Building these for a customer... I wasn't happy with the limits I was facing with the 10" 12-spoke frame so I grabbed some different frames to use for this project ! One picture for now until I get some stuff back from the machine shop... but what is to come : Z v.3 Spider w/ Double Leads and Triple Joint Ring Z v.3 Vented Spacer Ring (from 18" Z v.3) Basket coil cut-out OD expansion at local machine shop Custom made spider riser made at local machine shop Wide-Roll Surround 10" Cone Full Length NS v.2 Coil The customer is planning to use quite a bit of power on these so I wanted to do something a bit special... anyone that knows me knows that I hate making 10s with 3" c…

Yes... "Blownest" may not be a word... but I think it needs to be after seeing this woofer. I do not know who this belonged to exactly but Nick @ SI is re-coning it at my shop today so we thoroughly documented the carnage. Just had to share. * Thats not so bad, right ? * Well... that isn't normal. * Back of the surround should be gray. * Melted material and discoloration on the pole. * Wow. * Kapton wrap of the former is melted and puddled up on top of the triple joint. * That used to be a plastic former cap from under the dust cap. * The solder actually re-melted... * Some of the solder formerly from the connection point * That should be black. * Insider of…

Hey guys, I'm new here.....thought I would come ask the experts. Well I recently purchased a barely used 1500D. Previously I ran an mrd-m501 for about 2 years to 2 12" R's, then I swapped it out for the saz, running it at 2 ohms. alls I did was swap the wires. the 1500D worked flawlessly for about 2 weeks, then all of a sudden today it got protection happy. my electrical is stock 105amp alt. stock batt. with 4 gauge wiring. It was fairly hot today, +35*C......so when it kicked into protection the 1st time I pulled over, checked the connections, turned it back on and it worked. the 2nd time it kicked into protect it wouldnt go back on I turned everything off except the a…

So our warehouse is fairly empty right now -- but we have all sorts of inventory coming into stock within the next two weeks or so! We are working hard to prepare for it as there will be a TON of shipping going on. Hopefully the Holiday season doesn't delay delivery for too many folks who put in pre-orders -- I think it will probably take us a full 5 or 6 work days to get all of the pre-orders out to everyone once everything arrives; I am planning to work late as well during those days to speed it up as much as possible... currently expecting our shipments to be in around December 12th to 15th (of course this could change but we'll keep you guys up to date). Most of the S…

Hey jacob, i know several people on here are really looking foward to the 250.2 that will be released in near future, but whats the update on the amp and the stage it in before it hits production? I decided to move away from looking into the spl lanes and hit up the sq lanes because trunk cars are pretty hard to get loud and i think this amp will be perfect for powering two subs using an a/b class amp for possibly mounting 2 12's or so IB or possibly sealed. just looking for a few things like what time frame we're looking at for preorders and when it should all be available to public. If my brother desides not to use some PDX amps (worried about space and mounting on top…

These will be on their way to me soon for testing... no ETA just yet, though SA-10 : FS : 31.6 Hz Qts : 0.45 Qes : 0.49 Qms : 5.64 VAS : 21.9 L Mms : 187.4 g ---------- SA-15 : FS : 30.9 Hz Qts : 0.60 Qes : 0.66 Qms : 6.12 VAS : 92.7 L Mms : 308.4 g ---------- I can't wait to get to testing If you are wondering why the Fs isn't like 20 Hz on the 15 inch... that is because we stiffened it up a bit to keep box size down.

So my friends set up is a single sa 15 in a 6.5 net cu ft box with 91.5 in Sq port area and it's receiving roughly 950 watts. After normal play for about an hour the motor gets very warm and we noticed today that around the cone there is a small amount of tearing on the surround. Not sure why this is happening knowing that the sa's can take quite a bit of beating . maybe the box is just to large for the woofer and it's causing some thermal stress on the the motor. Just curious what might be the problem and if there is a solution.

Hey everyone, new member here. I was reading up on sundown amps and they seem extremely fantastic for the money. Well anyways, I picked up a set of boston pro60 components. They are rated at 125w rms @ 3 ohm (yes, wtf is it 3 ohm?) Now the problem is that I want to get a nice clean amp to power those components. I dont want to spend outrageous amounts of money either since I've gone WAY over budget already (blew a ton of cash on a p800prs head unit) Now I was thinking about the 100.2 but my concern is that there is not enough power. Also for the ratings I've seen, it goes from 4 to 2 ohm. Should I just use the number in the middle of the two ratings to find out what 3 ohm…

The first pre-sale was so popular we sold out before the amps even arrived... so we are doing it again Same deal as last time around! $850 for one $825 for two (each) $810 for four or more (each) Paypal me at [email protected] to Pre-Order! OR Order on our cart system here : http://www.sundownaudio.com/presale/ The current ETA is around the end of August -- this is a rough estimate. As always, with a pre-order the ETA is subject to change based on shipping delays, etc, etc. PLEASE do not pre-order unless you are okay with any delays that may occur. They feature 33% more output FETs than the current 3000D... a quad transformer setup (more efficient)... and some ot…

No offense to anyone, ive never heard one. i'm just curious, but what is so great about a sundown audio amp, I have read the specs and they seam good, but there thd distortion isn't that low, and people always recommend the 1500rms version for an xcon and I always wondered why?? I have read they have plenty of raw power, but i'm the kind of guy that likes to know every detail.

Well I got another itch to build another box, so since I was near out of wood and low on funds I was looking around my garage and spy'd a box I had a long while back sitting in the corner. A standard CRX box but with a top plate for 4 10s, so it's 29"x29"x14". So I decided to see what I could do with it, took out the SPAX screws from the top plate, pounded from under it with a hammer and it came off pretty clean. Then fab'd up a box to see if there was some workable area, came up with this. 29x14x16, with a net volume including port of 2.28cuft, there will be 1 45 in the port corner and then .14cuft taken out for the sub itself, should land around 2cuft. Port is 2.25" wid…

Alright.. There is a huge hype on the sa-8's.. badass speakers ive heard.. is the other SA speakers comparable? .. hope that makes sense.. what im asking is would the sa-8 sound better than the 10 or 12? they are all reasonably priced, but if the 8 sounds so damn good can i expect the same from the 12? I know the nightshade is a beast.. thats not in question.

Paul Strouth's Jeep. Currently doing 153.1 dB @ 35 Hz sealed on the dash on the TL with an American Bass 1000.1 wired to 1.33 DCR per "side" (as it is two amps in one). Power not measured but the subs are moving maybe 1/2-3/4 inch P-P wired at that load. Derrick will be in shortly with more pictures and pictures of the TL screen Port is 288 in^2 tuned to around 44 Hz "on paper" but peaks at 35 hz in the vehicle. Roughly 20.4 cubes after port displacement for the box... so after sub displacement just a hair over 1.5 per sub. --- We tested it in an open warehouse section of the shop... and it did a number on my office : --- 153.1 @ 35 Hz run We'll get more up as soon as…
