Posted November 16, 201014 yr My next system is going to be a single 18 setup on 3000watts.So far the plan was to go with the Fi BTL, but the more I read about the Xcon, the more I want one.The only problem I have is that I am worried that it couldn't take 3000 daily. I would be easy on the gain, I just don't want to fry such a beautiful piece of equipment.EDIT: (Spelling) Edited November 16, 201014 yr by Dutchie.
November 16, 201014 yr You could get two 12" for these 3000 watts. They will not need more room than the 18".
November 16, 201014 yr If you have to ask then you probably shouldn't. 3kws is a lot on a 1750rms sub.
November 16, 201014 yr Admin A single Xcon does not have the cooling for that much power. But we are working on an answer. The BTL is an excellent option.

November 16, 201014 yr I have no doubt it can take more than rated, but I dont think it will take that kind of power. From what I have been told it does not have the cooling to do so.It's just not that type of sub and is not marketed as such either.

November 16, 201014 yr Author Okay thanks guys. And is that a hint at a new option to the SSA line?? Something than can handle more power?!?

November 17, 201014 yr REALLY, REALLY stupid to pick a power and then want to run it "daily". You could just run 2k and NOT EVEN HEAR ANY DIFFERENCE AT ALL from 3k. In fact you'd never know. Or you could run something more efficient on even less power and be as loud or louder. For a non-competition the only reason to run 3kW is to compensate for a lack of manhood so you can tell your so called friends that you are cool and have 3kW. In the future make a real thread with goals and a direction or just don't make one.
November 17, 201014 yr I piss 3k daily lol and no, the XCON will melt hahaSMD's can't even take 3k lol.
November 17, 201014 yr Y are u set on 3kw? Im assuming u already have an amp...? Just get 2 12"s as satated above.
November 17, 201014 yr I piss 3k daily lol and no, the XCON will melt hahaSMD's can't even take 3k lol. They can't even take 3 watts

November 17, 201014 yr run the 3k amp and turn the gain down. If you want incredible sound that can play loud get the Xcon. If you want a incredibly loud woofer that has the potential to sound good get the BTL.
November 17, 201014 yr Not many woofers can take 3Kw daily, burping is a different story, but it's easy so smoke even a BTL on that kind of power if you don't know what your doing.
November 19, 201014 yr one of the installs I have worked on has a pair of 15" Xcons runningoff of 6500w rms daily...take in mind the gains are set correctly, the amp is getting enough juiceand the box is bang on I would not recommend this to every Joe on the street ..the operatorhas to know when enough is enough ( most don"t ).....I would recommendrunning a pair of Xcons for warranty and pocketbook purposes the only sub I have ever used that can take 3KW all day long is the Orion HCCA...I could not blow that thing with my big JBL/Crown gti amp...pulled a 147dbwith a single 12" in a chevy xcab...LOL
December 26, 201014 yr I did over 3k for an entire competition season. 30 seconds at a time at or above 3k on music.Burped it over 4k. 151.2 @35hz Edited December 26, 201014 yr by cunokyle

December 26, 201014 yr if u have to ask, then lower your goals...If you are set on doing it.. get it and when it blows, well u know what...Go ahead and find out how people safely run large amps on subs..I ran 7kw for half a year on a 1000wrms sub... I never damaged them...It was 3 15s on 21,000w. I never played it long either... There are many factors involved in knowing really how much power the sub(s) is receiving, the current it is accepting, the excursion levels, time of play that's safe, etc...^^^ i know a sub that can handle 7kw of amp rated power for over 40 min straight.. but that's not on topic with this thread

I have roughly 7000 watts to feed 2-18's but they must be a very clean sub and it appears this is one....I could not blow that thing with my big JBL/Crown gti amp...pulled a 147dbwith a single 12" in a chevy xcab...LOL
