Since there seems to be an "old school"(though I personally hate that term FWIW) faction here, I was hoping that some people would post up pics of their old/first systems. I know that when I got into car audio, early nineties....it was pretty much DIY or pay a shop big money. Me being broke I taught myself and eventually got MECP certified. I have had countless systems over the years, but a hard drive crash has left me with only a few pics of some of my earlier systems.

So.......

Here is my S10 blazer circa 1993....yep ten inch subs for midbass.....didnt work out quite like I planned, but the two 15"s on an Autotek 7300 would pop a quarter about five feet off the roof(flex) of the blazer with the right tone. Ended up selling the 15's and just ran the two tens(and got almost all my cargo space back)....I guess that was the beginning of me getting old.

BlazerFifteens.jpg

That was my second vehicle...will have to look for a pic of the first...Autotek 7204 bridged on two Orion XTR 12's in a Nissan 720D KingCab wedge box right up againist the seats....gotta love a good back rub.....lol.

Few more of a system my cousin and I built around the same time.....

johnsystemunder.jpg

johnsystemdone.jpg

Nothing really to "see" since then anyway.....we both had our systems ripped off, everything has been completely stealth since. Though I do have a mind to do a removable quad 15" setup with two Autotek 7600's for my dually toy hauler. It currently has an biamped ESX setup(60.4, 475.1) with Orion NT 8's and 1's, and a prefab under rearseat box with two SoloBaric tens. It's plently loud, great SQ, but a good burp would be fun every now and then.....

Both are first gens....both were running kicker comps...the old ones obviously...

Is that a first gen or second gen s series truck with the kicker set up?

This was my first real system, in my first Ram.

ALlthewayinsittinright.jpg

Then I had some issues with that Ram and getting impounded and not getting it back.

So I bought another Ram, just like it, and started over again.

Got the Truck then got all this from a friend for $175 and then traded amp to Jacob at Sundown.

IMG_0345.jpg

This was my whole system for a while.

Temporary system in my old Ram, was trying to sell the woofers for a friend.

2 L7 15"s on 2 SAZ-1000's

System after; same truck, all mine.

2 RE MT 18"s on 2 SAZ-1000's followed by a single SAZ-2000.

Then I went from the wall to this, and gained a few db.

Then, the transmission on the Ram went out. They wanted 3k to fix it, I declined and sold it. And bought the vehicle that got me over a 150.

This was in the hatch of an Escort GT with 8-12's. No decent pics of the wall and this one is a picture of a pic. Sorry for the poor quality.

The only system I have a picture of, this is the first box I ever built though :dancing: (too small port but tuned at 26hz still moved some air)

med_gallery_7913_250_37129.jpg

3-12" Kicker CVX's with 5.79ft^3 @ 25.94hz, the biggest amp I had on here was a Profile AP1200 bridged.

Good topic, going to pin it while it is active.

He might not....But I do!! Big surprise huh? For a while there those were going CHEAP on ebay, so I started a collection of those too. Didnt post in the "other" collection thread cause they arent Zed. But I have more than a few...a conservative guess would be about 15' worth...lol....love those because they stack end to end so well. Unfortunately if I dont find a decent job soon, those will probably be the first to go up on the chopping block....the 7600's would be last of course....lol

No I sold the whole vehicle after about 2 years of competing. That was a good while ago...

Don't blame you for collecting them, they had great power. I broke into the 150's with those amps, but of coarse I understand the meters are not as easy as they use to be.

Would love to see the PG collection.

Will do, but it will take a couple days to get the PG amps together. I have 3 or 4 m44, couple m100(I think....I had a "friend" that stole some stuff from me, mostly computer...still not sure what all he got though), and several m50 and m25. I also have around five or six ms or mps amps(both grey and white)...nothing bigger than a 275 though....the big ones cost too much.....lol

What I really really want is a purple orion nt. I picked up a couple XTR(the red cousin) sinks and a couple 425 hcca boards to make a couple "frankenamps". Still havent gotten around to doing it though. On of my most rare pieces is an UNCUT orion red xtr sink...still havent decided what to do with it.....something along the lines of the 97.1 though(another amp I would love to have along with the 97.3...but again...they still just go for too much). I could have five of the PG amps for what one Orion Concept or purple NT amp might cost.

I know the feeling. I regret selling some amps in the past, and never coughed up the big bucks for one of the larger ones that seem to have an aura that grows every year making the legend even bigger all the while the internal CAPS are getting older too. ;)

Yeah I really need to "thin the herd" some. Ideally I would like to get down to a couple "sets" of amps as I hate passive xovers and almost always run active setups. Some of the older ones will get a trip out to Mr. Mantz for a refresh/upgrade. Eventually all of them I decide to keep will get the treatment...in a perfect world. I also have a lot of Sony ES/XES, but with carputers getting better(along with the software), I really dont see the sense in keeping all the sony stuff....well, I'll keep a complete XES just to display...lol..yeah, I know......Hello. My name is Nathan, I have an addiction....heheh.....

I did pull out two M44 amps, can see a few more but need my ladder to get to them....

Yeah...Ive got too many to count.....even have some drawn up in autocad...the whole nine yards.....then of course I sold the car/truck. Ive finally settled down some on what I like to drive, so finally I'll get a chance to go all out like I did in the old days....

sorry no system pic here(install was mostly stealth...stock headunit in place with sony es hidden in console, and amp under box with active cooling)...but this was my second nissan that i got a little carried away with modifying....lol.....system was two kicker 15's and that same autotek 7300.... pic is from about 94.....yeah.....i have no excuse for the bed.....but it sure was fun!!!...and yeah, that is static lowered....i took out many a speedbump....lol...ahh the good old days....I'm the non blonde fwiw....

I am surprised I havent seen more motorized stuff on this and "other" boards. Little trick....power window and power seat motors and their gear can easliy be adapted with a set of ball bearing drawer guides you can get at the hardware store. I did one system like that, but it was for a customer...didnt keep the pics....didnt want to....if you know what I mean. St. Louis can be a rough town....lol... if you have the room, an old flywheel on a lazy susan rotary with a power window motor can make for a cool spinning display...the wiring you gotta figure out yourself..... :drink40:

motorized panels are a must for stealth....imo

Hey Andrew

How many cubes in that box?

my first system was back in 1989 and it consisted of a pioneer tape deck/am fm receiver and some house speakers[ technic]with seat belts around them, lol oh the good ole days!! wish I had a pic cause it was funny,

My first system was a Polk audio db 12 in a 1 cube seald box powered by a crunch 500.2. Had some realy horible 8 gauge too. My speaker wire had more copper. Lol. Now I have a fi q 18 in a 7.8 cube seald(soon to be ported :) ) with a cheapo kenwood kdc-138 that some how has more features than my friends $200 alpine. And I am saving for a aq 1200 d. Il get some pics of my old system soon

my first system is actually sitting in my garage still. Pioneer DEH-P6300 infinity components, kenwood KAC-7202, Audiopipe 10 in a sealed box and a kenwood 9102 for the sub.

sold radio in the old car

sold the mono

still trying to sell sub and comps

the 7202 powers up but doesn't send signal through the terminals. trying to fix that.

i loved the system even though it was pretty crappy sounding. the audiopipe is just dirty bass.

whole system cost $3000 from a buddy. fun stuff for my old cavalier. still miss that little car for how loud it could get with simple small systems

Yeah....I kinda figured as much....couldnt get much better than the old Sony ES. Like I said, I know I have dealt with at least a couple people on here at some point in time...maybe more. I still love the ES, but for example....I have a C90 in my truck....and the display is shot....Im sure I could get it fixed(maybe do it myself)....but at what cost and how long before it breaks again? Source units arent like amps....they get manually used and parts wear out alot faster. I have several headunits, changer, processors.....about half of which work....and who knows for how long? Is it worth the time to install them? NOT a big fan of Sony Service either....any good Sony ES techs out there?

There are a couple of old Sony ES fans on here. :)
