so im trying to decide wether i should buy a sundowns amp or a kicker amp. Ive heard a lot of people saying that sundowns sucks and their amps are for little girls. I dont know what to believe, ive looked on the internet and seen some bench tests showing sundowns 1500 watt amps being able to do 3423 watts @ .5 ohms. That seems a little unrealistic, I need the most wattage possible, and if sundowns amps are terrific then im sure I will become a sundowns fan boi and become in love with all other sundowns owners.

  4. What's up guys, I have a 00 jeep grand cherokee. I have two crescendo 5500s and three zv4 18s which I'll be selling for two nsv3 18s. This is my first wall I'm building and I want to make sure I'm using the right ratio and box size. I was thinking of using a 3:1 ratio and anywhere from 2.5-3 cubes sealed per woofer and 15-18 ported for the pair with a 25-47hz range. Any help or suggestions is much appreciated.

Well I former friend of mine is finally getting some gear, and he is being his normal self and competing with me. Hi got 2 15"s of these: http://www.splusa.net/SW_S3.htm And he is saying that he is gonna walk all over my 12" Nightshades and 3000D. Is he that pig headed? Yes I think so; he is convinced that any 15" is gonna be louder than a 12". I think he knows I'm gonna be louder than him so he is mad about it...or maybe its cause I'm dating his ex This kid also doesn't know anything about car audio, Ive tried to teach him but he is thick skulled. Any Input?

I have talked to several other Team Sundown members and all of us seem to want the same thing, bigger amps:D Its ok running several 3000D's(becomes a space issue) but it would be very nice to have a 5k or even a 7k. I am sure there is a big enough market that these would sell. Everyone wants big power now and this would do the trick. For the other people that would like bigger Sundown amps please post here!

I am opening the pre-order for the SAE-1000D as of today. Pre-Order Pricing: 1x SAE-1000D = $250 2x SAE-1000D = $450 MSRP pricing is $399 per amplifier. The due date is April 25th but these things tend to be 1 - 2 weeks late due to delays in transit so that is not a guaranteed ship date. I would expect to ship these, realistically, by May 9th. If you are in a rush I would not place a pre-order due to the possibility of delays. Paypal to [email protected] -- these prices include shipping in the USA. If you want to pre-order in Canada you must contact Steve Ross @ Smart Auto Sound Solutions in Canada. Pre-Order will be open until April 25th, after that you will have…

I have started development on our Z v.3 woofer -- it is designed to increase thermal capacity a bit from the v.2 and also to be available for a lower price. We are outsourcing the build to our build house that we use for the SA series... BUT we are shipping USA made coils from Precision Econowind over to be used in them The advantage of USA coils ? The Z v.3 passed a 1500-watt 60 Hz sine wave test for 5 minutes with a Chinese coil... but they only take 300 degrees! Well... American coils take 500 degrees! So think that over a bit We are talking 66% higher temperature handling and the speaker already passed the thermal test with the lower temperature coil. Trade offs vs.…

We did 148.6 on the first run but we didn't take a picture... got hot after a couple of burps so it went down a hair We have four 1500Ds @ 2 ohms each on it, no clue on actual power after rise - but I think it would actually sustain more on a burp. Not bad for my upcoming 1000-watt rated woofer, huh ?

    * Dust cap... applied with three types of glue. 1) Green "special" glue to hold down stiffening disc (can't see the disc) 2) Black flexible glue to hold the cap to the disc 3) Clear epoxy to cover the height of the disc / cap combined around the edges * Surround is applied with flexible black glue as well * Triple joint - the cone doesn't meet the spiders, so it's a "dual triple joint" setup. Used glue all the way across the gap. Spider also glued down with "special" glue (yes, it's green) - then the gap between the outside of the spider and basket filled in with green special glue. * 18" 6-spoke doesn't have windows so spacers used for venting. ---- The green glue is e…

As previously discussed I'm working on a 1000-watt line -- I've had motor samples for some time... now I have full samples with production equivalent soft parts on the way. As of now I still have work to do in order to dial the specs in just right -- I have another coil / gap variation to test with. I am getting a pair of samples as they sit in to test with the soft parts then I'll be testing the last variation... then likely will be ready to start making 12s at that time. Cosmetically looks nearly identical to the SA-12 with the exception of a 20mm wider magnet, a different spider for the 3" coil, and double tinsel leads. You will note it has the new ventilation / spacer…

So... who would do it ? Lets say if this amp was a full 1 dB louder than even the SAZ-3500D on 12v @ 1 ohm... and the 3500D was already 1 dB louder than the 3000D. Maybe it's already been in testing for a while So we are talking ~2dB gain from the SAZ-3000D on this bad boy. Pre-Order price would be around $1200 or so shipped. Lets see a show of hands.

I got some photos of the prototypes in from my factory -- they are looking good. Of course the terminals will be bent down and whatnot in production. The motor is equal to the NeoPro-8 model. The only negative is that I am not sure how pricing will go on these Neo drivers -- Neo prices are going crazy and it may result in the NeoPro drivers rising in price. For reference... I got Neo quotes for my big Neo SPL motor and it was 300% higher than in 2009 -- no joke! BUT I will try to keep making them if possible as people really do enjoy them  We'll probably do some testing in Derrick's ride to see how they do.

Been working on these for a while but haven't said much... but Andy @ Vex has posted some videos so figured I'll open it up now -- some photos : I have requested spring loaded terminals for production since I hate spades... also will have our logo on them. They are all single 8-ohm so more can be wired to one amp -- the 200.4 can power 32 of them Flat, tied down tinsel leads as I could still hear lead-slap on mid-bass heavy material on our first sample... good quality paper cone... vented neo motor for high power handling. What is different ? Well... we made a real CAR speaker here. They will have great mid-bass in IB or sealed -- this sacrificed some of the sensit…

I'm going to be powering 2ea Fully Loaded 4" Voice Coil FI Audio BL15's (1,500rms ea) and I currently have a Rockford Fosgate Power 2500bd-1 Amp but i'm curious how the Sundown SAZ-2500, SAZ-3500 and the SAZ-4500 Compare to the Power 2500. I have 2 power 2500's right now still in the box which box say over 3,100 watts ea at 1ohm. The biggest reason I ask about the comparison is the cost of the SAZ-4500 is the same cost at the Power 2500. Is there just too much brand name mark up in the Power 2500 or is it a solid amp for the money? My Power 2500 Birth Sheets say...

PRE-SALE ORDERS ARE FINAL - THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS -- If you are not 100% sure you will be financially stable then don't pre-order. No more exceptions. THESE WILL NOT BE IN UNTIL AROUND THE END OF OCTOBER!!! If you want something sooner the 3500s are expected in before the end of August so I suggest getting one of those. DO NOT pre-order if you are in a rush or on a dead-line -- as always there can be delays with pre-orders.
