Testing to see how well it keeps the coil temperature down by seeing how much power compression we get. Quoted from video : "Testing our new "woofer power test" rig... we have an adjustable voltage knob on the wall socket to get the power level we want. For the first 2 minutes or so we are trying to read on the "power" setting on the clamp but it didn't want to cooperate so I changed over to simply amperage and voltage afterward. At 2:20 we have 11.64A/61.6V for 717 watts... after a full 4 minutes and 45 seconds at 7:05we still have 11.19A so the sub is still seeing 689 watts. So we are seeing VERY little power compression even above rated power on a pure 60 Hz sine wave …

I am nearly finished building my amp rack but recently read quite a few things about amps getting hot and going into thermal protection and got me thinking. I know there is very little airflow if any over my amps due to how my amp rack is setup and the amps being right behind the back seat. Has anyone added fans to their amps to try and keep them cool, any tips on how to go about doing this? I was wondering about maybe removing the bottom cover and just aiming a fan like a 80mm or 120mm computer case fan at the innards of the amp, or maybe machining the bottom cover to hold an exhaust fan inside the amp. I figured I could wire them up with a relay off the remote turn on l…

Hey everyone I'm, having issues right now with my amp. I don't know too much about wiring and etc but my installer says that the amp I have isn't stable at 2ohm's and won't try 1ohm for fear of blowing the amp. It's stable at 4ohms but thats it, so right I have no idea what to do about it. Is the amp just bad? I ordered it almost two months ago but just installed it today and forgot to even see if I had a warranty when purchasing. Also the amp as it is now is pushing two AA havoc 12's in a sealed box and the amp is just rattling BAD. Like real real bad were it's so annoying and loud that everyone can hear it. So whats going on? Is this amp just bad in both it's st…

So we are bringing it back again. This is how it works. 1) You e-mail me with what you have ([email protected]) -- it MUST BE a working amplifier (no speakers, no blown amps, nothing else). 2) I tell you if I will accept this item and how much credit I will give for it. I base this on forum and e-bay resale values AND my own records of used item sales. If you are going to get offended by an offer then please don't contact me - I have *extensive* used item re-sale experience from the previous trade-in program so I am very familiar with what I can ACTUALLY get for used items. 3) You either accept or deny my offer... if you accept the offer you then ship the item in …

You guys know I am always working to improve things! As good as the SA series is I sat down and though, "How can I make them better ?" A few things came to mind on the 10/12/15 design : 1) I tested a different rear pole flare shape that is a little more efficient so I will be implementing that. As if the SA needed more thermal capacity, right ? 2) I am going to add a magnet ID shorting ring -- almost nothing in this price range has a shorting ring (the Type-R is one of the few I can think of). This will reduce inductive distortion and produce a bit less reactive impedance rise. So these are some things I'll be working on introducing to the SA series around summer time. …

  7. Just picked up my new Sundown 3500D's this morning with Eastern N.C.'s Rep and good buddy DJ Williams. Left out this morning at 4:30am (now that's devotion) and braved the bad traffic going and coming back from Jacob's shop. Let me tell you, yall ain't ready for the new amps! They look fantastic and have got me excited enough to get right to work on getting my upgrades installed. I am a little tired, a little hungry and well- I don't have to tell much more than that....LOL. :bigclap:

lol okay now that i got your attention i will make my lil review haha. so...my first reaction when i saw this amp internally was "this must be a POS it looks like a damn power acoustik or some thing like that internally" but that amp reaaaally proved me wrong. i used that amp @ .35 (strictly for spl) and it is one tough mofo i did a bit over 15 burps on drained batteries...my voltage drop was from 14.1 to 13.0 with one optima g31 and 1 crappy batt up front on my blazer. i got a 146.2dbs with 1 DD 9515. the amp never got hot during the burps, it didnt blow the fuses, go to protect or even burn...i used it at a comp yesterday and i did a 146.1 and got 1st place with it. so …

I just had my first time on the meter today at Slamology and I didn't do too bad, a 140.5db. The enclosure is 5cu net (to oversized for big power) tuned to 33hz (obviously not spl oriented) ran off a Sundown SAZ-1500D@ 1ohm. For a system that is made to get low and have moderate volume ability, it exceeds expectations. I did lots of demos and impressed the hell out of people that gave "just 8's" a chance SUNDWON AUDIO FTMFW!!!! BTW- the vehicle is an 07 Ford Escape and I believe that there is more in this current setup

The 6.5" is NOT yet available... just testing the sample. Very smooth measured response on these... can cross as high as 4-5k for tweeters that don't like much mid-range output. Measured open baffle -- in a baffle low-end would increase on all of them but you can see the trend as the very deepest bottom end increases as you go up in size and the top-end increases as you go down in size.

Built one yesterday almost full production specifications -- only difference to production is a small change to the coil (those coils are not in stock yet -- they are the last part I need). Specifications : RE: 1.9 ohms (D1 in series) FS: 42.2 Hz (5 minute break-in) Qes: 0.480 Qms: 4.024 Qts: 0.429 Le: 0.980 mH Vas: 49.725 L BL: 16.238 NA Mms: 251.09 g Cms: 56.48 uM/N Sens: 90.76 1w/1m Sens: 97.00 2.83v/1m FS will drop along with Qts as Cms increases with break-in. * Light weight cone with narrow / tall surround (standard) -- the Nightshade cone can be used for ULTRA high power applications * Single lead spiders (standard) -- double lead are optional

This is the second one I've made. They are a pain in the butt to do... so I never offered them openly. Everything is so tight even the tied down leads smack the cone -- so I will likely go in and glue on some felt pads behind the cone. In any event... here she is : * Yes, the dust cap JUST fits inside the surround... actually have to pry it out with a screw driver even without glue. * Terminals come out to the side so I can solder the leads after assembly. * Big motor on small frame !

Ok so here's the deal...I ordered 2 sa15's 2ohm and a saz-1500d v2 The ported size is 3-4 cubes so I found a ported box that had 3.05 cu ft for each sub and tuned at 29hz...so come to find out that's the gross cu ft and it has 2.55 per sub, so my question is...is this box waaay to small for what I have? If so there is a audio place near by I could have build me a custom box....so if I go this route what do you guys think on a box? It will be my everyday driver and im just lookn for some hard hitn bass, for all tyeps of music but mainly hip/hop, rap....not to concerned with db numbers. I know you guys have played with many different boxes and tuning so just point me wh…

The new Mega-Roll v.2 surround achieves ~5% variation over a span of ~60mm p-p stroke. That is a huge improvement over the already excellent compliance behavior of the Mega-Roll v.1 surrounds. We've rolled out the Mega-Roll v.2 on the X, Z, NS, and TEAM lines already  The graph does not extend farther due to power limits of the Klippel machine @ Red Rock Acoustics (Capped at 1kw for the laser according to Patrick) -- but it's safe to say there is no trend showing the linearity will end any time soon after the range on the graph. Clearly, we have improved suspension induced distortion once again with the new Mega-Roll v.2 surrounds! It's something that worked …

Had alot of requests for pricing so here it is. Standard (you can pick 2 or 3 spiders): 10" - $415 / MSRP - $535 12" - $425 / MSRP - $550 15" - $440 / MSRP - $570 18" - $480 / MSRP - $620 OPTIONS: Double tinsel leads* - Add $10 Nightshade Cone** - Add $10 Nightshade Spiders (you can pick 2 or 3)*** - Add $20 Additional spiders (more than 3)**** - Add $5 each * - If you will be running an amp at 0.5 ohm or more than 2000 watts or so I suggest this. Generally speaking you will not need it if you are not an SPL competitor putting large amounts of burp power to the driver - but it is there if you want it. If you don't need them I suggest not getting them as they can chatter a…

So I got bored today and decided to test the Nightshades limits.. it was taking every note solid @ 1500watts without even breaking a sweat... So I droped it down to .5, lowered the gains a lil bit... testing it at typical music levels seemed to do pretty good.. a lil stress but nothing serious... put on Burning Up Chopped in Screwed... pretty much flexed the piss out of the car for 15 seconds and it started smelling bad... turned it down real quick. Put it back to 2ohms... played fine for a little and then gave out. Sooo Jacob any type of specialized recone I can get =D? I ripped her apart to find this...

Just showed up today. Need a bit of tweaking still (they don't have the stiffer surround on them yet, etc) but at least we have the first looks at them and our new terminal blocks too  * Z v.4 12 on the left and X-12 on the right. * Z v.4 12 on the left and X-12 on the right. * New terminal blocks ! * Z style spider -- these will feature one fewer layer than the Z models. Coil is also lighter on these but overall FS should be right at or slightly below the Z counterparts in stock format. * Essentially looks like a "mini-Z" style motor... 190mm magnet vs. 220mm on the Z series / 66mm tall stack vs. 75mm tall stack / thinner steel / less expensive round wir…
