  4. Well looks like I will end up with 17.87cu before bracing and sub displacement. I really want to end up with 17cu total after. This is for 2 18in FI Q's on 3k watts. Box dimensions will be Outside 35h x 54w x 27d.... All sides double 3/4 MDF except front baffle will be triple. (may use some Birch for weight reduction) Usable inside demensions are 32h x 41.5w x 23.25d = 17.87cu Port is 8 x 32 = 256in total Sub displacement = .24... but I will be triple baffled so what maybe .22 or less?? Total of six 2in hardwood dowels for bracing =.35 2in wide 45's in corners =.10 So this leaves me with 17cuft tuned at 30hz after all is said and done. I may glass the inside as well? what…

In the back of my escape there is little room, especially with the rear strut towers protruding about four inches out each side. The space I have to work with is as follows: 40" wide, 24" deep on top, 32" deep on the bottom. which comes out to be about 10 cubes. The height is what can move, although 18" is ideal. I'd like to keep the box rectangular but if I have to make the back slanted for space that's fine. I want the box to be ported but I have very little room. What type of port should I use and will this work for two 18's? Brand is yet to be determined, I'm still in the planning stage.

Hey guys, I have been modeling different alignments for my Dayton RSS265-4 HO woofers. I like the look of 1.2-1.4 cu.ft after displacement for both of the tens, tuned around 30 hz. My question to you guys is how much port area I should shoot for? Would two 3" aeros be adequate? According to the modeling program, I would exceed 25m/s vent velocity using 2 3" aeros, but not by much. This install isn't meant to shatter spl records and each woofer will probably never see more than 300 watts, so taking this into account I don't really think I need such large port area. Looking for suggestions, Thanks

Hi Guys, Hope you are all well and i aslo hope that some one can assist me with working out the correct spec for a true SPL box. please note I will only be doing SPL with this box. Here's what i'd like to do Get a minimum of 151db's from this setup Equipment DD Z1a NSB 170 12v Targa TG301-DW The sub specs are as follows and i could be wrong because this is taken directly from the site. 12" COMP SUBWOOFER - DUAL 1 SPECIFICATIONS Fs (free air resonance): 48.7 Hz SPL (efficiency, 1W/1M): 89 dB Nominal Inpedance: 1/2 Ω Qts (total speaker "Q"): 0.606 Qes (electrical "Q"): 0.732 Qms (mechanical "Q"): 3.5…

What up SSA. Thinking about ordering a single Gcon 12" and running it ported but just want to make sure my calculations are accurate before doing so. Volume (Net): 1.81^3 ft Dimensions: 13.5" (H) x 30" (W) x 12" (D) Tuning: 32.75Hz Number/Size Port: 1 x 4" Flared Port Length: 15.5" Port Area (per cube): 6.94"^2 Vent Mach: 0.11 Is there enough Port Area? Is this a good size/volume for a 12" Gcon? Also, I plan on placing the woofer and port on the same baffle, on opposite ends. This would require a 90 degree elbow bend for the port but there should be over 7" of space between the end of the port and the subwoofer so I don't think that will be a problem.

  14. I've used the original without problems for quite some time. I upgraded to the pro version which has a lot more features but never could get it to work. It would always crash or show errors when I loaded the T/S parameters. Fits of rage and nearly throwing my laptop under a moving bus. Andrew Vaserfirer from HTS figured out the solution. After doing it exactly how he told me it works perfect! I wanted to pass along the info since I know several people have had issues. Again, this is all compliments of Andrew. Ensure that 'Auto calculate unknowns' is on even if you have all the data. This is recommended because WinISD Pro can be very picky about the data and if it is e…

Would there be any negative effects from running all-thread though the back of my box directly into the cab of my truck. The back wall of my truck is already threaded and I could strongly secure the box this way. But Im wondering over time will I get leaks or put to much stress on the MDF. I will be using 1in MDF more than likely. I would seal it and also use a 1/2in rubber mat between the box and back wall and floor to help with sound deadening and vibration. I also will be using the back seat metal bracket to mount the floor to, I can also run allthread through box and floor threaded directly to the metal brackets. This will be a semi wall and will probably make beauty …

  17. I am new to the forum and I am trying to get help on something I just dont seem to be understanding. I have a Ford Explorer and I have two Lethal Injection 12's (4ohm/dvc model). I wanted to see how they sounded sealed, since I couldn't find anyone on the web. Only people asking has anyone done it. They are clean, crisp and loud being pushed with 800watts each. The sound quality is phenominal whether soft, medium or hard hitting. If I open the front doors only, its like a huge ported box turned up using old school SPL comp cd's. The pressure level is unreal for a sealed enclosure. I cannot say enough good things about these speakers. Best investment I made for not a lot …

  19. Howdy, I am going to be walling the astro soon and wanted to get some ideas of what type of walls there are and whats the benefits to them.I am walling it with 8 18" icons I havent set the amp in stone yet but I am contemplating between a DC 12k or a Soundigital 16k. once again the amp is up for debate. There will be a multiple alternator setup with battery bank to supply the amp or amps that are chosen. but with all that out of the way! Dimensions I have to go with are 48" tall 51" wide and up to 97" deep but I really dont need that deep lol! we still need to leave room for amps and batteries! I was throwing around the idea of a clamshell or maybe a 4th order just not …

  20. Hey, I am looking to build an enclosure for one Sundown E-12 in the near future. I plan on putting it into a 2.5 cubic foot enclosure. (PWK recommends an enclosure for the E-12 of at least 60L (~2.1 cu ft) for a more linear response) I also want to use a 4" aeroport (precision port) 10.25 inches long for a tuning of 32 Hz. I think my question is, would it be alright to tune this box to 30 Hz? All it would require is 12 of port length compared to the ten and a quarter. I'm just slightly confused because I have heard not to tune too far below a subs res. freq. because it might cause roll-off right at the tuning. If it sounds stupid, that's because I read it once somewhere o…

My dad has an E8v1 in his van in an old box that was from a component set, he needs a new box. I have leftover wood from my box so I thought I might as well use it! Using sundowns recommendations I figured .6 cubes with a 7x2 PVC aero port. My question is how much port area should it have and what frequency to tune to. He listens to rock music, should I even port it?

I have an 18" zcon on order so I'm starting the build here in the next couple days. I have two designs worked up and just curios what every one thinks would be better, more so concerning port area. I plan on using either a 10" or 12" round port. Box will be sub up port back in an 06 xterra. First design: 6.93 cubic ft. after all displacements with A 10" port tuned @ 37 hz port area = 11.38 per cube Second design: 7.4 cubic ft. after all displacements with a 12" port tuned @ 37 hz port area = 15.28 per cube Just curious what everyones thoughts are, thanks
