Posted April 2, 201015 yr i had needed to get guided in the right direction on purchasing an h/0 alternator. just need to know how big of an alt i need to get to run 4000 rms (2 subs) or 2000rms (1 sub) thanks!!!!
April 2, 201015 yr check out my sig and then call DC Power.I'm thinking of going with Mechman. I've got a 97 Explorer, DC Power has a 230 amp for $429 and Mechman has a 270 amp for $399. From what I've heard, Mechman's alternators are also high quality large case, though I've never bought one from either company.
April 2, 201015 yr What do you mean didn't do anything at idle? If it wouldn't work then the car would not continue running. Or do you mean that it just did not produce 270A.
April 2, 201015 yr today was the day i got my DC power XP 275 alt in.....fired it up and meter read 15.3v

What batteries and other electrical will be acquired?
April 3, 201015 yr i've witnessed\personally dealt with both companies.DC is the way to go.I should know.. i should have an early birthday sometime soon.... Gotta keep it secret but if all goes well.. my car is about to break a record in the alternator market
April 3, 201015 yr I would look at igaggi you can get a 260 amp for 399 I think or close to that or dc the only two I use.
April 3, 201015 yr Have you asked anyone to custom build it for you to what you need? Try Iraggi on ebay. Contact him and ask how large he can build it for you. Cant hurt to ask.
