Alrighty soo I've been wanting to do my own custom install for a while now. I wanted to acheive a more compact design- one that didnt take up much trunk space, was easy to remove if needed and that was still loud enough and cool looking to not only make me happy, but impress my friends too. Thus came the idea of the sono tube! With the design concept settled, I started looking for the perfect sub to make all the magic happen. I wanted something beefy, but in a 10". After some research, I ended up going with tcsounds oem tc10 and their matchin passive radiator (which might I add is one sexy little thing!!). http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/attachment...uild-d-cone.jpg http…

Here is my dilema! I wanted an 18" BTL N2, BUT my malibu only has maybe 19" height in the trunk throughout. My dimensions to work with are something like 42 from wheel to wheel, 30 deep, and 19 Height. I am open to all opinions on what would be best. I REALLY want the BTL 18 but if everyone tells me 2-BTL 15s would be better I would obviously do that. I know the nightshade and SMDs like smaller boxes as well? I just bought a Sundown 2000d today sooo that will be my amp pushing w/e sub I get. I was also considering building the box out of the trunk and into the cabin therefore allowing the 18 or 2-18s to blow through the cabin in a wall type enclosure. Here are some pics …

Well, here's the deal. I'm going to be building a box for 2 Fi Bl 18's. I figured up the box will be 11.27 cubes before displacement, which is about 10.81 cubes after sub displacement. I figured that I will have 158 sq. inches of port area total. The question I have is, since I want to tune the box to 34hz, how long do I make the port? The port will be 44.5" wide, and 3.55" tall (inside measurements).

Okay this year I compete in DB Drag Street B, and SLAP S2. Next year I want to do street max 1-2 in DB Drag and SS1 in SLAP I currently have 2 vfl 150.1s I like them, but they just arent doing it for me on 14v. I want to get new amps in a few weeks, and hopefully use them next year too. I have a few in my mind I have been thinking of, but I wanted to see if anyone could chime in with some good, strong amps at 14v. Thanks.

I have 4 DP21"s and 2 SAZ-3000d's that I'm stuffing in my 03 Expedition. I'm looking for ways to get enough port area with the subs...The box will be at the B-pillars sealed from the back. It will be about 40 cubes tuned to between 30 and 32 hz. So I'm wandering if I could port through the diamond itself without any problems. Or would this be bad?...Any other ways to get sufficient port area would be appreciated also.

OK, So I recently aquired a 1996 jeep grand cherokee and am in the planning phase of the project. I am looking at running a 3:1 ratio 4th order with either 4 15" or 18" drivers. The issue I am running into is that I am concerned that the box height will end up too low to mount the drivers on a flat baffle. With this being said I was wondering if anyone has toyed around with angled baffles. With this setup I was going to do a driver's side port and tune around 45-50hz. Would this be too much of a hassle and prove to be a nightmare, or should I try to use a more upward firing baffle to fit the 4 drivers (similar to watt's truck but larger and drivers stacked in a 2x2 …

I have a small problem with my box, its too big now and need something smaller. We just had a baby boy last week and now I need the back of my van for the stroller so I need to build a new box that is smaller but still can use my two 10" subs and still be able to mount the 2 amps somewhere as I do not have room under my seats. Right now my box is 48" wide X 14" high X 12" deep, I would like to make a box that is taller rather then wider. I have 40" high X 14" deep to play with, the stroller is 21" wide. I was thinking of using the 40" high to make the box. I'm runing 2 X Earthquake dbx10 single 4 ohms on a Alpine MRD-M1000 @ 2 ohms so around 1000 watts rms. The box will …

Well im swapping out my 2 SA10s each on an audiopipe APSM1300 for 1 SSA 10" XCON and i will be strapping both amps together to get ~2000w @ 2 ohms. It seems like I might get away with being able to use the same box and port length. The current box is 1.39ft^3 before displacement, making it 1.24ft^3 ... using the aero port calculator My exisiting 3" x 15" port will give me a tuning of ~30.8hz. Am i lucky and wont have to build a new box?

So, in an effort to be cool I have been looking at getting a proper enclosure for my 12" Icon. Spoke with Andrew and I'm possibly going that route. First I'd like to find someone more local than across the US. I'm in Jersey and need someone close by if possible that can design/build an enclosure to spec for my boom boom. ... Anybody here on the east coast with the skills and tools?? Please let me know... Thanks!

I don't want to upset anyone by saying I'm looking for an SQ setup if I'm actually looking for SPL, so I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. I don't like mainstream rap music, and I don't ever plan on getting my setup metered or compete, so big dB numbers arent a concern. I listen to mostly underground hip hop and a little bit of rock, like 80s metallica/slayer, so hardly any of the songs I listen to dip into the really low frequency range. I'm running 2 audiobahns in a sealed box at about 2.7cf, and because of their design, they are incredibly cramped in my enclosure (go into WinISD and look up the Audiobahn AW1251 and let it select the optimum sealed b…

Why is it that many many build lately have a box similar to this: (no math was used- just a visual interpretation) I guess what I don't understand is how those lil flaps on each side are a port....just seems like an open hole to me. Are these boxes more musicl or SPL oriented? i am assuming SPL, as most that I see are in competition vehicles.

Hey, i'm gonna spill out all kinds of info so make sure you understand it, hehe. I'm currently workin on your design right now, you will be using external dimensions of 42" wide x 17" tall x 22" deep. This IS what i am going with. You will be using a double baffle on this box. Box material will be constructed out of 0.75" material. I need to know what bracing material you will be using, Wooden dowels or 2x4s? Internal dimensions- 40.5" wide x 15.5" tall x 19.75" deep. Your speaker Outer Diameter is 10.91", i went ahead and rounded up to 11" for a hair more headroom for accidental measurement inaccuracy. Your Baffle design- The border around this baffle is showing the th…

My next subwoofer enclosure setup in my Hyundai Elantra will be a subwoofer forward firing into the cabin sealed from the trunk. Would there be any disadvantages to having the subwoofer mounted behind the back seat and the port firing up through the rear deck (both sealed from the trunk)? I do not know if having the port and subwoofer that far apart and on different planes will cause any weird cancellation or any phase issues.

I bought a sono tube today for a port for my ssd15 that should be coming in about a week or so. The tube measures about 7.5" diameter. I was planning to make a 4 cuft box tuned to about 28hz or so. But is there any way to curve the tu e to make it a right angle? Lol... idt it will fit inside my box without a curve. And i cant get any fiberglass or resin so what should i do to the cardboard tube to make it hard enough for the port? Could i put poly on it then paint it? Or like any good ideas? And since its not quite 8" tube should i just make a 3.5 or 3 cuft box? And do i need double baffel or should single be strong enough for a ssd15? On 1000rms... please any help will b…

So here goes... I have a 98' Mustang GT Convertible. I want bass in it. It Doesn't have to be anything outrageous.(though my Boyfriend said I should put 4 12's in it) I was wondering if yall had any ideas on what i could do? I Don't Really want it in the trunk though ,for one..trunk rattle really annoys me, and I like to see the woofer excursion. Second My trunk is sealed off from the cabin of my car.. My Boyfriend and someone else Mentioned to me That maybe a clam shell would work in the back of my car, If i took the backseat out. I'm not really sure if theirs any other possibilities that could go on..considering it is a convertible. If there is though, I am open for s…

My dash is pretty much completed. It's built to be very flat from a-pillar to a-pillar with no erratic or uncontrollable reflections. I have some ensolite ready to apply but need to consider an aesthetically pleasing way of covering it. I have considered a few different materials.... Vinyl - I would love to wrap it in vinyl, but that would do nothing as far as taming reflections. Suede - Not bad for managing reflections and certain kinds are permeable, but good suede is expensive and looks like crap as soon as it's touched. Tweed - Permeable and manages reflections well, but ugly as all sin, in my opinion. Any thoughts on a good covering material?
