Sundown Audio

  1. Started by dpc69ss,

Quick help needed please... I have a 2.35 cubic foot enclosure for 4 E8's powered by an SAE 1200. I'm going to use a 6" port, can't make my mind what to tune it to 30-35 hz. Is a 6" port, 28.26 sqare inches to much port area for this combo? I see people using a single 6" port for up to 4 cubes. I'm a little worried about the subs unloading and damaging the suspension.

Ok, so I'm going complete Sundown in my setup. And I am excited to receive the order. However, being more business savy then with certain car audio things.... I need some community help! I had no problem actually constructing a sealed box, however these 12's need to go ported, and after trying to use a few different port calculators I am lost. We all have our areas . Can someone please design a box for me? I will post the dimensions it needs to be shortly! Thank you very much Kevin

Sundown Audio takes three first places: Team Tremorz (1st place)in RX1 and (2nd place)in db5 .We had voltage issues all day which will be resolved by Mooresville NC event AUG 30th. Sundown also takes first place in M3 with one SAZ3000 and two AQ/DD15's can't remember what team the guy was with in M3 . Sundown also takes a first place in SQ can't remember which class I didn't judge the sq side may have been ssa team? Congrats Jacob and keep building them so we can slowly take over the spl world one comp at a time.

Want to know how 2 12" Nightshade would do in 2.742 cubes and on a Sound Stream xxx-6500d at 1 ohms?? I was worried about the box being to big I am only about a 1/4 to 1/2 up on gain right now on two Mass Destruction Napalm's and they sound good but are really made for a smaller box.. Also how much are the 12" version did not see it on the site or missed it.

  8. Hey all I currently have an SUV and the rear fill speakers which are Morel Tempo 6's have messed up x-overs. I've tried to call morel and it wasnt a help, I called local dealers and they werent a help either, it turns out I would have to buy a new set and I cant do that right now. So I was wondering if somebody can help me figure something out, should I just hook the mids and tweets up to the SAX directly and adjust things from the amp? you know x-over settings? I wouldnt really know what to set them at. My Headunit is a Kenwood DDX712 if that will help. Thanks

  9. I have a few quick question about the sub box that I am going to be building. First I have two SA-10 D4's wired down to 1Ohm, being powered by a SAZ-1500V3, currently have a crappy prefab enclosure. Though the subs still sound great I know they can be much louder. I have used a few online calculators as well as design software to build a basic ported box. I just want to verify that the box design I have will be sufficient. I've been playing with some numbers and I'm curious about port recommendations as far as width and length Current Box design is a simple ported box with a side slot vent, subs are sharing air space. I'm using RE audio Box calculator specs are Wid…

I received my refurbished sae-1000d yesterday. I actually looks really nice. The picure here showed a couple of little marks on the cover, but they are hardly noticable. Hooked it up at 2ohms and wow! I was very impressed with it. The specs say that it does 600rms at that resistance but it definately puts out more than my "900rms" kenwood. Alot cleaner sounding too. I was having a really hard time setting gains last night too. I think i need to find someone with an o-scope. Just though I would compliment Sundown for working with me on getting my amp and, though I don't know very much about car audio, I was really impressed with it.

I just got my refurbed 100.4 and got 3 quick questions. 1. I have existing 8 gauge power and ground that connect to the primary battery less than 3feet from the amp. I would like to run this amplifier initially to power a subwoofer 4ohm off of chan 3/4 and leave chan 1/2 empty. Would this be ok? I would upgrade to 4 gauge when I hook up the front 2 chan. 2. I have a pair of RCA's from my sub out on my HU. Is this going to provide enough signal or does this amp require all 4 rca's to be hooked up. I think they should be ok, but just wanted to ask. 3. On the cross over pots, they are marked as 50hz to 500hz. Is it safe to assume that it if I placed the pot in …

Box outer dimensions (.75 mdf) - 40" x 13.75" x 8.5" = 1.91 cubes After subs, ports and bracing = 1.65 cubes Box will house four E8's firing up. I have 10' of 2" pvc so I'd like to use it since it's free. Will two 2" ports 8.56" long tuned to 34hz give me good output? Also I have a choice of firing the ports down or to either the driver or passenger side, do not have room to fire up with subs. Give me your thoughts please on this design. Power comes from a Sundown SAE-1200D = 1200 watts @ 1 ohm @ 12.8 volts. Box will be behind the seats, raised off the floor, in a small MR2 with about 30 - 35 cubic feet of interior volume.

Gotta say that Sundown has their shit together. Not only are their products top in the business but their customer service is outstanding! Tuesday morning I emailed Sundown about a used basket and a t-shirt. A couple hours later my email was replied to and a few more emails later, within an hour, my swag was ordered. I received my order today, three days after ordering Thanks Sundown! I will also add that I requested a little something special added to my Z.3 that I ordered a couple weeks ago. Without hesitation Sundown complied. A lot of companies ship straight from a build house without personally testing or even seeing the product they sell, not Sundown!

I recently just ordered a Sundown SAE-1200D amplifier and im currently looking to get all new wires from KnuKoncepts. For some reason I cannot seem to find what size power and ground wire the amplifier needs. Im assuming that it is 1/0 gauge but can someone tell me for sure? Also what size external fuse do I need?

  21. I purchased 4 saz1500 amps. I have not purchased my subs yet. Would it be better to run an amp to each sub individually or link 2 amps together and run them to 2 subs each? I planned on buying a mlx-100 so signal loss will not be a problem.

Okay, I have gone ahead and built the shell in my car and I have between 23-24 cubes total. My plan is to run 8 sa12's off 4 saz1500's. My main concerns are with port. If i do all 8 on a flat wall i can get about 187" of port. If i go down to 6 subs I can get upwards of 320" of port. If you go with a smaller port do you want to go with a smaller box? or Would it be better to go big box small port? I usally go with a 14" per cubes on port area with most boxes i build, but this one I just cant get the entire 14" with 8 subs. I had also spoken to DJ and he was said 187" in 14 cubes should be good, but i woundering if there is any rules about port area-vs-box size... …

  24. Hi I'm in the process of upgrading from my 15" Fi SSD to dual Nighshade v.2 on around 4 K rms. And I'm not so good with designing boxes so I'm asking someone with the talent to help me with a design for my new woofers. I was thinking something made for daily use tuned to 32-33 Hz. The box will be going into a Ford Mondeo hatchback. Tanks for the help
