Posted May 26, 201114 yr I decided to make the switch to these from my Image Dynamics X69s. The X69s were awesome because they were a breeze to install. They did not come cheap though. My biggest gripe with them is that well they basically kept falling apart on me. I had the voice coil separate from the cone three times. Yes I was giving them way beyond the recommended power, but the coils still never even smelled, the speaker just came apart. I was able to sell the pair to cover the cost of these speakers and some luckily. First impressions unwrapping, the cone is not a beauty to look at lol. I wasn't expecting much, but next to the X69s the cone looks, well cheap. The basket and motor are a different story though. Basic, yet nice. And after dealing with the X69, obviously looks aren't everything because those things are a piece of art. I am very impatient so I just hooked up free air right away before finishing my baffle, didn't seem that loud (this is off ~35 watts). Finished up my baffle mounted and we are in business. Speaker has no problem getting louder then the X69, not too much but it is noticeable (off half the power). So far I only have one side mounted (I made 2 baffles, and turned out I needed to double baffle each side lol) but I am very impressed. It sounds very nice, maybe even better the X69. This of course is with the Ms8 tuning for the X69, and only one side to judge. I will update when I get the other side in and re-tune. (And eventually get my sub amp, so I can get really give them some power) Needless to say I am very excited.
May 26, 201114 yr the cone is not a beauty to look at lol. I can't tell that, there are no pics! LOL!!Congrats on the NEOs!!
May 26, 201114 yr Cool stuff :drink40: I didn't spend any time worrying about fancy looks on them -- simply a quality cone with good frequency response
May 26, 201114 yr Author Sound > Looks lol... Sefugi here is a quick shot, I will have more later tonight and tommorow.

May 28, 201114 yr Author I got the other one in today. I will hold off on a review until I have a few hours of listening time, but lets say for now I am very pleased.
May 28, 201114 yr Who cares what it looks like when it's covered by your door panel?X2The only thing I don't like about the looks is the surround. Wonder why Jacob went with the "W" shape.Waiting to see what you say about their performance.
May 28, 201114 yr hey ram screw you man jp. i just thought they would look a little cooler it looks like an eminence or how ever you spell the name.

Wonder why Jacob went with the "W" shape.Waiting to see what you say about their performance. It's a cloth PA style surround -- those are generally in W or multiple ridge shape. They are lighter and more efficient for this type of driver.
May 28, 201114 yr Making it "look cooler" with a cone coating, different cone, different surround, different dust cap, etc... would make it sound worse or at the least make no change and cost more. Same with a "cool looking" frame -- the one used supports all the throw we need and these are super light so no need for cast. Anything else would be throwing money down the drain, IMO.

I think we all know performance is what matters, especially when the driver is hidden anyways. Edited May 28, 201114 yr by The727Kid
May 28, 201114 yr Yea my bad no offense to sundown I know its a great product! And I have now learned a little something.
May 28, 201114 yr No problem Glad you like the sound of them !If these sell well I may design a more high-end version of this line as well -- just need to see if this type of thing will sell well for us

May 30, 201114 yr Author I dropped the speakers down to 63@24dB today. Going to drive around for a day or two with it this way but I think it might be a little low for the speakers, might try 70 @ 24dB. But right now my door panels can not handle it too well with volume even at 15/26, still need to deaden them. Tons of mid-bass coming from these guys.
