Does port/woofer aiming really matter that much in an SUV? I'm looking at placing the box in the passenger rear corner with the woofer firing cross cabin and port forward.

So after taking a bed apart a few days ago i discovered the mass use of MDF used in the bed's structure. Now if i wanna build a box for my 18" btl, people always say use 1/2" MDF. How important is that 1/2" ? Why does it need to be that thick? For structural/support reasons? the MDF from the bed is 3/8" and i'm going to go buy the 1/2" just because everyone on here says to do it and i trust them, i was just curious. I have like...50 square feet of the stuff.

I've been playing with a port calculator and I find that 30 1/8"x3/4"(which just happens to be my wall thickness) holes will tune the box to a nice 30.5Hz. Now, is there any reason for NOT doing this??? Thought I might arrange them in the shape of an SSA logo for effect.

okay, so I drive a 1995 honda prelude. I just got my nightshade 12 about two weeks ago =], I am running it with the saz 1500, I have also done my big three. I feel my nightshade isn't at the full potential but, it could just be my box. Off the top of my head I can not tell you my demension, all I can tell you is that its 2cuft at 33hz. I am planning on building another box very soon. I would like to know what input anyone has on they're 12" nightshade and there boxes and how they sound, also anyone with a prelude and where the have there sub mounted and the port faceing. Thanks, Jordan

So i went to the new shop opening up in my area and got to talking with the guys there and well one thing lead to another and i was cramming a box into the backseat of my volvo. Did i forget to mention it was for free? eaa free and after something ive decided on building a wall, yea not alot of people do 1 15" or 1 18" in a wall but this box fits no where else so why not? This box seems well constructed and after building my false floor which i am going to start with the new friends i made at Kustom Tints and Graphics 2, i honestly cant wait just because i liek how the box looks but im not sure if I AM A just kinda bolt the box down or build a baffle over the front and ma…

I have pretty much been out of the game since 2009 because I was happy with my last build and left it alone for about 5 years. I recently bought a 94 F-150 ext cab to DD and I need my tunes back. This truck is going to give me some headaches but I'm slowly getting there. I'm looking to put a 10" SSD in a center console box, sub down with a forward firing aero port to try and get everything to fit and not look too silly. I made some templates today and figure I have 18" height, 24" length and 12" width overall to work with. That includes lifting the box 2-3in off the floor for sub clearance. I've never used an aero before but have been doing some research and I think I des…

Sooo...got a bit of a rude awakening today. Found out my e12a is actually presenting close to a 10 ohm load to the PG Tantrum 1200.1 in box - impedance rise is killing me. The sub is a 2 ohm DVC currently wired in series, and it's close to 2.5 times what I was thinking the impedance was. Pardon the extreme n00bish question, but is such a drastic rise common? It just feels a little strange running my sub at a lower impedance than my amp is rated for (if I drop it to 1 ohm), but if it models out well, hey...that's what I'll do.

Hey all. I have my Fi SSD 15 in a box right now that is tuned wayyy to high. So I was crunching some numbers for a new box. Here are the specs, can you all look over them and see if everything is correct please? 28" wide 17" tall 28" deep Port: 4.5" wide 15.5" tall 41" long Sub up port back. 3.9 cubes net, @ 31hz, 17.88 sq in of port per foot Also with that box, should an SSD 15 hit the lows pretty good?

Hey all.Im going to be getting a different enclosure and im wondering how big it needs/should be.I have 4 10" DC lvl 3 subs with lvl 4 upgrades.Ive been doing some thinking and I think i can move my batteries and have room for a bigger enclosure. The max deminsions I could use would be 32W x 19H x 40D.My goal is to hit 150db and I just cant do that with my current enclosure.I know the deminsion I gave are probaly to big for the 4 10's so thats why I was wondering how big I should make it.I would like the entire enclosure to be double baffled and I would like to use aero ports.I have always liked aero ports but I have never had a enclosure with them.I would like the enclosu…

Sorry for another question (just taking advantage of my day off). I just finished up damping my door panels, the sheet metal, framing, and plastic panels,as well as the rear hatch with eDead 120 and Damplifier Pro. Probably have used about >80 ft^3 so far. I am doing my entire roof and going to do the floor soon too but I am having trouble deciding what to do next. I keep reading very different theories about what to do, whether to use closed cell foams or open cell foams and where to use them. Some of you have recommended websites to buy different products but just need to know how much and what to buy. I have a lot of room in my doors between the interior plast…

I just got a 12" Mag from Low-Hz, and currently have it in my old sealed box that housed a JL 12w6(v1). That box has about 0.8 cubic ft. after driver displacement. Anyway, I was planning on building a ported box and got this off the net: http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported...=&Vas=&Fs=&CE=0 I was all set on building it, but decided to read more, and the more I read, the more I get confused and hesitant. So I decided to ask the official SI site for input. I want the best ported box with a maximum width of 30" and max height of 13". It's going into a 95 Ford Mustang, and I would like the box to fit perfectly into the hole when you fold down the seats. …

i am about to attempt to build my first box for my two db drive platinum 12s and a few friends have been telling me that a down fire box would be the way to go I am wondering if it really makes any difference in the bass level or spl I also planning on porting the box but I'm not sure where the best location for the port would be I'm new to all this when it comes to fabricating an enclosure. Its going to be about a 4 cubic foot box in an extended cab s10 with the port tuned to around 32-35 hertz. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it possible to to a T shaped slot port? I'm designing a box right now with 2 woofers and no divider. I was planning on making a L shaped slot port off to one side of the woofers, but got to thinking about putting the port in between the woofers and making it shaped like a T without a divider in the middle. No clue if this would work or if the velocity of the air coming from each side would create turbulence where they meet and make the port less efficient. I would put a divider in but I'm limited on space and a divider makes the port length longer per side and cause me to increase the size of the box to stay optimum and the dimensions are larger than I have to work wit…
