I've waited til I accumulated almost all of the parts before making this build log. This is my 1999 Chevy Blazer ZR2: I got it right around 2 months ago, and have been slowly accumulating audio parts for it. I took care of the important things first (fluid flushes, new hoses, new filters, oil change, fix rear differential leak, etc) so it took a bit longer than expected. The truck itself has a 2" shackle drop and nearly as much torsion bar crank and 31" Cooper STTs. I haven't had the time to take her off-road yet, but that's going to change very soon . The equipment list is as follows: Sundown SAX 100.2 Sundown SAE-1000D SSA Icon 15D2 Polk MOMO 6.5" Components Alp…

It has been far too long since I have had a vehicle that I could do a build in, so I'm super excited to be working on this. The pieces that you can't see are the SS Damp and Overkill in the doors. Equipment as of right now consists of DLS components up front running active off a Sundown SAX 100.4, 2 SoundSplinter Orphan8's powered by a Zapco Ref 750.2, with an Eclipse CD8443 for a head unit. Wiring is from Knu with 1/0 for power and ground, 4 gauge distro'd to the amps, 12 gauge for speaker wire. I'll be replacing the Zapco with a Sundown 1500D when I save up a little more, since the Zapco is my brother's and he's just loaning it to me at the moment. I stabbed a hole i…

Well.....I've switched over to (2) 10'' SSA ICONS sealed from a 10'' Fi BL in 1.25ft^3@33hz. I couldn't get enough port area for a decent ported box so I was forced to ditch the BL. Here's a list of the equipment: Powermaster xs1200 Kicker Hyperflex 1/0 Pioneer Premier Ts-c720 w/ Seas tweets Sundown 100.2 (2) 10'' ICONS in 1.4ft^3 sealed JL 1000/1

So... my buddy finally got his cash together in order to do his audio build. Its a 1999 Chevy Tahoe. The build will consist of the following: -Kenwood HD545u (my old HU. Already installed) -Blue Stinger volt meter (already installed. Need to wire up.) -Stinger 1/0 wire. Got about 25tft total for $50. -Sundown SAE-1200 (sold this to him on the cheap.) -2 12" Fi Q D1's. (These were my other buddies. He gave one to me as partial trade when I sold him my xcon and saz1500. And he gave the other to my buddy that owns the this Tahoe. I sold him mine for $50. Lol. They are both at the Fi factory getting reconed from D2s to D1s. But UPS broke one of the Damn magnets so now the…

Yup, decided id go the other way and make an awesome front stage before tackling the subwoofer stuff first! ive always had different 6.5 comp sets and a sub stage but even with tuning and refining, never felt like you are there at the show front and center. ive gotten the staging close but with active x/o's on a on-axis 2-3 way front stage, i think thats what im really looking for. currently running 01 accord hertz hsk 6.5 comps old pioneer deck, also have a alpine 98-47 that ive had forever. soundsplinter rlp-15 future plans 2-3 way active front stage. ipod/iphone with line driver. or maybe an active deck? us amps md 21 on hertz tweeters 125-200 rms bridged 4 ch. …

Well i started this tonight. I'm still up in the air between picking either Sundown SA 10's, or Skar Audio VVX 10's. I'm kinda of leaning toward the Skars, simply because not many people have the 10's, and i see a lot of SA10 single cab truck installs. But anyway, the box is 2.4 cubes net with 2 4" PVC pipes (flared at the end) tuned to 33 hz. Will finish the box in the next couple of days, but still need to sell me current sub to buy the new ones. Anyone have suggestions on what kind of 10's i should run? I'll be putting about 1300-1400 wrms to the pair. And, is the little "blocker bar" in front of the port a good idea with the port being only about 7" from the sub? i'v…

There are two things I have never had since I got "serious" into car audio. A 10" sub, or a decent dual sub setup. So this is my build for two 10" xcons! Im super excited, they should be finished building and arriving soon, I hope. I am fitting the maximum dimensions of my trunk while still being able to fold up the stock floor and access the spare tire. I was left with 3.11 internal cubic feet without sub, bracing, 45s, or port displacement. This is firing into the car, so I also needed the subs and port to be on the same face. The triangle port is unconventional but takes up less volume than a typical slot port inside the box and also has less port wall surfa…

Starting a new build tomorrow. Going over to frogcase2002's house and we are going to build the box for them inside the trunk of my car. I'll post up some pics of the process and how I like the subs overall. My setup as of now is a single 12 inch zcon d2 running at 1 ohm on a Crescendo bc3500. A singer 250 amp alternator and a sundown sae 50.4 running a set of soundqubed components. Deck is a sony for now not sure of the model number. I have a pioneer 80prs I'm going to install sometime but i have to take it out of my truck first and i wanted to wait to get some better comps and figure out the best placement in my car for tweeters. I'll post up some pics here in a fe…

The sound stuff: AQ1200D amp 2 12" SDC2.5s So after reading all these build logs, i decided to try to build my own box It's not too bad so far for a first try....and the first time using a skil saw LOL. This is all going into a 1999 Civic sedan also here's some pics! My trunk Yes I'm going to fix that gap....i have to cut the top, put those "steps" in place so the subs and port can all fit like they will be on the front. Also need to cut the port back one inch, overestimated it cause i did like five different boxes before i got everything fit. And this was the easiest way to do it, which isn't too bad. I think it should turn out pretty good! What do you guys th…

Well, just to update, I went over to wobbly woofers and had them "tune" my amps (which they did by turning my gain from less than 1/2 way to 3/4.....so at 1/2 volume I was at 10v), so I was like whatever, they know what they are doing.....(I hope), and i asked to get metered on their tl. With the mic in the kick and my door open, I did 142.8 @ 30hz, with the volume 1/2 way and at 12.2v Needless to say, after I left, I went back and adjusted it the way I had it, which is louder and sounds better to me and I can turn up the volume to about 3/4 and still have 13.5v banging. I love these woofers, so crisp, clean and immense output! I wish I had more SSA products. I'm going to…

Thanks to Vertex Audio for the equipment 2 15" IA LI (should arrive any day now) 1 run Shok industries 1/0 1 American Pro VS-1598 Here are some more pics and specs on the amp since it's not a popular amp/brand VS-1598 500rms x 2 @ 2ohms The box is 7ft net tuned to 36hz with 96sq of port. First cut, 1 side of the port Since my table saw was stolen we were using this one- damn it's so nice to use Marking the port 3/4 round over on the port. Trying out the new "jawhorse" thing. It works pretty nice! Also with the small router- really good for laminate and easier to control with my home made base than the large router …
