Sundown Audio

I want to know a single SA-8 V1.5 T Line enclosure design for a sedan. The sub will be daily played and I have 650rms on it.

I just had my first time on the meter today at Slamology and I didn't do too bad, a 140.5db. The enclosure is 5cu net (to oversized for big power) tuned to 33hz (obviously not spl oriented) ran off a Sundown SAZ-1500D@ 1ohm. For a system that is made to get low and have moderate volume ability, it exceeds expectations. I did lots of demos and impressed the hell out of people that gave "just 8's" a chance SUNDWON AUDIO FTMFW!!!! BTW- the vehicle is an 07 Ford Escape and I believe that there is more in this current setup

I've seen a lot of the testings use 1/2 ohm loads on these amps. Is it practical and safe to run 1/2ohm on a regular setup? I want to add a second sub to my setup and my current sub is 2ohm dvc. Adding another one of those puts me at 2 ohms or .5 and Id rather go .5 if I can. My other choice is buying two new subs instead of one and that is a lot more money. Appreciate any input here

Well gents, I have accepted the task of getting the 'Rides' section of Sundown Audio website back up and keep it relativly updated. Glad to be 'partially on-board' the team here... . So I got bored today and decided to test the Nightshades limits.. it was taking every note solid @ 1500watts without even breaking a sweat... So I droped it down to .5, lowered the gains a lil bit... testing it at typical music levels seemed to do pretty good.. a lil stress but nothing serious... put on Burning Up Chopped in Screwed... pretty much flexed the piss out of the car for 15 seconds and it started smelling bad... turned it down real quick. Put it back to 2ohms... played fine for a little and then gave out. Sooo Jacob any type of specialized recone I can get =D? I ripped her apart to find this...

Just picked up my new Sundown 3500D's this morning with Eastern N.C.'s Rep and good buddy DJ Williams. Left out this morning at 4:30am (now that's devotion) and braved the bad traffic going and coming back from Jacob's shop. Let me tell you, yall ain't ready for the new amps! They look fantastic and have got me excited enough to get right to work on getting my upgrades installed. ok well im getting all my stuff togather to start glassing the doors...... i got my mdf rings in today.... i pulled out a E8 to check the fit... it is perfect! but! see here....... a e8 its all free and open right near the gasket.... 1 MDF ring...... see how it closes off some of the free area near the gasket..... lets see two rings. it seems to close it all off..... am i gonna have a problem with choking the sub??? thats my first question... my second is.... im gonna be running these 2 8's for mid bass...... what amp should i use to really power these big boys? i currently own a 100.4..... but if you feel i should pic up another amp i sure will jacob than…

You guys know I am always working to improve things! As good as the SA series is I sat down and though, "How can I make them better ?" A few things came to mind on the 10/12/15 design : 1) I tested a different rear pole flare shape that is a little more efficient so I will be implementing that. As if the SA needed more thermal capacity, right ? 2) I am going to add a magnet ID shorting ring -- almost nothing in this price range has a shorting ring (the Type-R is one of the few I can think of). This will reduce inductive distortion and produce a bit less reactive impedance rise. So these are some things I'll be working on introducing to the SA series around summer time. …

Ok guys what you think two sundown SAZ 3000s with either FI BTLs or the MTX 9500s? i have both sets with size being 12s. i was wondering cause im going to start on a new box? Im looking for SPL but also SQ for daily driving.

So Yesterday I went to my authorized Sundown Dealor, and got the SAX-1200D. Today I had it installed on my BL. So whenever the gain is turned up past half way it blows all the fuses!! Has anyone had a suimilar problem.. I know sundown is good stuff, so I will be sticking with them, but I want to get full use out of this amp. so will be taking it back in the AM. but I love the sound that im getting thanks

Well its tax-return time and I'm officially debt free, and its also the the start of audio season. The question is should I buy and build a new street A car. This season the car would get a modest treatment, 2 runs of 1/0 wiring, a good battery, 2 saz-3000d's, 2 (10" subs undecided but would have to be pretty beastly). The following season it would get the fun treatment, 4-6 runs of 1/0, countless hours of termlab testing/box building etc... Should I do it, represent Sundown Audio and SSA again? I'm leaning towards yes, Its a great hobby and if I could nab a cheap crx/omni etc... I should be pretty solid in the north east.

Like the title says, my Nightshade v.2 12 D1 has showed up(fedex saturday delivery ftw). All I can say is wow, the wickedest sub I've ever seen! The comparison pics vs the SA-8 will show how big(61lbs to be exact) these subs really are. Hopefully the 1500d is up to the task, if not I guess Ill be upgrading my sundown arsenal somemore. i have 2 sa 12's the box is .75 mdf outside measured 40.75wX12tX20d. im looking for a tune of 35hz looking to do meca as well is been a while. where do tune need to be for headrest still tuned high or lower? whats the best way to change the port for competing? subs up port rear

Testing to see how well it keeps the coil temperature down by seeing how much power compression we get. Quoted from video : "Testing our new "woofer power test" rig... we have an adjustable voltage knob on the wall socket to get the power level we want. For the first 2 minutes or so we are trying to read on the "power" setting on the clamp but it didn't want to cooperate so I changed over to simply amperage and voltage afterward. At 2:20 we have 11.64A/61.6V for 717 watts... after a full 4 minutes and 45 seconds at 7:05we still have 11.19A so the sub is still seeing 689 watts. So we are seeing VERY little power compression even above rated power on a pure 60 Hz sine wave …

I like these subs and they were tough to beat for the price. (Light, Loud, Clean, Effecient) I didn't have ONE unhappy SD-1 customer. What was everyone's opinion on these subs? Look. An unofficial 130dB off a "100" watt amp. Enclosure by James Taylor.
