Yes. It is. As I got this tweeter under the assumption of my research where users were able to cross down to 2.5k. It's there now and I'll keep playing with the EQ. I'm going to build some temporary pods so I can aim the tweeters and see if that changes much.

Where are they mounted now, and do they screech at moderate volume?

Right now up on the dash. The passenger side it's aimed at me directly. The driver side is aimed slightly off axis and more towards the passenger side. I'm using this mount right now. http://www.madisoundspeakerstore.com/speaker-mounts/lpg-wedge-mount-hinged/

They do screech, with certain singers.

Someone broke into your car, and swapped the tweets. :peepwall:

Huh? No fucking way. That is not the strength of that tweet. 4k with a 2nd order is okay, but anything else is off. Don't see how you could have found anyone who said otherwise. Obviously didn't ask here either as I don't miss those sort of threads.

I'm still gonna have to work on install. But I know now, after owning them that they don't do well under 4-5k. That's why I'm looking to replace them although they sound ok crossed that low at lower/moderate volume.

I don't think install will correct it much, but worth some experience. So, is there anything I should look at that may give me better sound or anything that plays lower than the lpg will suit my needs better? I don't what to look at as a start but the vifa tweeters looked great on paper.

There are plenty of drivers that allow you to run a tweeter at 4k+.

Why do you think the Vifa looks "great on paper"?

As far as running lower than I'm currently able to. The off axis response and powering requirements aren't very much. That looks good for my purpose or my goals. My only real attack is install. Unless I'm told otherwise,I could be wrong about how the vifa will sound. But it hasn't been said whether that can possibly be a good driver for me or eluded to other possibilities.

I already answered. If you are going to look at Fs and draw a driver out of a hat there are WAY more options than 2. If you actually select a driver i dont see how that'd be the choice

Maybe I should ask more straight forward.... In your opinion, for what I've stated as my goals, what should I look into? Is there anything you think fits my needs better? And could you tell what driver(s) I should look at?

What mids are you using?

What mids are you using?

No mids yet. Currently using my 6x9 cuz it's all I have. I was gonna throw in the mids from my edesign set just for the time being.

No mids and u don't like the lpg, lol. You haventbgiven anywhere near enough info to begin shopping. Atm what is best for you is a passive comp set

I am in the process of getting my front stage done. Lol Hence why I started this thread.

I don't want to go passive anymore. Want to "build" my front stage.

Your opinion has been noted though.

In my humble opinion I think you should focus 100% of your attention on the mids right now. Tweeters are easy to pick out and implement, mids selection is another story.

If you are running a two-way mids will become more of a compromise. You can either have good midbass extension or good high end extension. Really really hard to get both. Midbass can be mostly handled with your subwoofer setup if needed. Then you could run a 4" mid that can easily play to 4k then you could buy a smaller tweeter. Or buy a bigger mid that can play the midbass range but then you will need a larger tweeter to effectively play down to 2-3Khz.

*Generally* Small format tweets mostly need crossed no lower than 4khz with a 3rd-4th order slope. Large format tweeters can be crossed much lower with a 1-2nd order slope. Mounting maybe become an issue with large format tweeters.

Thanks

As far as mids go, I'd be happy with something that could effectively down to 100Hz. I don't think that is too much to ask if a mid. But that means a tweeter that can play lower. The mids I've looked at were 6-7"and graphs showed them to play down to the 70s. Which i wouldn't be doing.

There are far less compromises in finding a tweeter to go with a mid than the other way around.

Choose a mid first, then look for tweeters.

Okay .then I shall return to this thread afterwards. Thanks for the words everybody. This will help greatly. :-)

The Vifa's I posted are very similar to the ones I have. I'm crossing mine at 2.5 with a 24 db slope running active off 2 channels of my ESX Q 120.4. They take a great deal of power, get incredibly loud and crystal clear and I barely touch my eq in the tweet range. Right now I'm down 1 notch at 8k. I suspect that it's just a sensative spot in my hearing. They hold very true to the published graphs. I guess if I could find a downfall it would be that they really fall off the further they are off axis. If you can keep them within 30 degrees or so it's not an issue. I would highly doubt you'll find a better sounding tweeter in the price range.

I don't like the 25. And yes, there are others that can be "better" in the price range but we've still been given NO information so shopping or recommending a tweet now is wrong and misleading. WAY too early. :(

You're entitled to your opinion and I have the same priveledge. We are all here to speak our opinion.....And.....after 4 pages if i nor anyone else can give a solid reccomendation based upon experience perhaps I'm not aware of the proper forum etiquette here.

so independent of any goals or other equipment details your carte Blanche recommendation is the xt25...well that makes sense

After 4 pages we still don't even know something as basic as what mid the tweeter will be mated with. We could all "recommend" dozens of products, but those recommendations are useless as there is extremely limited information to go on so it's all just throwing darts and blindly tossing out model numbers......which isn't helpful or productive in the slightest.
