Posted November 18, 201113 yr So I plug in the ground and it fine. Then I plug in the power and it starts to fry. The same thing happens in vise versa.What could becausing this? He has a 99 camry, his amp is a Hifonics Titan 750.2.
November 18, 201113 yr you say starts to fry... you mean like magic blue smoke? a funny smell, a couple of sparks? are there on-board fuses? maybe an internal short? do you have some pics of the guts? a video?also is the remote wire plugged in while you are putting in ether the ground or power

November 18, 201113 yr It sounds to me like you have the polarity reversed.ouch! so have you guys looked into taking off the back of the amp and see if something looks burn/dead?

November 18, 201113 yr Open up the amp and check anything inside.Mosfets,caps,EtcSomething similar happens to a friend's amp Plugs in power and a transformer/transistor (forgot the name) starts heating up and smoking. Some of the mosfets were bad.

November 18, 201113 yr I understand what you are saying.. I thinkWhen you put the positive in you hear a pop coming from the terminal? Or inside the amp? Does it sound like when you plug an appliance in at home and hear the pop of the leads making contact?That's normal... Ground should always go first when putting in, and + should always be taken out first when taking it out.
November 19, 201113 yr Actually you do ground last because there is no current flow without ground so you cant accidently f up anything.
