Ok, here's the story. I shop (window shop mostly) online 99% of the time on sites like Sonic, Audiosavings, and Ebay, so I found it refreshing to go visit a couple of real audio stores in my area so that I could actually see amps in person, listen to speakers, and tie some hyperflex in a knot. While I did have fun in the listening room and lookin over products the guys that worked at both places SUCKED. (Jack's Stereo and Schroeder's Audio in Waco, TX) First of all, I went to Schroeder's to look at some HAT Imagines as they were on the dealer list. The guy said he only had Clarus's in stock and that I could see them so I went ahead and did. So as we leave the listening r…

Hello all. I have a 2002 Ford Ranger Extended Cab truck that I wanted to put a sub-stage in. I'm gonna go ported but what Dcon sub should I get? I'm gonna buy 2 of them. Also, I'm going to buy an amp to run both subs. Here's my questions... 1) Which Dcon subs should I get? DVC or SVC? 2) How big of an enclosure would I need for said sub? What should I tune the enclosure to? Each sub will have it's own box and an external port. 3) What RMS should I run each sub? The final ohm load will b 2 ohms.

upgraded to 2 sa12's, 800 watts each. and im not noticing a big big difference in loudness. it shakes everything alot more, and i know im getting more bass. i thought that adding another sub and giving it 300 more rms would be alot louder. when the volume is at 20, i dont notice a difference, but when its at 22 my subs go insane. but my music gets crazy loud too, i was hoping that my subs would overpower the lyrics and music, so i would get nice bass without having absurdly loud singing and whatnot. im wondering if maybe my box isnt great. might sell it and get a jl basswedge for both subs, cause that would not only fit better.. but my single sa sounded great in that box…

i feel like i should say something nice about this company. i blew 1 of there 55001d amps and they took it back no problems sent me a brand new one (just had to pay shipping both ways). so 2 days ago i ended up blowing one of there 1600/4 amps. just called tech support to make sure what the alternating power/protect light ment. (it means its "toast"). the tech support was amazingly friendly and directed me to RA where they gave me a RA # no problem or saying that it was installer error. (which it was not). if it was not for their korean made cheapness i would HIGHLY recommend them. needless to say i'm still going to end up getting all sundown amps.

Thought this was interesting. The guys at ED don't seem to be too worried, but I know the guys at JL and if they contacted me for any reason about pissing them off I'd be damn sure to try and make things right. http://www.audiojunkies.com/blog/305

I have a friend with a 1980 Corvette(fixed rear window). He has asked me give him a hand with doing an install. This vehicle will be primarily for his wife to drive, but not as an everyday driver. His thoughts and input for the install are as follows: 1. Has a budget of around $1000.00 2. Has to have the space behind the seats for storage of the T-tops. 3. Does not want to do any cutting of the dash, doors, or have any type of pods on the floor or mounted to the doors. 4. Would prefer more of a quality sound vs bass heavy. 5. Wants anything installed to flow with the interior. Basically wants to keep the interior very close to factory appearence. I have told him that wit…

So I obviously need to upgrade the electrical wiring and alternator in my 1996 lexus es300, and idk how much that will cost, and i wanted to put 3 BTL 12" in my trunk in a custom ported box, and i needed 3 nice amps to power them, i was thinking CRUNCH 2500 Watt or SPL 3200 watt since they can give out a lot of power for a low price....any other suggestions, and how much will upgrading the ENTIRE electrical units be, Alternator, wiring etc.... 3 BTLS---------------------$1100 Pioneer Deck--------------$400 Polk Audio Components--$300 3 Amps---------------------$660 for Crunch $1060 for SPL ------------------TOTAL=$2660 (Does not include labor or the electricals) what will…

A couple of times this week I noticed, at first smell, what seemed to be the odor of cigarette smoke in my 4Runner. Although I just bought this vehicle a few months ago, neither I nor the previous owners are smokers. When I arrived at work this morning I detected the odor again. It occurred to me that I'd been playing NiN particularly loud this morning, so I checked the amps and sub. Both of the amps were very warm but not too hot to touch. The smell definitely seemed to originate from the RL-i8 in the T-Box. Considering that the gain on my SAE-1500D prototype isn't even half-way (gain goes to 8v, my HU output is 4v), I hadn't expected to approach the point of clippi…

so i am wanting to set my gain on my amp and i have read a ton on the dd-1. some people love it and some think it is useless. Ok so i have no experience with an o scope at all but watched some videos and i think i could do it. So with someone like me who has never set there gains with an o scope would it still be a good idea for me to get an o scope or a dd-1? and can you tune your hertz with an o scope? I am open to any suggestions just please keep in mind that im a newbie with setting gains....

I was at a car audio shop a while back and they had this stuff they called, "Dum-Dum" I think. It came on a roll like tape, but was thick and kind of like putty but sticky as well. Anyone heard of this? \Where can I get some?

I have talked to Dom Iraggi and I know for sure I am getting his 4 alt bracket. I've had multiple people who I trusted tell me to run at least one 200a or smaller alternator in order to support my normal car functions. After talking to Dominick Iraggi he told me to get 4 260amp alternators, that they would supply me with the most power for my daily driving setup, since they have great idling amperage and I would never see full power without reving the engine (which I wouldn't do). I know plenty of guys on here run 300a alts and bigger, so thats where my conflict comes in there. I want to make sure I'm giving my amps as much power as possible, and I'm willing to go as sma…

As for the process of going Active I understand that part, my definition of going active is letting your headunit, processor or amp's crossover capabilities control the speakers frequency range. Instead of using one speaker to play a wide range of frequencies you can split them up into a 2-way sytem (midbass/midrange and tweeters) or 3-way system (midbass, midrange and tweeters); where each speaker plays its own certain frequency range such as midbass, midrange and highs. That is my simple understanding of going active and not the best or most accurate definition. Now onto the question at hand I use Eminence Alpha-6a for now on my Sundown SAX-125.2 (2 per channel) and the…

Some of my favorites: DynAudio's show car, the piano playing was pure sex to listen to CV Stroker van, absolutely smothering bass sitting in that thing (headphones and all) and surprisingly, JL Audio's little Austin Mini. What are yours? -Bio
