Posted September 29, 201212 yr Popular Post New thread for the new build, The quest for insanity continues. I wont build this one for numbers either but will be active at Meca meets and just having fun. The goal here is to be very loud, low and sound good doing it. I'm hoping for 154's but want to do it peaking low, I would like 152's+ around 30hz, but main goal is to sound good, this will not be a burp box. I wanted to get the thread up so when I takes picks I can just add as I go. The best part is I can build this in my garage and slide box in when done, add the front beauty panel, seal the edges and done. I will be removing the bed of the truck to run all thread through the box and cab to secure it. Dont need a 600lbs projectile behind me. haha
September 29, 201212 yr Here's the model you asked for. The green is a classic super boom box. It gives you more bottom end but you just don't have enough room for it. I played around with several box sizes and tunings staying within your deminsions and I'd stick with the plan you had the PM's so you can adjust tuning as you play with the system. The red is the 19 cubic feet tuned to 31.5 hertz that was talked about in the PM's.
September 29, 201212 yr Author Thanks alot, I know my truck peaks pretty low so I'm sure that will have some effect also. Did port area change that graph much?
September 29, 201212 yr Swift's back at it again! HELLZ YEAH! Edited September 29, 201212 yr by Dictator
September 29, 201212 yr Author Ok looks like I am at 20cu ft. net tuned at 30.5, with 275in of port area. I think this will be fine. May not meter the loudest but should murder the lows, anybody find a good priced 5500 let me know. Edited September 29, 201212 yr by swift
September 29, 201212 yr I cant wait to see this. Sp4's murder the lows!....................Or so I have heard
September 30, 201212 yr Author So after looking at a Vent Mach calculator I am ending up with .040 - .052 depending on the power I run. From what I have read this looks like it will work good. I will post up some photos tonight of the enclosure being assembled hopefully.
October 1, 201212 yr Author Hope you have this bangin by this weekend. It's bangin, but only with 2. They still have not shipped yet so I guess they won't be here by Friday
October 2, 201212 yr Author Nothing exciting but pics of progress, Until I receive a "Shipped" status I will take my time, lol.Love working with birch. Baffle, doubled and rounded inside edges. I have to go get the all thread I will use for bracing. I also will probably be using some 2in hardwood dowel for the vertical bracing so I do not have to run all thread through the port, although that may be a perfectly fine option. I also will probably use solid brass terminals instead of regular zinc plated. I will use 12 posts (one for each coil) so re-wiring can be done without removing subs.
October 3, 201212 yr Author Alittle progress here, I will try to add the bracing tonight and maybe get the port built.
