I drive an Olds Bravada (basically a blazer) and I drive it daily, but its a weekend warrior for spl. I have an AA Havoc 15, I'm building the box to the SSA Icon enclosure specs, and running it off a MB Quart Discus 1500. Which would sound better/get louder, facing the sub and port up, or sub and port back? If I face the sub up I can actually use some of my cargo area.. but that isn't a big necessity. It is a four door if that matters.

  3. Hello. I bought this car a few months back and the time has come for me to start with audio upgrades. I would like to focus this thread on the front stage. My goals: Two-way active setup. Clean sound. Ability to get decently loud inside the car, I have no interest in a parking lot party vehicle. Good, precise response in the listening frequency range. Installation locations: I have two 10" Sundown Neo Pro midbass drivers I am planning on installing, one per door. Around 0.5 cub ft ported, tuned to ~60Hz. I would like to retain my foot space, so for now kick panels are out of the picture. I have no problem with mounting speakers on the A pillars or on/under the dash. I ha…

Alright, well, for a build I am going to be doing I can choose between 2 4" aeroports, or 1 6" aeroport. When I put the 6" into WinISD it tells me a length of 23.25" is needed for my tune. And when I enter 2 4" ports it tells me I need a port length of 21.5". Now, is that a combined length between the two ports? Or does each one need to be 21.5" ?? Thanks for your help.

My next subwoofer enclosure setup in my Hyundai Elantra will be a subwoofer forward firing into the cabin sealed from the trunk. Would there be any disadvantages to having the subwoofer mounted behind the back seat and the port firing up through the rear deck (both sealed from the trunk)? I do not know if having the port and subwoofer that far apart and on different planes will cause any weird cancellation or any phase issues.

Would a box that is 2.046 cubes after all displacements with 2 ports that are 1.875x8x22" (will be behind my back seat in my truck) be ok or sound good or give me fair spl numbers with 3 or 4 sa-8s v1 d2s or 3 or 4 orphan 8s in it running off a crescendo bc2000? Is it enough port area? Box volume? Is there anything I should change?

I've got some complicated problems. Ok I'll just start with the maximum enclosure Size/Subwoofer Recommendations and we'll go from there. Anything marked with a * is a question/possible problem, please check these spots out. Woofer Recommends This: 2-2.5 Cubic Ft Per Woofer 50" Squared Port Area - 79" Squared Port Area Depending on Box Size. I would like to tune to 33 Hz I think that will sound good?* Enclosure Maximum size and WHY: 36" Exterior Width 30" Exterior Height 14" Exterior Depth Woofer Direction: Subwoofers mounted on top. Port Direction:* There is a door on one end of the enclosure and a seat on the other other end of the enclosure, there is a seat behind the …

I'm going to be purchasing a table saw in the near future. My question is: how big do I need? The only local place to buy MDF in my area only sells in 4x8 sheets, so I'd have rinse this saw with that initially. I found a nice looking one at lowes for $150. It's a 10". I don't know what the 10 inches refers to.. Would that be big enough to get the job done on a 4x8 sheet of MDF? If not, what about 4x4? I think lowes can cut the sheets in half for me.

I talked to Nick at Incriminator Audio (Subwoofer Maker) I believe, he said go with 2.5 Cubic Ft per sub and a 70 inchs port in a 6 Cubic ft Box. 2x Incriminator Audio Lethal Injection 12 Inch Subwoofers. I did some further refinements. This is what I came up with Subwoofer Volume - 2.5 Cubic Ft Port Hz - 32 Box Specs: Width - 36" Depth - 26" Height - 14" Net Volume - 6.36 Gross Volume - 5.08 Cubic Ft Volume Per Woofer - 2.54 Cubic Ft Volume Displacement: 0.22 Cubic ft - Woofers .056 Cubic ft - Bracing 4x 45 Degree Corner Braces 1 Cubic ft - Port Volume Port Specs: Port Volume - 1 Cubic ft Port Area - 91.05" Squared Port Diameter - 10.77" Port Width 2" Port Height 12.5" P…

  13. Hello, I have a single BTL N2 12" D2, running on my saz 1500 at 1 Ohm. The box is 2.1 ft3 at 32 Hz, with a slot port. Port firing to the side of my truk. The car is a Toyota auris hatchback. On the TL I only scored 135.8 db sealed at the windshield, and I want higher numbers. It was at 58 Hz : I don't know why it was so high ! 138db with driver's side door open. What can I do ? I want a new box, but do I look for a bigger box, smaller box ? Do I need to have sub and port firing up ? I think I will try an higher tuning, like 34 Hz. Is it worth it ? I'm looking for suggestions. So I can ask a good box designer to work for me.

I, however, can not find how much cubic feet the speakers need. and I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out with getting the best and most sound possible out of these speakers. I am going tomorrow to get the wood to start building a box. I am 6 ft tall so room is kind of an issue with scooting the seat up.

I started sanding the enclosure and filled it all the screw holes sanded all those spots with 60/120/220 grit sand paper everythings smooth(so i thought) i started painting the enclosure with kryole dual primer and paint(spray can) i thought it would be good to use that lol well im pretty stupid to think that was gonna work great. The corners are very dull along wIth the edges that are sanded and the top and sides are super shiny and it looks like shit. Whats a good paint to use to paint birch with and have it turn out super glossy. My goal is to have it very glossy and not be able to see with the edges meet …

Current setup: exodus ex-anarchy mids peerless/scanspeak hds tweets Kicks are sealed. I've started making new kick panels for the mids and tweets, possibly porting for more midbass, but I've started thinking about exodus mids in doors, get some midrange drivers (bumping up to a three way, I think I can manage ), put midrange & tweets in kick area, or just midrange kick, and or possibly tweets in dash and deal with window reflections. I like the idea of mids in doors so I could seriously free up some leg room, what downsides am I'm looking at? If they went into the doors, they would be mounted to a fiberglass panel/pod that's securely bolted to the sheet metal. The p…

I'm going to be building an enclosure for a friend here in the next couple of weeks for 4 10's. I drew out the layout of the box on a big piece of paper. The original plan was to have the 4 subs upfiring with the port facing back. However, 2 of the subs are really close to the port opening in the box. I'm just wondering if the subs being as close as they are, if it will affect the way the subs perform. I have an alternate plan to face 2 of the subs upfiring toward the middle of the top baffle, and have 2 rear firing on the same baffle as the port. I have drawn a simple sketchup of what it would look like in both situations so you kind of get an idea of what I'm talking ab…

Hello gentlemen and ladies. Here goes my first post... I've been rolling with a 12" Polk SR DVC 4ohms 700RMS2.0cu ft. and had a baby she's just 7 months now, it's pain to carry that monster into the house every time we plan to go shopping with the stroller. Also feels unsafety with the huge box in the back of the hatch with baby on board. Today I was so excited to pickup a SA-8 V2 from a guy locally for $80, when I got there it doesn't seem like the SA-8 V2, so I though it's a V1 so I grab it anyway, came home start building my box, and do my research while waiting for the glue to dry, finally find out that that sucker sold me a E8v2, which i'm planning to get a SA-8, but…
