    Trailblazer SS Fi build

Hey guys Im in need of some advice. I'm currently piecing together a setup which will be in a Trailblazer SS. So far I have my two BL 15s fully loaded (newer versions), JL 0/1 awg, and will be powered by a Crescendo BC3500d. I plan on buying a mechman 240 alt, xs power 3400 for under the hood and 3100 for out back. I'll probably have car tunes build my since they did a great job last time. I'm aware I should be running dual 0/1 for the batteries so I will but what else am I missing or should also do? Currently have 12 awg for the subs, should I go bigger? Also will my battery setup work fine at idle without crazy voltage drop? What about dual amp inputs? Any help and advice is greatly appreciated guys thanks for your time!

    Amp and alternator questions

Yea it was clearly my fault I wasn't supplying enough power to it. I didn't know about clipping, voltage drop etc at the time so it was an on going thing. Did some research this time around and have been slowly upgrading my whole system. Got JL zero gauge and did my big three upgrade with the left over four gauge from that kit. Plan on ordering a Mechman 240 alt very soon to power what ever amp I get. I'm not trying to fully power my BLs but considering how loud they were even with that old Hifonics amp they don't need to be. When I upgrade that alt should I just throw a good inline fuse on that main alt wire? Again thanks for all you guys time and input on this post!

    Amp and alternator questions

I've had that amp for about 4 or 5 years and it's always been run off a 130 amp alt with no other support. I don't think any amp would stand up to that kind of abuse I was putting it through. I get what your saying about cea compliant but it does hold some sort of relevance for sure. But the question is how much power can I supply with just a 240 amp alt?

    Amp and alternator questions

Hey guys i think I'm in the right area of the forum to post this but if I'm not, my bad. I bought two Fi BL 15s fully loaded with the daily option a few months back. Originally I was going to buy a Sundown or Cresendo amp but money is tight so I've been looking into the Hifonics BE 2500.1. I know they have a bad name, but I currently own an older series Hifonics BXi 2008d and honestly love the amp. Don't get me wrong I've had it repaired about 4 times but all due to inefficient power supply. The new series is CEA compliant and Steve Meade proved they do put out the power advertised. With that being said, do you guys think a 240 amp Mechman Alt could power the 2500 rms amp? I don't plan on running the second battery just yet, but I'm also not trying to fully power it right now. And another question, what if the amp is rated at 14.4 ohms, should the Alt be the same or a little bit higher? Thanks for any input!

    Enclosure help

Just a quick recap the subs sounds pretty damn good in that smaller box!

    Enclosure help

Oh ok thanks guys I figured it was a good amount off. I knew it would sound ok just not as loud as it can be in the right box. Ive been researching and pretty much everybody was huge ports for the so I knew mine wasn't optimal. Thanks for taking time to look into it and the comments! One more question what size wire are you guys running from the sub to amp? I have all JL wiring but the wire from the sub to amp is smaller...12 gauge if im not mistaken. Should I up the size or will that be fine?

    Enclosure help

Hey guys im switching from CVXs to BLs im wondering if my old box would be ok with the new subs till I get a new one built. Car Tunes built the box and its suppose to be "spec" for the size of my truck and the space im utilizing. They said its a 1 chamber for 2 subs. I went outside and measured it...dual 15s btw 20.5in long 42in wide 18.5in high The port measured 2.5 in wide 16.5 long I just wanna know if this box is close to whats recommended. Im sure they need more port volume but I don't build boxes so someone enlighten me please lol. Any input is greatly appreciated guys! Thanks

    Happy to join the forum!

Whats up guys? Found out about this forum through the Fi website, and its by far some of the most useful info on car audio on the net! I just recently received my BLs the other day and im really excited to get them hooked up to say the least lol. My old subs were CVXs so im sure these will be a bit louder but gotta upgrade the rest of the system before I load them. Anyway glad to join guys!
