October 17, 201212 yr Up until now I only saw this build by watching your youtube vids. I have to say I LOVE what you're doing and can't wait to see the 3 subs in action. I still can't wait to get my 2 15" SP4s running on full power, wired at quite a high load they wanged, I can only imagine what they're going to do at "1 ohm", and then can't even imagine what 3 18s would be like!Keep the pics and vids coming bro.

October 17, 201212 yr Looks great! Can't wait to see the finished pics and vids! Also just thinking every which way but loose was probably before most people on here were even born lol. Edited October 17, 201212 yr by dbsupra
October 18, 201212 yr Author Subs are in and playing, but something isn't right. The 40 + notes are very loud but below that is isn't what the 2 were like, lacking lows badly compared to before.. Also subs are getting very warm quickly. I checked twice while wiring them in box but must of fucked up somehow. The outside wiring looks right. I'm not happy right now, why the hell are the subs getting warm so quick? Any ideas? I do have two runs of 16guage going to each coil. Not sure what that would matter. But I guess I will remove the subs and redo it Saturday.

October 18, 201212 yr Have you checked your drop yet? Adjusted your gain accordingly?Lower ohm load, so yes, his voltage has dropped more, no settings have really been altered at all. The gain was lowered slightly, but not make much of any difference.
October 18, 201212 yr Wow that sucks.Amp getting warm too?Real quick check you could disconnect at the amp and check dcr with a meter to see where you are.
October 18, 201212 yr Author Amp doesn't get warm at all, voltage does drop more but only to high 12.8-13.0. After listening this morning all the way to work (40 min) they were only slightly warm to the touch. Maybe I was expecting too much, I did only add one sub and no extra power at this point. Getting a lot of windshield flex compared to before and thing rattle at half volume like they did at almost full tilt before. Alittle discouraged about the lows but maybe its just deceiving.Still gonna change out the sub wiring Saturday and see if that changes
October 18, 201212 yr Got a test tone cd? If I recall your f3 was around 28-29. Play 25 hetz test tone at a lower volume and adjust your subsonic filter until they start to unload then back up a hair. Then adjust up just a tad with music if need be.

I will definitely try it Edited October 18, 201212 yr by swift

October 18, 201212 yr You know kinda along the same lines of the ssf got me thinking. Not that I doubt your building skills at all but always worth a look just in case. You could try playing tones at low level just above where your tune frequency is. Then start dropping frequency to see where excursion is the lowest. That way you can confirm the port tune is correct. Edited October 18, 201212 yr by dbsupra
October 19, 201212 yr Author The wall with port up high has changes my peak a lot. Seems to peak around 38-40 now. Its loud almost hard to breathe loud but just doesn't seem what I want. I will get it metered but if its gonna be peaking high like this it better be doing a decent number. My sunroof sounds like its gonna break soon. Gonna retire subs with the jumpers on sub instead of on box. Maybe with all that bs wire I did something. Seems too loud to be wrong but I will try anyway. Really it almost sounds as is I'm in the dead zone, like when you stand in the middle of a room versus in the back or corner. Idk Maybe it needs some of that Texas magic Steve can through on it. Lol
October 19, 201212 yr Do you happen to have some design on the box handy? I'd be curious to take a look.
October 19, 201212 yr Author Do you happen to have some design on the box handy? I'd be curious to take a look.iPad spell check is owning my posts almost daily here. HahaI have dimensions, internal dimensions are 57.25in W....27in H....24in D You can figure the port is external and is 50.5 wide 5.5 tall and 26.5in depth

October 19, 201212 yr Author Maybe this is how most walls sound. I have yet to hear a actual wall mash out the lows like my other box except 4th orders. Not to confuse moving air with sound, lol. On video it will look more impressive than the last, but to the ear a 150 before was just so clean and low. Idk, a rewire tomorrow and we shall see. Maybe double the power will get things going. The subs aren't moving too much around tuning. Sounds like a 52 now, maybe more maybe less Edited October 19, 201212 yr by swift
October 19, 201212 yr Your problem sounds like something a local guy did to the SSA Icon that I sold him, he added another set of wires to the coils thinking it would help supply the sub with more power. Just use one set of 16 guage wiring per sub and see where that gets you. Hopefully its a smal issue that can be solved asap.

October 19, 201212 yr good luck brother, ill say a prayer to the car audio gods for you.......theyre kind of dicks tho
October 20, 201212 yr Author It's rewired, which didn't change anything but its fine. It is loud as balls. I just have to get use to the peak change and get it metered. For only one amp it's nasty. I will post a small vid next
October 20, 201212 yr Author I don't know where it is but it's up in the 50's a good bit, I can't imagine what another amp will be like. It's already Much louder than before Edited October 20, 201212 yr by swift
