Sundown Audio

Few updates : 1) I am running a full container load of the v.1 SA-8s to meet demand -- these will be in stock in July. So we'll be sold out for a bit as the massive amount we just got recently are already nearly depleted. 2) This run of v.1 models will have the v.2 frame on them -- as there are reasons beyond cosmetic for the frame. They will be fully compatible with any SA-8 with the newest surround and spider, though. From the front will look no different either. 3) Once these are gone then we'll work on launching the v.2 models -- R&D is almost done on them. But they should be out around August to September. Sean will be up next week to try out the latest SA-8 v.2 …

  2. Hi I'm in the process of upgrading from my 15" Fi SSD to dual Nighshade v.2 on around 4 K rms. And I'm not so good with designing boxes so I'm asking someone with the talent to help me with a design for my new woofers. I was thinking something made for daily use tuned to 32-33 Hz. The box will be going into a Ford Mondeo hatchback. Tanks for the help

I i know you went back to a 17 volt system. Dj is hooking me up with his alt. Hes going to replace my AC compressor with one off his truck but its still a 12 volt system. but its going to be fun this year

I finally got this box built and a chance to test this speaker out. It is replacing 2 15" polkmomo drivers on a crunch amp. The box is roughly the same size as the other but this one lets the seat lock into the up position. It is about 3.25 ft3 at 35hz. There is no bracing or 45's in the corners. Its facing up right now as I find a place for the amp(s). But it sounds better forward. I know its a little ghetto but Ive just recently started building my own stuff. As you can see it is hooked up to the SAX125.2. It is bridged at 4 ohm so its only about 450 watts. Gain up halfway and it still rocks. This driver sounds very nice. This driver is of high quality and great sound.…

Sundown Audio takes three first places: Team Tremorz (1st place)in RX1 and (2nd place)in db5 .We had voltage issues all day which will be resolved by Mooresville NC event AUG 30th. Sundown also takes first place in M3 with one SAZ3000 and two AQ/DD15's can't remember what team the guy was with in M3 . Sundown also takes a first place in SQ can't remember which class I didn't judge the sq side may have been ssa team? Congrats Jacob and keep building them so we can slowly take over the spl world one comp at a time.

I just got my refurbed 100.4 and got 3 quick questions. 1. I have existing 8 gauge power and ground that connect to the primary battery less than 3feet from the amp. I would like to run this amplifier initially to power a subwoofer 4ohm off of chan 3/4 and leave chan 1/2 empty. Would this be ok? I would upgrade to 4 gauge when I hook up the front 2 chan. 2. I have a pair of RCA's from my sub out on my HU. Is this going to provide enough signal or does this amp require all 4 rca's to be hooked up. I think they should be ok, but just wanted to ask. 3. On the cross over pots, they are marked as 50hz to 500hz. Is it safe to assume that it if I placed the pot in …

  11. i have an older box that was given to me by a friend who works at a shop.... he said that he really didnt know what it was tuned to but the 11.5 long and the only thing he remembers ( which was written on a sticky from the guy who built it) that the box had 26.43 cu. inches of area, 1.48 cubes .... so some ruff calculations on my part which i suck at i am still unsure on what this box is tuned to.??? JUST A TEMP BOX UNTIL PETE AND I GO OVER THE NEW BUILD WITH 15 NSs... i spoke with him last week and was think going with a horn design.... could get interesting.

I received my refurbished sae-1000d yesterday. I actually looks really nice. The picure here showed a couple of little marks on the cover, but they are hardly noticable. Hooked it up at 2ohms and wow! I was very impressed with it. The specs say that it does 600rms at that resistance but it definately puts out more than my "900rms" kenwood. Alot cleaner sounding too. I was having a really hard time setting gains last night too. I think i need to find someone with an o-scope. Just though I would compliment Sundown for working with me on getting my amp and, though I don't know very much about car audio, I was really impressed with it.

Quick help needed please... I have a 2.35 cubic foot enclosure for 4 E8's powered by an SAE 1200. I'm going to use a 6" port, can't make my mind what to tune it to 30-35 hz. Is a 6" port, 28.26 sqare inches to much port area for this combo? I see people using a single 6" port for up to 4 cubes. I'm a little worried about the subs unloading and damaging the suspension.

  23. I think I already know the answer to this question, but I have to ask just to be 100% sure. Does the SAX 100.4 have balanced differential input? I got a new car, and I don't want to mess with the factory HU - which outputs balanced differential. So, I need an amp that can handle this, or build/buy a converter. I have a SAX 100.4, so if this won't work, what brands DO accept this type of input? So far, I've found the JL Audio and Rockford both have amps with this input. Any others? Anyone have any luck interfacing with the HU on a 1st gen Acura TSX?

  24. I have a few quick question about the sub box that I am going to be building. First I have two SA-10 D4's wired down to 1Ohm, being powered by a SAZ-1500V3, currently have a crappy prefab enclosure. Though the subs still sound great I know they can be much louder. I have used a few online calculators as well as design software to build a basic ported box. I just want to verify that the box design I have will be sufficient. I've been playing with some numbers and I'm curious about port recommendations as far as width and length Current Box design is a simple ported box with a side slot vent, subs are sharing air space. I'm using RE audio Box calculator specs are Wid…

Okay, I have gone ahead and built the shell in my car and I have between 23-24 cubes total. My plan is to run 8 sa12's off 4 saz1500's. My main concerns are with port. If i do all 8 on a flat wall i can get about 187" of port. If i go down to 6 subs I can get upwards of 320" of port. If you go with a smaller port do you want to go with a smaller box? or Would it be better to go big box small port? I usally go with a 14" per cubes on port area with most boxes i build, but this one I just cant get the entire 14" with 8 subs. I had also spoken to DJ and he was said 187" in 14 cubes should be good, but i woundering if there is any rules about port area-vs-box size... …
