I have 2 sa 12s in a ported box and I've been thinking of trying to build a 4th order or just buying some sa 15s and building a ported box for them. So my question is could the 12s be louder in a 4th order than the 15s in a ported box tuned to say 30hz? They would both be ran on a saz1500 and space isn't an issue for either and they would be ran in the same vehicle

Sundown SD-3 Line : In the Works ----- Thanks to the success of the SD-2 8" model I started developing the SD-3 line; this will replace all SD-2 models in 8/10/12" sizes (there is no 15 in this series). The SD-3 motor and coil design will become under-hung like the 8" model on the bigger 10 and 12" models -- I am also further optimizing the parameters of all models for sealed enclosures... even the 8" model will be tweaked a bit more. They have the same topology as the 8" -- a 1" top plate and 1/2" long coil -- but the 10/12 design uses a 2.5" diameter coil compared to the 2" on the eight. As far as release date... by the time prototype is done and production is done …

Currently have a Sa-8V2 in a 1.2^3 ported enclosure powered off a AQ1200D at 2 ohms(~850RMS).. I would like some more trunk space in my 2014 WRX hatchback and was wondering how these subs sounded like sealed? Or is it even a good idea at all?

  5. I usually dont go out of my way to make these threads but I have to say I am utterly embarrassed by Sundowns lack of ANY customer service. I have dealt with Jacob directly about 5 years ago when ordering my first Sundown amplifiers and have nothing but great things to say about how he treated me as a customer. Fast forward 5 years to today and I am a dealer for Sundown. Im not going to go into how their high shipping costs coupled with their low online pricing makes it IMPOSSIBLE to make a profit on their products and still be competitive. Rather, I want to bring up how utterly non-existent their customer service is. We ordered a pair of Nightshade 18" for a c…

  6. Heads up to everyone about our schedule. Most of the guys going to Slamology will be leaving on Thursday to head up there. I am leaving Friday morning. We will have a booth to show our products at Slamology; we will also be giving out signed posters with our new company model -- if you want to see you'll have to attend Slamology or wait until afterward All of the guys attending Slamology will be back to work on Tuesday *except* for me (**). Limited staff will be at the shop the entire time -- we will not fully close the shop at all but operations will be severely limited Friday and Monday around the weekend of Slamology. ** - I am actually taking a family vacation th…

Had a friend of ours in the industry put these on their Amp Dyno to verify power since people have asked us about it. All SAE amps meet or exceed ratings @ 1 % THD on the Dyno. SAE-1000D v.2 : * 1 ohm Dynamic test; works out similar to clamped results SAE-600D : * Certified; when I did a "clamp" test on the prototype it worked out similarly to the SAE-1000D Dynamic burst as I clamped around 50% over the certified figures. SAE-50.4 : * Per channel * Per channel * Bridged @ 4 ohms

Greetings currently own a z v.4 10. It is a 97 Tahoe being ran off of a saz 2500 v.2. It would be more cost effective to re-cone it to a 18". it would cost little over twice as much two add another z v.4 10, but just because it cost less doesn't mean it will sound better. basically I'm after more output. better low end extension. I had it in my cutlass and it sounded great but in the Tahoe I have a lot more cabin space. any suggestions between the two? thanks in advance for the input.

  11. I know alot of folks have a hard time understanding my explanation of this all in text format; so lets visualize it based on some Klippel results. I had the first Z v.4 15" prototype Klippel tested; as explained on the image the production model will test even better since I did a hyper-extended pole compared to the standard height pole extension on the sample but I haven't had a chance to actually re-do the test -- but I have verified in FEA and via doing similar comparisons with Klippel on other drivers with the same changes what the result would be. The SA-12 is a production unit -- and most people know how an SA-12 sounds; and most people love it. It has what I woul…

  13. So my friends set up is a single sa 15 in a 6.5 net cu ft box with 91.5 in Sq port area and it's receiving roughly 950 watts. After normal play for about an hour the motor gets very warm and we noticed today that around the cone there is a small amount of tearing on the surround. Not sure why this is happening knowing that the sa's can take quite a bit of beating . maybe the box is just to large for the woofer and it's causing some thermal stress on the the motor. Just curious what might be the problem and if there is a solution.

I bought a pair of 10in Neo Pro v2s in 8ohm from WoofersEtc on Amazon. When I received them the box says 8ohm, but the underside of the cone on both of them says 4ohm. I checked them with the multimeter and they both read around 3.8-4ohm. I'm pretty annoyed because I needed an 8ohm load on my amplifier. I'm most definitely not going to pay for shipping to send them back and have new ones sent because the shipping was 40$. I find it odd though that sundown managed to box up and supposedly test these speakers without noticing this. Any ideas on what happened here, and has anyone else had this happen?

I came in yesterday and built this bad boy... a customer had ONE unit on order for a bit and I got a pair of the Aluminum sleeves as samples so I am building this one and one other one this week (both with fat 8-layer coils and are single sub orders). These also don't call for any Gap ID sleeves as they use the fat coil -- so I have enough parts to make them  ----- * Collecting the parts up. * You can see the black coated aluminum pole sleeve in place on the pole but not Gap ID sleeve -- so the overall gap is still pretty massive. The "fat" coil fills it up nicely, though. * Starting the rear glue joint * Rear glue joint completed * Prototype "XL…

Hi so I have a saz 1200d I'm trying to tune it an with the crossover having a wide range from 35hz to 300 I'm trying to find 80hz to 90hz...I have heard that half way was 80hz but Idk... I'm looking at it like the 300-35= 265/2= 132+35= 167hz would be half way with that math.

I had an issue with my NS-1 amplifier. It is a v1, the second edition of the v1. Sundown wants to send me a v2 in a warranty exchange. I need to know what did they change between v1 (revised) and v2 version. Because they're is a huge price difference to pay. :-( I want to know if it is worth the money to have a v2, or if I'd better have it repaired. Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone, I'm trying to build a box for a single x15. It's going to have a 1500w amp wired at 1ohm. The sub is going in a 99 Isuzu trooper so I have a lot of space for the box. The problem is that I have all apple products so I can't download anything to find out what the dimensions have to be. If someone could figure out the dimensions for me I would really appreciate it. I was planning on doing a ported box with the port on the side and the sub facing up and the box tuned to around 30-32 hz. If someone could hel…

All online stores should be updated any time now -- all local dealers have been e-mailed new price sheets as well. If you are a dealer and haven't received it yet let us know as dealer costs are also revised for 2014! The "Team" woofer will likely receive a name change before launch; but we are still debating what it will be -- we concluded that "Team" is too confusing since other people will be able to buy it. Many products that did change changed very little except for big amps and the NeoPro line. I did some massive number crunching to make sure all pricing was on point and mathematically / economically sound for us, dealers, and distributors. Some additional fine tu…

All of the rest of the crew will be at work until Tuesday evening; when a few of the other guys will join me from then for the rest of the week. They will be back on the 12th. Some of the crew will be at the shop the entire time, of course, we will not be closed completely.
