I have a 12" bl with a kicker zx1000.1 and an optima red top for a battery and even with the gain only half way up I am getting headlight dimming and my amp is clipping. I have a friend with the same amp and the 15" bl and his doesn't clip and he has a weaker battery so I have no idea why mine keeps clipping.

Do you know how much your voltage is dropping? If not purchase a dmm. Also have you done the big 3 yet?

No I'mnot sure and I haven't done the big 3 yet but will be hopefully soon

Also, you have to adjust your gains to match the input voltage coming from your head unit. If your head unit has a higher preamp voltage than your friends, your amp could clip at a lower gain setting than his.

I know you checked already but just have to make sure. Make sure there is no paint on your ground spot. Take off the ground sand it down until theres no paint then tighten it back up.

Also, make sure you all your connections are okay. RCA's, speaker wire on the sub may of come loose at high volumes.

Good question, I kinda doubt that amp would handle any load under 2ohm to begin with, but perhaps it's wired lower and that's the problem

My sub is a dual 1 ohm wired to 2 ohms

Icould push all four off my window roll up buttons and the lights would dimm haaa soo its jus that the vehicle needs the big three big batt and big alt at least with my btl

What else could be making the amp shut off?

Overheating, short between the speaker connections, wring lower than your amp can handle, Lots of reasons. Recheck your actually wired to 2 ohms not half an ohm. A cheap DMM at either harbor freight or radioshack will run you Rond 20 bucks or less... It's a needed investment

i think you're mixing up the amp going into protect and clipping... your gains are probably set to high with not a strong enough electrical system to back it up.

I think thats preety normal, In all 3 of our veicles (Cadillac escalade with 2 batteries, bmw stock electrical, and dodge nitro suv) the same thing happens.
