 calculated in autocad.
