Just to fill you guys in... I've been working on a TON of things for Sundown for the future... hoping to see many of these things next year! I am going to discuss woofer related plans here... things I didn't really mention much in the "New Stuff Coming to Sundown" thread. ----- As you can see the E8 v.2 is available for pre-order now -- I am going to fill out the E line with 10s and 12s. Like the SA line the 8" motor is unique in the line... the 10s and 12s will have a larger motor, smaller than the SA series, though, but also with a 2.5" coil. The coil will be shorter and the depth of the 10" model will be around 4.25-4.5" or so for depth restricted applications. They wi…

What would you compare the output to 1 12, 2 12's, 1 15 (all on same power ~1500 rms)? I know this is install dependent but just curious as too a rough estimate what 4 SA-8's on 1500 rms would be comparable to in output. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Hello all, Here in the Raleigh, NC area I have been around to a few car audio shops to pick up little things from time to time and I notice that most do not carry any Sundown Audio equipment. To me this has been somewhat of a surprise considering the fact that the company is "local", in the sense that it is based out of the same state and is only a few hours away. The response I have gotten from guys that run these shops is almost offensive to me as a Sundown Audio user. When I ask why they don't carry any Sundown they seem to get on this defensive "high horse" stating that either "Sundown equipment is too expensive, and nobody will buy it" or that "they are just a sma…

It passed our brutal 5 minute 60 Hz thermal test at ~2000-watts clamped power (it floats around this number... as we have to adjust the rig as coil heats to try and keep power as close to 2kw as possible). We even put the coils on a DMM at the end of the video. So... without a doubt the NS v.2 will take MUCH more than it's rated power on music thermally having passed this 60 hz torture test where limited coil movement severely limits coil cooling.

Well I have 4 sa-8's and have messed around with 5 different boxes with different configurations. I posted my best score today using MECA AS2 specs. I scored a 137.5 on a single 8" sub. This smoked several larger systems built by people who didn't know any better.

Hi Im very interested in getting my TC-3hp motor rebuilt. I was wondering if you could come up with a recone kit for it. I have the TC-3000 top assmbly. Would you be able to re-use the basket? Would I need to send the motor in or would you be able to send out a re-cone kit? What would the costs be? basically the former on the TC soft parts seperated from the titanium cone. I have had nothing but problems with the TC soft parts. I definitely want a fiber, paper, or plastic cone. The box I am using is 2.94 cubic feet tuned to 34 hz with 56 square inches of port and I am shooting for around 1500 watts rms power handling. Do I have any options with the recone kit?

I assume this is normal. Just curious what causes it to make a clicking noise when turning the amp on or off?

Okay so I got my build done about 5-6 months ago and wired it up and have been running it at .4-.5 ohms with no issues. All of the sudden last Friday it just cut off, no smoke no obvious burn marks. Just went into protect and would not come back out. I know that running it this low can cause issues and so I just went ahead and sent it off to db-r and they think i fried the drive board or the input. My question is can anyone think of what may have caused this. Is it just because i was running it at the .4-.5 ohm load, or can it be something else that i can fix and prevent this from happening again. My electrical is as followed. Big 3 in 2/0 2 250 amp Mechman alts 2 runs…

Ok, so I did an install for a friend in his 2009 Honda civic with a Sundown NS V.2 prototype and a sundown SAE-1200D and we have encountered sort of a serious problem. It seems as if there is some sort of a current draw coming from the amp when it is turned off because if he leaves his car off for more than 24 hours the battery is so drained that it can not start the car... The amp is definitely the problem because whenever I take the fuses out of the amp the car works perfect and there is no current draw. The amp also is completely off whenever the car is off (I checked) and is connected to the ACC fuse for the remote turn on since the car has a stock stereo system. I am…

did some testing with an sa-12 yesterday, and i was amazed at what these little "entry level" subs can do. on with the testing: Car: 1997 Chevy Cavalier z24 w/sunroof Electrical: stock alt, yellow top up front, kinetic 1800 in back, 2/0 welding cable all around Amplifier: One SAZ-3000 Enclosure: 2.7 cube box sub back 6inch aero port firing toward driver side wheel well. Subwoofer: One Sa-12 all testing done using the midwest spl format, meter on dash with window open, my car typically loses.4-.5 by sealing it up. also the subwoofer was brand new out of the box when i started these tests, i did the tests in the order they are listed. back to back about 2 minutes between…

Well, after a couple of weeks of installing 4 of the new Nightshade 15 V.2's I've finally caused a little damage to my truck. Demoing last night on music my windshield came loose at the top of the cab. Everyone was saying my moulding was flopping around and when I poked my head out the side the window, they were right, I was losing air big time from the separation. The bad thing is today is the show and last night I was only at at half knob on the LC-1, I burp at full input signal on the LC-1. Needless to say, gotta go silicone and duct tape the windshield down this morning and since I have to replace it anyway, my goal is to break it on out today during my street beat ru…

So today was a fun day! I kill both of my NS v1 15inch subs by plugging them into a wall socket! (good times) and i took some video's! at any rate it took each sub like 5 minutes plus on a wall socket 120volts at 1ohm (d2 subs) so about 14.4kw of power (via ohms law) and yes i did this b/c i am getting them reconed to 12inch subs! so with out further a-do here are some short video's! these buts were tanks!!! i am going to miss them and they will be reborn as 12's lol!! death of 2-15inch NS v1 :: MVI_1551.mp4 video by CcCrazy - Photobucket death of 2-15inch NS v1 :: MVI_1557.mp4 video by CcCrazy - Photobucket death of 2-15inch NS v1 :: MVI_1556.mp4 video by CcCrazy - Phot…

So I'm running Sundown 100.4 with fronts and backs with no problem for last month or two. But I have a problem with 125.2, I just hokked everything up and this amp that feeds subs is turning on and off constantly, as soon as there is a bass in the song it hits very quiet, barely noticable and amp turns itself off, but as the bass dissapears in the song amp turns itself back on, and it's like that throughout the whole song, it will literally turn on and off maybe 20 times in 1 minute. But the 100.4 runs without a problem in the meantime and rest of speakers play fine. here's the hookup for 125.2 2 Id8's dual voice coil 4ohm http://www.imagedynamicsusa.com/manuals/iD/ID8D4%…

My next build will consist of 4 SA-8's with whichever coil options I need to see either a 1 ohm or 2 ohm final imp. Box will be 2.4^3 net tuned to 32Hz subs up port back. I already have an AP15001D so I could get a second and make an AP30001D. Would be cheaper than the AQX2500.1, but I don't know if the 8's will take 750 a piece daily. I know the AQX2500.1 would be pushing it already. I have ran double rms to an AA Chaos 15 with my AP15001D without any problems. So I know how to watch my system for signs of stress and properly control my volume and gain. Electrical will consist of 140 amp HO Alt, Optima Red Top under the hood, Big 3 in 1/0, 1 run of 2/0 positive from fro…

Okay I'm looking to upgrade from the SA-12's to the new Z12's. I'm going to be powering them with a SAZ-3500D. My concern is designing a new enclosure. I have a slot ported enclosure (3.5 cubes tuned to 32Hz) I would like a ported enclosure using aero ports. My current enclosure measures 36" x 19" x 17". I would like to keep it around that size, any ideas would be appreciated

Runs on 240v AC -- supplying 260 amps continuous current set to 14.8v Hooked up to some Stinger SPV-70s... need to get one more in there. Should do quite well... this replaces our prior setup of three Pyramid 40-amp units (only one recently as we blew up the other two). We went through those on a regular basis... this should be more reliable and much more power than we had before.
