Ok hey guys, im new to this forum. Im guessing you guys are type experts on subs if not, any information helps. I have a 07 BMW X5 and I just bought a 15" Soundqubed subwoofer and a x14 brutus hifonics 1500 watt amp I want to wire to 1ohms, and im doing it also to my stock head unit. My battery is in my trunk so I don't have to wire a lot to the front of the car. Also wiring with 4 gauge. I was wondering what would the dimensions be for my box? length, depth width? volume? what could my sub displacement be? and my port displacement? Im thinking also 4.5 cubic net tuned 34-38hz please let me know give me ideas, info, anything thank you so much GS

Ok guys im rebuilding. Just wondering what everyone is tuning their Team 15's to. My last enclosure was tuned to 34hz but i never really tried to see what was my lowest reach. Rebuilding for 1 or maybe will use both of my subs. At 5cu. Each. Want to get an idea where to tune, want to see how low i can get. A friend of mine hits 20hz with zv4. Not sure team can get there but i want to try. Any ideas fellas. Thx. (2 team 15's 2 sq 3500's) 10cu. Max aloted space in trunk.

Its been a while since i have kept up with the audio industry and even when i did i was still a rookie. I was lucky enough to have a guy by the name of Alton from this same forum make me box measurements for my car but sadly my car was stolen right before i got to install everything in late 2012. I finally have a car with a big enough trunk to do it all over again hah. So know for my question. I have Two Sundown SA-12 D4's that will be running on a Sundown Saz-1500d v.3 WIth 1/0 gauge xs wire. My question is where and what are your opinions on trusted inline fuse holders that will fit my wire gauge and also how many should i get? Im guessing two. I have seen some pretty p…

Recently bought my Mechman 240a alternator for my truck. I'm curious as to what you guys do as I'm getting some pretty bad advice from a forum I visit often. It's about 50/50 some people say to fuse while others say don't. Some even call me lazy for thinking of not fusing. It's hard to figure it out when everyone has a different opinion. Mechman told me NOT to fuse it as it could introduce voltage drop across the fusing and it's not needed. Some others tell me my vehicle will burn to the ground. I have all the fuses and holders from KnuKonceptz but if it'll be fine without a fuse I have no issues not using one, makes it easier. So, what's the verdict on here? What d…

I just bought a brand new Ram 1500 crew cab and I'm looking for ideas as far as the sub is concerned. Has anyone here done an install in a crew cab? I really don't want to go the shallow sub route. I would really like to find a way to keep my Icon 10. I realize that ported is out of the question so sealed will do. I was thinking about building a box to fit on the floor hump between the back seats. then I have to figure out how to mount 2 big a/b amps under the rear seat. Any thoughts?

Hey guys i think I'm in the right area of the forum to post this but if I'm not, my bad. I bought two Fi BL 15s fully loaded with the daily option a few months back. Originally I was going to buy a Sundown or Cresendo amp but money is tight so I've been looking into the Hifonics BE 2500.1. I know they have a bad name, but I currently own an older series Hifonics BXi 2008d and honestly love the amp. Don't get me wrong I've had it repaired about 4 times but all due to inefficient power supply. The new series is CEA compliant and Steve Meade proved they do put out the power advertised. With that being said, do you guys think a 240 amp Mechman Alt could power the 2500 rms am…

I know the Term-LAB is by all means the best to use but is also really expensive. Are there any other meters out there that are good and cheaper?

I am looking to build a 4th order or wall in a Tahoe at the c-pillar. I am looking at either 3 or 4 woofers. 1st question, has any one had success with a 4th order build with only 3 subs? 2nd question will a 4th order with 4 subs or wall with 4 woofers work well at the c-pillar?

Hi guys this post may be long and I apologize in advance. First off I am by no means wealthy in any sort of the word. I currently own a 97 Buick LeSabre (240,000mi on it) so a new car will soon be required. I want my car to suit my audio setup more that the other way around. I want to keep the following attributes in play with the decision. 1.space / big trunk (for multiple 15's or more) 2.interior that is "easier" to modify. I would be willing to tear rear seats out to mount amps and batteries there. 3. Accessabily so it is not such a pain to run multiply runs of 1/0 cable from front to rear. (Not that big a deal) 4. "Acoustics" as is like some paper thin doors that r…

I wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem yet. Im working on a new build in a blazer everything is going well so far. Im just trying to get the last part of my electrical straight before I build the enclosure. I have a singer 350a alt and I decided to add a mechman vcm. Everything has been hooked up properly but Im not getting any power to the vcm. I checked over wires and made sure I was getting voltage and everything checks out fine. I happened to notice that the plug which hooks up to the alt has one red wire. The plug happens to have 4 prongs. I wanted to know if that could be the reason for things not working as they should.

It will actually be a pair of subs. Single cab pick up truck with limited space behind the seat. Looking for a nice little sub that can get loud. Power will come from the sub channel of my GS Redline 3 channel amp. BS rated at 1,000 watts for the sub channel into one ohm. It is currently pushing a pair of 12" IA Lethal Injections quite nicely ran at 2 ohms, so any of the subs on this list will work. Alpine Type R $120 Arc 8V3 $150 Image Dynamics ID8 $100 Incriminator I Series $95 JBL GTO $80 Memphis $120 Dayton HF $105 Dayton HO $115 I am ok with the prices of all these subs. Any pair of these can be wired to show my amp either 2 or 1 ohm, I am not too worried with the …

So i just bought 2 Stinger voltage meters for my XS batteries to keep tabs on the volts and i am hoping to mount them on the side of the dash in my ford ranger. i dont have the tools or skills yet to do a whole fiberglass mold so i will be using a dremel to cut out 2 square holes to flush mount the 2 meters. the system i am getting will be hitting at least 140db so i need to figure out what adhesive (or whatever else i can use) to keep the meters stuck to the inside of the dash panel without having to use fillers. anybody got any advice how to keep these things in place?

I was looking on the SSA store and was curious about the soundrive cables. They are on the pricey side, my question, are they worth it? Would the sound really improve as they lead you to believe? I've always run twisted pair, currently RF brand, never used coax before. From what I have read, if there isn't an existing noise issue, most any cable will do. Though, the only info I run across seems like it's all just speculation. I just moved my amps around and now my current rca cables are way too long.

Hey guys, I've decided to run with the Zv4 on my Sundown SAZ-2000D, can't wait to see the lows this thing hits! Anyways I have my box design, thanks to Joe X! It was originally planned for an X12 but I think it might work for my Zv4. I'll be pushing the full potential of the SAZ-2000D to this sub @ 1 ohm. I have a 270A Mechman alternator coming soon! Anyways here's my box http://imgur.com/a/4avyv 2.5 cubic feet 32hz 39 sq inches of port 15.5 sq inches of port/cubic foot 2 baffles Sub/port is firing upwards The box is already at it's max width and depth that I can go to, but I can always add some height if needed. Just wanna know if that box is ideal for my Zv4 a…

Hey guys, I have a SAZ-2000D with the X12 I just ordered going in my 2.5 cubic foot box @ 32 hz. I ordered the X12 Dual 2 ohm woofer, but now I'm having thoughts that I should've maybe ordered the Zv4. My fear is that 2k is too much for the X12. Some people mentioned that 2k for a Zv4 is low. I have no plans to upgrade in the near future, I'd like to stick with 2k. It's my daily driver so the sub will see 30 min to 1 hour of play at a time. So did I make the right choice? Will the X12 do fine with that amp? As far as I'm aware the only difference between the two is power handling. Thanks, Dylan

I was given the link to this sound deadener and know nothing about it, not saying that's a bad thing because it is not, but I want to know if anyone on here has ever used this brand or know of this brand of deadener from any experience. I am still new at this and want to get the most bang for my buck.....or as much non bang for my buck lol. Let me know, also no bashing, this is an honest question for an honest answer from those who have experienced this brand not a bash the question, or bash the brand thread. Thanks guys. Also if this is some good product, it should save a lot of people some money. (Not a comparison thread) http://www.ebay.com/itm/181430771921?afsrc=1

in my last decision problems thread i narrowed down which subs i wanted to get. ultimately, everyone steered me in the DSS direction so i ended with 2 12" DSS Ethos subs in a ported enclosure. now since i dont have many of the tools needed to make a proper sub enclosure atm, i will be buying one. i have 2 specific ones i found on ebay that i think might do the trick. they are: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DUAL-12-Inch-CUSTOM-PORTED-CAR-AUDIO-SUB-WOOFER-ENCLOSURE-4-CU-FT-TUNED-32Hz-/400326247663?pt=US_Speaker_Sub_Enclosures&hash=item5d354dc4ef OR http://www.ebay.com/itm/DUAL-12-Inch-CUSTOM-PORTED-CAR-AUDIO-SUB-WOOFER-ENCLOSURE-5-CU-FT-TUNED-34Hz-/400326264513?pt=US_Sp…

Okay I've been on these forums and have been looking at a lot of box designers and box designs. I was just curious to find out how much everybody paid for their enclosures/ sub boxes? This is not for the experts who can make their own boxes though your expert quotes are welcomed. This is for those who don't know and are learning how to make enclosures and had to pay lol. Also state if materials were included or not. If possible give the length of time it took. Pics would also be a plus.

I just picked up a set of ascendant audio carbon 6.5 and tweeters. They did not come with crossovers. Im switching to a kenwood ddx371 or Pioneer avh4200. Well either one have the crossovers internally to run them or could passive crossovers work and if passive is a better option than the head units listed which crossovers would be best. Thank you for you time as all I have had in the past is coaxial speakers and since ordering two 12" DSS Ethos and a bc3500 I know the rest needs upgraded. Also my mtx te404 amp running high/mid and is extremely limited on setting the crossover. Thank you
