Sundown Audio

Basically, I have just bought two (more) ReSponse 1500 watt amps, same board as the SAZ-1500. These amps are protection happy at 0.5ohm per amp, which puzzles me, as I have used two others in the past, (one borrowed, one mine) that happily played everything, wired at 0.5ohm daily... Does anyone have the schematic of the protection circuit in the sundown amp? so I can potentially compare values, or possibly someone can point me in the direction of what components may need to be changed? thanks!

I have this awesome little subwoofer that i have barely used more than a few hours - and the surround in a small area is comming up from the landing. i heard chuffing in a sealed box with the grommet and thought there was an air leak. upon further inspection i came to notice that the surround was not fully adhered to the basket surround landing! this is a project for a customer of mine, and i have already sent an email into you via your web support contact form - but this is kind of an emergency, as i am supposed to be finishing the fiberglass box for him this weekend - i am about 50% done with it and i am going to push forward with the baffle and port still -…

Ok, I contacted you guys via Facebook to ask some questions about how the Nightshade V1's, and I have yet more questions, but I figured they would be best suited for the forums to inform other people with similar questions. First off.. Do you sell a recone kit for the NSV1's and if so, what's the price? Secondly, I know you said 2.0 Cubed is about right (NOT PORTED) for the NSV1, but I'm sick of seeing the same square/Rectangle boxes, with the same slot-ports. Any ideas on a cool looking (and still functional) box? All would be done with 3/4 MDF, and if so, what programs do you recommend for designing boxes? Sundown did a hell of a job @ MidwestSPL finals this past weekend. Klade Turner and Daniel Arbuckle (ME) were both in the same class and took 1st and 2nd place in the Basic 4 class. Team Sundown FTW! I took second in a "pretty box" with two 15" Nightshades, Klade took 1st place. WTG Klade! Had never met Klade before this weekend and was glad to meet him, great competitor there. GJ! I've had this amp for about a month now and yesterday as I was driving around I lost power to the front speakers. I thought nothing of it just thinking that the power wire may have slipped out. So when I got home I checked and the power wire is in, all the fuses are fine and there is power flowing through the power wire. The remote wire is also in and has power flowing through it. The amp does not turn on or go into protect. Not sure what else this could be.

I decided to make the switch to these from my Image Dynamics X69s. The X69s were awesome because they were a breeze to install. They did not come cheap though. My biggest gripe with them is that well they basically kept falling apart on me. I had the voice coil separate from the cone three times. Yes I was giving them way beyond the recommended power, but the coils still never even smelled, the speaker just came apart. I was able to sell the pair to cover the cost of these speakers and some luckily. First impressions unwrapping, the cone is not a beauty to look at lol. Hey all I have an issue that's starting to annoy me. I currently have 2x sundown 2500d strapped at 1hm each. Running 2X 15" in a 10 cube box tuned to 32hz. Electrical is dc ho alt 270, xsD3100 in front and rear. 3 runs of power and grounds are all doubled in 0 gauge. What's happening started with the new box. The last box was a perfab bout 6cubes. When I play some songs that get real loud my slave cuts off. I can play it fine on alot of songs but when I get to the songs that have mad lows my slave amp cut out. When I'm driving i never drop below 13.2 Volts and i dont play at idle. Amps never get hot and happens right away when I play Thoes few songs. What should I do!! Ca…

so Ive been workin on my daily driver and what will probably be my tow vehicle if needed today. the plans are Eclipse CD3100 Image Dynamics CTX6.5 coax speakers Sundown audio SAX-100.4 and a pair of Sundown audio SD-1 V1 12s of corse the coaxs and subs are going to be ran off the 100.4 CD3100 installed coaxs installed Ive still gotta run the 1/0g wire and hook up the 100.4 tomorrow before work also Ive still gotta build the box for the subs too and the truck needs a major clean up Ill probably end up steam cleaning the seats and cleaning up the vynal flooring its got in it. the flooring will probably get trashed and swapped out for carpet late this year or early next ye…

hello all, i was just wondering what would be optimal box specs for 2-18" Ns v.1. they're both d1's. power to be ran on them is 2 saz 3ks strapped @ 1 ohm . it says on the website 4-5ft.^3 anywhere form 30-40hz. i was planning on 10 cu. after dipslacement. tuning to 35 hz. 16 in^2 per. cu. ft. gonna go with a center slot port let me know what you guys think. thank you!

So I have been thinking about going to 16 volts. What do you guys think? How much more power should I expect to see from the 1500's?

Jacob I was wondering do you plan on coming out with a larger SAZ model anytime in the near future? I am strongly considering buying 2 more SAZ-3000D's, but if you are planning on coming out with maybe a SAZ-6000D I may hold off for a while.

Just thought I'd post a few pics of my build thats about 45% done. Few Pics of the Van The enclosure: Test fit of the subs I have ripped up the plywood that was bolted to the floor and romoved the back seat. Need to fill the screw holes and tint my windows before I put my enclosure in. When I put the enclosure in I will brace it with 2x4's all the way around.

Before I recommend this build to someone, I want to be sure it would sound ok. I have an associate that has a late 70s Vette. Baddass little car. The previous owner installed a flip screen Pioneer deck, and updated the speakers. He says it sounds ok, and gets loud but lacks the lower end like most installs that don't include subwoofers. What he wants is just to include the low end that the upgraded speakers lack, while retaining as much room as possible due to the tiny cabin this car has. ok guys heres my prob.1st i have 2 saz3ks on 16v wired 2 half ohm on 4 15.2 NS. gains are about 1/2 or so. my prob is when i start 2 turn up the volume on the HU the subs start 2 pop and go crazy!!!! wha could my prob be? i kno it has more in it but i cant get the volume out of it and i wanna wang it at the dub show comin up 2morrow, so i need 2 fix this prob asap. any hellp ould be greatly appreciated. it start 2 pop at about 35/50 volume on the hu sub level on hu is around -3. around 38 is where i usually stop. never had this prob out of the saz1500s i had. wha could be my issue wit this setup.

I have two to build so far -- IIRC this one was a drill slip into the surround. In any event -- just finished the first one and it looks neat so I took a few photos : * This is where it really varies from our other kits. The spider spacer along with dual triple joint rings. You cannot see the 2nd triple joint ring but it is in between the spider layers. It did take a good bit of time to assemble; which is why these kits are "expensive" compared to our other SA kits.

Yes... that is a big hole in the box. Yes... it did 148.3 dB SAZ-3000D @ 1/2 ohm. Nightshade 18" / 5 spiders / D1 Long Coil.

Not really sure what I am asking here but here goes. I am running a TC3000 15"DVC sub. Each coil is 2ohms. I am running this parallel to a SAZ1500d for a 1 ohm load. With no music this specs out at about a perfect 1 ohm at the box terminals. Now whem I measure resistance while music is playing using my trusty calibrated Fluke 87 DMM, The lowest I am seeing resistance-wise is above 3 ohms. It never gets below and of course we are not going to discuss the high point. This is all done on a 60-20 htz sweep. So one of my questions is, does this mean that my sub is at most only getting 500 ish watts? I suppose what I need to do next is measure voltage and current. Was just doin…
