How does this box look for a SA-8? I listen to mostly hip-hop and r&b and I will be placing forty-five degree cutouts in the corners so the port area stays the same all the way through and sub will be inverted.

Alright so I'm making a box for 2 kenwood 12s. I'm thinking 1.5 for each sub. Idk wether to do a single chamber for both or separate chambers?.. I'm leaning more towards one chamber and one port. I want it tuned to 32 hz. This box is going into a trunk so size isn't a big issue. If anyone could make me a nice design I'd be very greatfull. Thank you.

The site lists 1.8 cu.ft. for the IXL 12 SL. I am assuming this is for either home or car use, so would a box approximately 1.52 ft3 with pollyfill be adequate? More specifically my dimensions are: 17"x15.5" top/bottom 15.5"x11.5" r-side/l-side/inner baffle 17"x13" front/back internal: 15.5"x14.75"x11.5" This is attempt number 2 for a box. I needed some mdf for door speaker baffles and had to buy a whole sheet so I figured out all the numbers for a 1.35 cu.ft. box because thats what i remebered and had it cut at lowes today (actually I have enough for 2 boxes that size). I got home to make sure i remembered right, and of course 1.35 is for the icon, the other sub I was t…

I am tryin to work out a box plan for 2 18" Fi Q's, the box i am plannin will really be 2 seperate boxes. 1 for each 18 then bolted togather, then trim paneled in to look like 1 box. Doing 2 boxes to make it easier to pull the boxes in and out(I am a 1 man build crew) of the van(2000 Gmc safari). Here is what i came up with from RE's web site. Each box will be 25" wide by 34" inches deep by 21" tall wood thickness will be 3/4 inch mdf, port width will be 4.5 port height will be 19.5 and the lenght will be 28.75 to give me a box that is tuned at 28.18Hrz and gives me 6.766 ft of airpace. The Effects of Cabin Gain in Car Audio Have you ever wondered why car audio systems can have so much bass as compared to a home stereo system? The reason has to do with space. Your home has a lot of it and your car audio system doesn't. Because there is so little space in a car the bass notes (which are long waves) build up inside the passenger area. To calculate the length of a sound wave you divide the speed of sound (in feet per second) by the frequency. At sea level, the speed of sound is approximately 1,127 ft/sec. For example, a 40 Hz note has a wavelength of approximately 28 ft (at sea level). (speed of sound)/(frequency) = wavelength OR (1,127 ft/sec)/(40Hz) = 28.…

I attempted to download the IASCA rules today from IASCA's website (that looks and works like it was created by an 8 year old) and they require an account for download. For what reason, I have no idea. They also locked the PDF's so you can't print them. Anyway, I got the files another way and uploaded them to FloridaSPL.com/iasca (no account needed)

Have a 12" GCON in a sealed box. It sounds great but I am wanting more and I know the sub will give it to me if I can put it in the right enclosure. I used the ICON enclosure design for the sealed box it is in now, would the ICON ported design work well for the GCON as well? It falls into the optimal range, 2.5f^3 tuned to 33hz. It is a 2 ohm sub with 500 watts powering it in the trunk of a '96 accord. I have about 32" x 20" x 18" to work with. Anyone have any experience or recommendations for a ported box design that will work well with the GCON?

Okay, so I have a quick question. I am planning on getting 2 Sundown SA-15's. I already have an enclosure built by the local shop, but I believe it's for an SUV. It fits in my trunk, so I was considering just rollin' with it. Only problem is, it's subs up, port back. It's 3.1ft^3 per sub, which seems fine.. but I could also have someone build me a custom enclosure that would be more of a traditional trunk style enclosure. I'm trying to save as much money as possible. What should I do? What would sound better? Thanks.

Hope this is the right section. Anyone in the Myrtle Beach/Conway area we are having a metering session Dec 8 at Carolina Audio in Conway. Call 843-455-9121 for info/directions. It's not a show or competition per-say because we won't have trophies or classes, and it's not really a show because there's no forms to fill out etc. Just stop by if you want to get metered on a Termlab for a good price. I hope I posted this in the right place because it was originally meant to be a competition, but we didn't get things really together in time and it's just not going to be big enough to have classes or trophies. Should be fun though, and get a nice offical T/L score without the l…

Since I'm only on my phone right i can't really use any software to design a box. If you could just give me the cut out measurments that would be great. Maybe a picture of what it might look like. Tuned to 30hz Demensions 32Lx20Wx16H If possible I want the port in the middle with a board separating the the two. So the subs each have there own chamber. All help is appreciated.

The plastic that holds all of the controls for the windows and doors seems to rattle a bit, any ideas on how to stop it? I was thinking some type of small felt tape that you can find at hardware stores.

I built a sealed box for my 12" ICON to proper size for my mustang, but I've recently sold that car and picked up a small hatchback. I want to stick with the sealed enclosure design for this car to minimize the amount of space. Whats the smallest I could go enclosure-wise for the ICON? Would it be possible to go smaller than the .9-1.25cu ft size thats recommended if the difference way made up with polyfill? Ideally i want as small as box as possible but I still want the sub to sound great.

I am looking for someone to build me a box for my SSA Xcon 10. Looking for something that will hit on all types of music. The sub will be in a Trailblazer with a cadence A7hc at 1 ohm so around 1200 watts. I would like to keep the size down as much as possible. Ported preferred. If anyone wants to build for me pm me and we can work out a deal. Thanks

What's up guys, I hope this is the right section. Having trouble figuring how to do my front stage in a 06 Charger. So I wanna see pics if any of you guys have a serious front stage in your Charger Magnum or 300. Also for this who wanna help, front door has a 6x9 which I have looked at and can make adapters for a 6.5 that's no prob. Now the dash has a 3.5, where I can put a tweeter or supertweeter. But that's not really what I want, I don't think a tweeter facing the windshield will sound any good. I have space on the door for a regular tweeter, but j still would like to see others before I proceed. Further notes, I can't fiberglass (would love a pillar tweets and mult…

Hi everyone, first time poster on this forum. Posting all the way from Australia. Okay, So I'm in the planning stage for a system in the new car, and I've just started doing up some rough design/placement ideas on Inventor, when I ran in to a problem. I'm designing this for a Fi Q12 ported, and I know the recommended enclosure sizes given by Fi of 1.8-2.5 cf @ 28-33Hz. However, that is quite a large margin of variation for a recommended enclosure volume (0.7 cf and 5Hz tuning frequency can affect the sound a fair bit). As I'm not a massive fan of guessing/speculating about the best enclosure volume, I decided to pull out the calculator and the old loudspeaker design c…

Doing a system for a friend with an Intrepid. He already has the subs and amp- 2 12" T2's in D4 config, and a rockford T2000 to power them. Lots of room in the trunk to play around with so this is what i was thinking: 5 cubes gross, single slot port appox 96 sq inch tuned to 35hz. Subs and Ports firing rear. Goal is primarily SPL and as long as it doesn't sound like complete ass he's cool with whatever. Listens mostly to rap. What do you guys think?
