ok, so i read the specs for the 1000d, and it says battery wire terminal, 0 guage, so i go on ebay and buy a 0 gauge amp kit. and then when i go to hook up my amp, the zero gauge wire is 1/3 to big, and i thought rockford fostage would be more accurate, maybe it was that , or maybe sundown made a mistake on my amp or somthing, i heard it was ok to take off wire to make it smaller, as long as you clean it up nice, and then electrical tape it, so that is how it stands now. my box isnt here yet. so i havnt ran it yet. all sugjestions are apreciated so much, this is my dream system and i dont want to fuk it up by jerry rigging it like that or somthing. thanks guys. kevin

you'll be fine by trimming down the wire. They also make reducers for this sort of thing but i question how good the connection is between the reducer and the amp.

Sometimes you do have to trim 1/0 to fit in things that say they take 1/0. Many companies seem to have a different idea of what 1/0 means in size. I wouldn't sweat it, just trim it down a little neatly and you should be good. I never really liked the connection of the reducers myself, but they can be pretty handy sometimes.

Sometimes you make the wire bigger by trimming it as well which requires you to make it smaller to fit. What you did was exactly what you should do, you will have no problems as long as you have no stray strands touching things they shouldn't touch (like metal).

There is a mis-print regarding that on the SAE-1000D. Normal 1/0 wire will *not* fit in the connector. Trime the wire and you will be absolutely fine.

the best way i found to trim wire is from the inside so the out side don't look like crap.

looks don't mean chit. Its all about connectivity.

Try soldering it to a 'solid' piece.

Should reduce it abit.

I'd try the outside...when do you ever see the wire inside the terminal anyway? You're making it harder on yourself by trimming the inside.

becasue there wont be stubs of wires all along the part that is outside the terminal, you could taper it down to fit easier i think

how is it hard to peel the wire like a banana and trim the inside? looks cleaner and work's better

I take a small deep well socket or bic pen and twist it into the center of the wire and peel the rest away and then trim the wire.

Hence why you TRIM THE OUTSIDE off (gets rid of the stubs OUTSIDE)...

personally i'd only trim 1/4 of the outside and 1/4 of the inside, and another 1/8 of every other inner piece (inner being defind as anything more than 1/4 of the radius in from the insulation and 1/4 of the radius out from the center

this allows only a small amount of stubble which can irritate some faces but other faces may find it stimulating

I use a cigar cutter and just roll it around the outside until enough is removed. It leaves a super clean wire left.
