I want to deaden the doors in my Escape so you can't hear the door speakers outside. Currently there is a factory deadener/insulation behind the plastic door panel, so that would come out and be replaced. What should I use to replace that and then what should I use to cancel noise from leaving the cabin? And how much of each for four doors.

So yeah basically about 2 yrs I installed Rattle Trap extreme in my car. Over the past few weeks its been extremely hot in san antonio and I noticed that there was something leaking out the side of my door. Doing further investigation i discovered it was the rattle trap extreme melting from the inside of the door through the drain holes in my door. So i decided i might as well remove this crap and then i noticed quickly it was too easy to remove it off the outside of my door panel. But as I was about to begin removing it on the inside of the door i realized it was way too hard using physical strength. Anybody know the best way to remove the rattle trap extreme and clean o…

So I think the next thing I want to do is reduce the rattle of my trunk due to my subwoofer. I put some foam and heavy duty tape between my license plate and the trunk, which stopped the rattle there easy enough. But I think most of the rattle in the trunk is from the top of the trunk. Seem to be a common issue? It is my understanding that adding sound deadening materials to the top of the trunk should reduce the rattle quite a bit, and potentially help increase the amount of bass I hear in the front? But also, wondering which sort of sound deadening material is decently priced and would do a good job? Trying to figure out cost of materials and types of things I…

Has anybody tried putting anytype of liquid deadener on the inside of their plastic door panels? Ive been looking at edead v5 ctherm and second skin spectrum/sludge and was wondering if anybody had any good results without having to put any type of sound deadening tiles before hand.

Alright.. Along with using CLD tiles for deadening, Im thinking im actually going to need to brace my trunk? Im just looking to talk to someone who has actually done this before, Obviously the CLD tiles are going to do a fair amount of work but the fact that i already have the trunk covered in Dynamat I really think im going to need to do more.. The rattle is intolerable, I can actually hear it over the noise in the base when im sitting in the drivers seat and all the windows up. I really hope someone can help, or give some input.

I'm about to sound deaden my 1998 gmc jimmy. Has anyone every used the product b-queit ultimate? Also how much should i use. I've heard that only 25% coverage works perfect. I'm not going for insane spl numbers i simply want to stop rattles, and make it sound better on the highway? Any suggestions on better products around the same price? How much to use??

i got a khaotic enclosure and i was going to put it in my trunk, but it wouldnt fit, so now im putting it in the back passenger side seat. the box is vertical with the port above the front passenger's head rest. i took the passenger rear seat out, and im putting a wood barrier where the seat back used to be. not sure what kind of wood to use tho. then im mounting my 4 channel amp to the back of the wood barrier. was going to put MLVB on the barrier and then closed cell foam on top. then some more closed cell foam on the bottom of the seat where there is just metal now, so the box wont vibrate against it. so am i going the right way with this sound deadening? and also what…

tonight I was able to deaden 3layers on my rear deck and 2 layers on the rear seat (where the seat sites) and 2 layers in the trunk itself. now my question is since i am nearly 100% sure i only have enough deadener to completely deaden one thing, which thing should i deaden first? either the back doors and the trunk lid or the roof? which would be of more benefit and why? see i want to get 1 good layer of deadener on the roof and then a second layer if i have enough left over BUT if i do the back doors 3lay thick or 2layers and the trunk lid i know i will not have enough left to do the room my car is a 95 grand am the sub and port is firing forward into the cabin and th…

This has probably gone over HUNDREDS of times but the search function didnt give me the results I was looking for. From what I have read sound deadening will make you lose spl? Well I like my sub being loud but I hate the rattle from my trunk. What is the best way to apply Second Skin (Seemed to be the best) without losing the loud boom that I am going for? Any help would be appreciated. Sorry to those I anger with this post. Thanks, Jeremy Also....Has anyone ever tried Spectrum? Seems easy enough.....

http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?t=1&products_id=53 What do you guys think? I was going to use it to deaden the inside of my door panel and maybe on some bare metal areas too. If this isn't worth my time then what else can I spray/apply to the inside of my door panel to make it a little more solid?

I purchased an Atrend 12dq dual sealed enclosure, 1.25 ft3 per sub, .75" thick MDF, miter joint and dado groove. supposedly one of the best built prefabs you can get and seems to be true from inspection. Though i plan to get a couple of subs that are optimized for 1.25 sealed, probably w6.2's. I was testing it out with a W3v3 JL sub and i noticed....just like every other sub box i have ever used or built, when hand placed on box, i can feel some vibration. In the past, i used to coat the interior with fiberglass, truck bed liner..etc, whatever i could think of that would lessen it, but i'm not sure if it really helps the sub or not...i never really did a side by side comp…

heys guys, so i just finished installing 36 sq feet of deadner in my car and it helped out tremendously. the anoying rattles i heard before are gone and even the ones on the outside for the most part. after installing it though it seems my subs do not hit as hard as they had before and i was wondering if anyone has had the same results as i did. i have a 2003 celica and i installed the deadner on the inside and outer door skins and did this all the way back into the trunk

I've been working with sound deadeners for years. I've tried everything that wasn't a true sound deadener all the way up to Dynamat Extreme, RaamMat BXT and Second Skin over the years and have seen, read and tried all sorts of application theories. I'm getting ready to tear into my JImmy and have been trying to consider the best course of action where the doors are concerned. Like the way Don and Aaron worked on Aaron's car and used the SDS products for a complete and total noise control system is my end goal. I have gathered quite a bit of CLD and CCF for the install and when the funds become available I'll be purchasing the MLV I need to complete it. What I'm tryin…

I want to completely deaden the inside of my vehicle with SSD's CLD, CCF, and MLV. Vehicle is a 2-door Jeep Wrangler 04' hardtop, the interior of a jeep has less plastic trim than most other vehicles... from the floor to the window line is sheet metal covered in a layer of carpet.... Will that make any difference in the approach I should take? The door panels have been glassed on the bottom to house 2 6.5's and a tweeter, and there is about 3/4" gap between the sheet metal and the inside of the door panel. I think 3/4" will be enough to get a layer of CLD, CCF, and MLV in there? One of my concerns is if I will be able to install the MLV and CCF on the ceiling, I don't wa…

Hey Guys, So I have a 93 Honda Civic Sedan and Im looking to achieve some modern age luxury car silence out of this thing. Now, you might think that isnt too hard but I have swapped out the standard 1.6 engine for a new JDM Type R 2.0 liter engine with a fat exhaust. I've got solid engine mounts that send vibrations throughout the car to make matters much worse. Now, Ive gone with good ol' Second Skin for my brand of choice and getting it locally via the Second Skin representation since I am from South Africa. Now, Ive plastered Damplifier Pro throughout the interior of the vehicle (1 layer, with a 2nd layer in the boot area and outter layer of the doors) (but have nothin…

I bought a large roll of "Edead" (From Elemental designs when they were still in business) sound deadener about 5 years ago, and it was stored in my garage in a cool dry place and I just came across it and decided to use it for my current system. However when I peeled back the white plastic it's not very tacky at all. I wonder if it was like this when I purchased it 5 years ago or if it got this way from sitting around for 5 years? Is there a shelf life on sound deadener? It still has a little bit of tackiness left, is there any way I can salvage it and use it? Is there something I can apply to it that might reactivate the adheasive? Or what about applying another t…
