Sundown Audio

  1. Started by bigrank916,

I finally got this box built and a chance to test this speaker out. It is replacing 2 15" polkmomo drivers on a crunch amp. The box is roughly the same size as the other but this one lets the seat lock into the up position. It is about 3.25 ft3 at 35hz. There is no bracing or 45's in the corners. Its facing up right now as I find a place for the amp(s). But it sounds better forward. I know its a little ghetto but Ive just recently started building my own stuff. As you can see it is hooked up to the SAX125.2. It is bridged at 4 ohm so its only about 450 watts. Gain up halfway and it still rocks. This driver sounds very nice. This driver is of high quality and great sound.…

I recently just ordered a Sundown SAE-1200D amplifier and im currently looking to get all new wires from KnuKoncepts. For some reason I cannot seem to find what size power and ground wire the amplifier needs. Im assuming that it is 1/0 gauge but can someone tell me for sure? Also what size external fuse do I need?

Hey jacob you plan on doing alot of NSPL ? I plan on getting another SD 3kd and thats going to put me in the no-wall 5001-10k class And i know thats the class you run in. I know i'm not going to be doing 54's and up. So i'm wondering what your clamp is or are you planning to run another class? I'm hopping your over 10k . you running 2 3500 or 2 4500? I i know you went back to a 17 volt system. Dj is hooking me up with his alt. Hes going to replace my AC compressor with one off his truck but its still a 12 volt system. but its going to be fun this year

Sundown Audio takes three first places: Team Tremorz (1st place)in RX1 and (2nd place)in db5 .We had voltage issues all day which will be resolved by Mooresville NC event AUG 30th. Sundown also takes first place in M3 with one SAZ3000 and two AQ/DD15's can't remember what team the guy was with in M3 . Sundown also takes a first place in SQ can't remember which class I didn't judge the sq side may have been ssa team? Congrats Jacob and keep building them so we can slowly take over the spl world one comp at a time.

  8. I think I already know the answer to this question, but I have to ask just to be 100% sure. Does the SAX 100.4 have balanced differential input? I got a new car, and I don't want to mess with the factory HU - which outputs balanced differential. So, I need an amp that can handle this, or build/buy a converter. I have a SAX 100.4, so if this won't work, what brands DO accept this type of input? So far, I've found the JL Audio and Rockford both have amps with this input. Any others? Anyone have any luck interfacing with the HU on a 1st gen Acura TSX?

I just got my refurbed 100.4 and got 3 quick questions. 1. I have existing 8 gauge power and ground that connect to the primary battery less than 3feet from the amp. I would like to run this amplifier initially to power a subwoofer 4ohm off of chan 3/4 and leave chan 1/2 empty. Would this be ok? I would upgrade to 4 gauge when I hook up the front 2 chan. 2. I have a pair of RCA's from my sub out on my HU. Is this going to provide enough signal or does this amp require all 4 rca's to be hooked up. I think they should be ok, but just wanted to ask. 3. On the cross over pots, they are marked as 50hz to 500hz. Is it safe to assume that it if I placed the pot in …

Any updates yet? Can't decide to wait for a 10 or just get a 12. If the price diff is minimal, I'll probably end up getting a 12.

Ok I was planning on strapping 2 saz 1500's to get around 3k watts out of the two. Around this time I was planning on using a full loaded Fi btl 18; but now I've decided I want to run a TC sounds LMS 5400 18. This is the probably being that the lms 5400 is a dual 2 sub which mean .5 ohm which is a NO NO for 2 saz 1500 strapped. Idk what to do. I've considered running 1 amp per VC but I know that if I don't have my setting right for both amps I could really mess some shit up lol. Should I just run 1 per VC or should I sell the amps and buy the Saz 3000? I know the easiest choice would be sell them for the 3k but I would rather run 2 amps then 1 amp. SHIT! lol

wondering if its possible to only use one input when bridgeing a 100.2? i know alot of the oldschool stuff i used to run you only needed one channel (usually the right) when bridgeing. the reason i ask is because im going to run two bridged 100.2s as a stereo pair and would like to avoid any funky Y-splitters or anything like that.

    1) Would it harm the amp if you do not use all the channels? Need to send one of my speakers back for warranty and wondering if there is no speaker on channel 4 if that would hurt the amp. 2) Friend wants to upgrade his system. What type of power does bridging channels 3 & 4 give? Want to possibly run a pair of components and a sub.

Quick help needed please... I have a 2.35 cubic foot enclosure for 4 E8's powered by an SAE 1200. I'm going to use a 6" port, can't make my mind what to tune it to 30-35 hz. Is a 6" port, 28.26 sqare inches to much port area for this combo? I see people using a single 6" port for up to 4 cubes. I'm a little worried about the subs unloading and damaging the suspension.

I received my refurbished sae-1000d yesterday. I actually looks really nice. The picure here showed a couple of little marks on the cover, but they are hardly noticable. Hooked it up at 2ohms and wow! I was very impressed with it. The specs say that it does 600rms at that resistance but it definately puts out more than my "900rms" kenwood. Alot cleaner sounding too. I was having a really hard time setting gains last night too. I think i need to find someone with an o-scope. Just though I would compliment Sundown for working with me on getting my amp and, though I don't know very much about car audio, I was really impressed with it.

Hello Jacob and all of the Sundown community, Very new here, and thanks for having me. There seems to be an ambient thermal issue and was looking for some advice. I have my 1500d mounted on the back fold-down seat in a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am SE1. The problem is, the temperatures here are peaking @ triple digits here lately, and average temps are around 98F-99F. Well, when I get in the car (usually around noon, lunch break), the amp is already hot, I cant leave my hand on it more than about 5-10 seconds. This is because I leave my seat folded down and the direct sunlight is shinning on the amp, however, if I have the seats folded up, and let it down when I take my lunch br…

Box outer dimensions (.75 mdf) - 40" x 13.75" x 8.5" = 1.91 cubes After subs, ports and bracing = 1.65 cubes Box will house four E8's firing up. I have 10' of 2" pvc so I'd like to use it since it's free. Will two 2" ports 8.56" long tuned to 34hz give me good output? Also I have a choice of firing the ports down or to either the driver or passenger side, do not have room to fire up with subs. Give me your thoughts please on this design. Power comes from a Sundown SAE-1200D = 1200 watts @ 1 ohm @ 12.8 volts. Box will be behind the seats, raised off the floor, in a small MR2 with about 30 - 35 cubic feet of interior volume.

i have a 2011 4 door wrangler and want to install 2 - e8 v.2, 8" subs in the rear floor cargo area. i measured roughly .55 cubic ft., i will pour water in it to get exact..... is there enough air volume for 2, was planning to secure a 3/4" mdf baffle to the bin, bottom mount the subs. i was hoping to be able to use the stock cover and floor mat to conceal them. i have an alpine pdx 1000.1 to power them. any support would be great. thx
