If you put 2 12's in the same box same power which would sound better? I know its going to be kinda biased but i am debating between these two subs.

Recently I've been thinking about trying to fit a 15" Icon in the trunk of my Sunfire as opposed to the 12" I've planned. I typically would just use a slotted port, but the amount of displacement taken up by the port would bring the box pretty much all the way down to 3cft as opposed to the 4 that's supposed to be optimal. So I've been reading a bit and the idea of using Aero ports kind of interested me. However, does the recommendation for port area remain the same (12-16 square inches per cubic foot)? If so, I would need 2 6" ports or 4 4" ports, and in both configurations the port length would have to be too long. Is my only bet for fitting a 15" is to settle with some…

I have an Icon 15 in 3.5 cubes tuned to 34hz. It is being powered by a JBL GTO 1201.II amp that puts out 1100 watts at 2ohms. When I turn it up I get a smell that almost smells like paint. The gain is set a lil past half way. I notice some people on the forum are powering pairs of the 15s with like 1500 watts from a Kicker amp. Am I setting the gain too high? What could that smell be? Should I turn down the gain on my amp and turn up the sub setting on my deck? The deck I have is the Alpine CDA-9886.

I hate internet shopping but I have approximately 750 watts RMS @ 1 ohm and would like to run a ported 10 in my 2012 WRX. I was just wondering how the GCON stacks up to the Fi Q in terms of Sound Quality? Keep in mind, I only have some listening time with the Fi Q, and IMHO, it is a bargain for the price. If the GCON is close enough, it may be a bargain to the bargain.

My girl has an ICON on 1k in 2.5 cubes tuned to 32hz, i'm meeting full excursion on the subwoofer with our listening habits. I'm looking to upgrade to an XCON so it can handle the abuse better and so we can have possible upgrade(s) in near future. What are the Pros and Cons of upgrading? How does the XCON handle 1k? Looking for short and sweet answers Thanks guys! Dom.

Not sure if this is the right sub forum for this or not. Let me know if I need to move it. I'm in the South Jersey area, I've got a 08 Passat. I wanted to add maybe a 1 12" or 2 10" to the factory sound system to fill out the bottom end. I had a single 10 DCON in my previous car and loved it. I did all my other installs myself, but this time I'd like to have a more professional finish. I saw the SSA HQ is not far from me (about an hour and a half). Does the SSA HQ do installs / have a showroom that I could listen to the other subs they sell (sundown, IA, etc) to see how they all compare? If not, does SSA have any installers in this area they'd recommend?

Hello. I have been looking at the Icon and it seems very impressive. I usually use SQ based sub woofers (alumapro, dayton, zapco, idq) and I have been looking for something with a little more powerful low end while retaining tonality and be under 7" inches deep. The icon looks like the best bang for buck. My favorite sub was an audiomobile mass 12 and Im trying to get a sub that had nice low end like that one to to me but I would like to try a new sub as well so I dont want a tc-9. The box is between 1 -1.2 cuft sealed and will be filled. I purchased a rockford t5001bd for this upgrade and it produces 725 watts at 2 ohms and 1014 at 1 ohm. I would prefer to keep 2 ohm l…

  9. so, i have 2 12" Kicker L7's that i got for a deal. i was going to pair them with a sundown 2500.1. @ 2ohms, they would each see 600rms. (they r 750 rms. so close enough). questions is, if i were to get a single 18" XCON and put it with a sundown 1500.1, so it would be getting 1500rms... would it be louder than the 2 L7's? i know there is no way of saying for sure. but assuming they are both in the optimal enclosures, which would be louder (in you guy's opinions) the Black Friday sale has me thinkin that i might wanna go this route. it/they will be going in my 1994 Toyota Camry wagon so plenty of space. rapid responses would be great as i would have to sell these, and d…

First off my slow ass car...i think im justified in not spending thousands to make it a tad faster. Went from..15" ssd copper coil at 2ohm on an alpine 1000wrms sealed To a larger box with 6" aeroport.. And yesterday came my sundown 1200D + SSA icon D2 running at 1ohm (curtousy of johnecon2001) :bigclap: Im still playing with the settings but man am i satisfied with this combo. Imo the sound quality between the SSD and the Icon are almost identical, but the output from the icon rocks my socks. It hits lows like nobodys business, which the SSD hit um, just not nearly as loud. And that sundown amp stays cool as an ice cube. My hats off to sundown and SSA for the…

So I have been thinking, If I wall off behind the second row I should be able to get about 14 and a half cubes. Subs on the outer sides and 200sqin of port in the middle. I would be uprading the electrical, with h/o alt, big 3, and atleast 5 batts(1 up front 4 in the back). Another saz 1500, and a shit ton of deadner. I will be upgrading my fronstage as well. I am hoping to do atleast around 146 or so. That would be double the cone area and double the power, aswell as aupgraded electrical. What do you guys think????

I put in my order for an SSA Icon 12" driver on either the 27 or 28th of August and to my surprise, the sub will be this Monday. About a 2 week wait! I was not expecting such a fast time. The website says expect a 3-4 week build so I did. I havent even ordered my amp yet! I need to get on it!

4 12" XCON's or 2 15" XCON's? Box is going to be LxWxH = 21x41x24 and shoot for a 32hz tuning. Curretly running an AQ2200d, if i run the 4 12's i will get another. Have yellow top up front xp3000 at rear 230a alt. and big3 done.
