Speedtest from speed test,net is good for checking Internet speeds. I use the google translate at work a lot too lol. Amazon and Craigslist apps. Netflix comes in handy on down time. Mapquest is a good app for GPS and its free.

As far as games just download the free versions before buying anything

If you have any young kids that might use the ipad, I would recommend jailbreak and download a desktop lock.

Never understood why Apple doesnt include this feature? Nothing more annoying than your apps moved from desired location on the desktop or apps getting deleted.
