  1. Hey guys, my friend asked me if i can install his first aftermarket car audio system. It consists of a 12" jl audio w3v2 single 4ohms in a ported box about 1.75cubicft tuned 35hz. Powering it is a quantum audio 2000w monoblock @ 4ohms. Car is a 2010 chevy cruze. He doesnt want to upgrade his headunit, so the only option is a line out converter. Im not too familiar with these and wanted to know if anyone here has had experience and can refer me to a good one? There are so many out there and i really dont want to mess this up for my buddy.i see the ones on sonicelectronix.com. im thinkin about picking one of those but before i do, there might be one thats on another site? T…

I just bought a 2011 Mazda 3 sedan and already bought a Pioneer avh-3200bt along with everything that it needs to get hooked up (I hope), haha guess i'll find out when I hook it up. Now I am looking for speakers. My last system had two 6.5" Polk Audio DB651s, and two Infiniti reference 9623i 6x9's which were just powered by the HU and they sounded good to me, but now I want to get speakers that will get very loud and stay crisp. I already have a 12" RD Alpha V.2 sub which will be powered @ 1500rms so bass isn't a concern with the speakers. I know there is lots of different reviews on speakers so I am hoping that I can get some opinions from people off of here that can hel…

Probably a stupid question but I'm wondering how I would go about hooking up my 15" SSD to my home stereo receiver. I think its a 100 watt per channel receiver @ 4 or 8 ohms. Just wondering if there is any way to do this or is it just stupid.

Ok.. I have a FI BTL 18 and a Rockford Fosgate T30001bd amp. I have all 1/0awg wire big 3 and a kinetik 1400 in the back. So when i first hooked everything up it was SUPER loud.. but for some reason when i like park somewhere and shut it off then go to get in to show someone it is not even close to as loud as it was.. Does anyone have any ideas. My only idea is because i only have a kinetik 1400 in the back so its not enough power? And sometimes when i turn it up it will start pounding and the will start to cut out. I was wondering if anyone else would know what the problem would be.

  8. I have been waiting for quite some time to finally arrive at the point on what setup I will be using. I was considering 3 IA DP21's or 4 Jbl W15Gti. The amp I am using will be the stetsom 7KD. If I were to go with the DP's it would be in a 24-26cube enclosure at 28hz. The Jbl's would be in a 20cube enclosure at 28hz. I cannot find a DP t/s parameters to factor into the equation. I at least wanted to use the DP15 subwoofer to compare in WinIsd Pro. What do you guys think? If anyone has any t/s parameters on the DP's let me know.

Hey, I have 2 kicker cvx 12's in a custom ported box that I just recently switched to fire into the cabin rather than towards the back of the trunk. In doing so, it boosted what sounds like the middle frequencies, but it killed off the super low frequencies and the higher frequencies. The reason I switched the box orientation is to reclaim some trunk space, which it did do. Now I am wondering if there is anything I can do to get those frequencies back, and make the bass not sound as "hollow" on certain notes. The trunk is not sealed off, although the box doesn't leave much space between itself and the opening into the trunk. Any help is appreciated!

Now for the question . Is it better to run in a daily driver setup 1 or 2 ohms? I there really a difference between the two besides the resistance in the current.

I'm looking for someone in the Indianapolis or surrounding area to build a box for me. I keep getting $350-$400 quotes and was thinking I might be able to get one made cheaper/maybe not. I have zero tools so there is no way I could do it. The subs will be 2-15"D4 IA LI to go in a 07 Ford Escape with usable dim. of 40Wx22Dx22H in a ported box tuned between 32-35hz. No need to carpet since I think I'm going to use bedliner. These will be powered by a SAZ-1500D. Thanks in advance

Just to start off, this was totally and 100% my fault. In no way is the DD-1 to blame. I got the DD-1 from PHILLIP LILJESTRARD who is from OR to test out, I will be buying my own DD-1 once the CC-1 becomes available as I KNOW there will be a combo deal. :drinks: Anyway, I was setting the gains on my SAX-100.4 and turn everything up to full power before distortion. Set my M3a and was done. Turned up the system and it sounded great! Played a song or two for a friend, he confirmed it sounded better. Middle of song 3, I smell something weird, then the rear speakers just stopped and I saw the smoke. I was like <_< , as I had forgotten to back the rear gain down as I…

I went to two local shops recently and asked for help in setting the gains on my system. I asked if that was something they did and what methods they used. The first shop said they turn the HU vol to about 75% and set all the gains by ear. Are you f**king serious! What about my HU and my 4 channel amp? The second shop I went to told me that they had access to an O scope and they would do it at no cost. Wow, I was ecstatic. The only catch is they couldn't do it right then, even though they said it would only be ~15 min. It was 3:00 in the afternoon and the installer said to come back at 7:00 pm, so I was like sure i'll be back. When I arrived at 7:00, the owner of …

I just put in a new box in my 1999 jeep grand cherokee and I reattached the back battery, In doing so I noticed my voltage is at an average of 12.6 with little bass. My voltage is going crazy and im not sure what is going on. Normally at full tilt on rock, the voltage plays at 12.8, But now its at 12.2...... My Interior lights are now feeling the power drops and dimming everytime a bass note hits.....as before it wasnt doing that......any ideas?? My alternator is working i had it checked today..... Also might i add that with the bass off my voltage goes from 13.6- to 12.8....with no bass...only mids and highs......wtf?!

I noticed this problem starting about a week ago. My sub will lose output by about half and play like that for a while, then start pounding again. It doesn't seem to matter if the volume is high or low. I checked all the wiring going into the amp and everything is tight. Took the sub out of the box and recrimped everything. I'm running the stock HU, an MTX RFL600D and a 10" Clarion SW1051. Amp is only running at 4 ohms (rated 300 watts @ 4 ohms). Stock electrical also. Lights don't dim at all. I've got a spare sub laying around, but it's a 12" and I don't have a box for it and no means to whip up a temporary box. What's the best way to start eliminating what the problem c…

When it comes down to the option of which way to fire your subs and port in a trunk I was wondering did the amount of power you were running made a difference if you have to fire your subs forward (into the cabin) or to the rear (back of the trunk)? I know that it can be a personal preference and is ususally done when people are competing or wanting more output fro m there setup but I was just curious does power level play a role even if it is a daily driver. On a side note I have heard some of the low end is sacrificed when forward firing as well since it takes the waves longer to bounce off something, will a lower tuning help out with this issue? Will the issue be that …

Theoretically speaking if you wanted to build a 3 way active set of matching speakers but couldn't find a 4 inch speaker that wasn't coaxial could you just cut the leads running to the tweeter and still use the cone for lower frequencies ?
