Looking for a little help on deciding which sub setup to run. First off the vehicle is a 2005 explorer. Already have a Sundown SAZ-3500d to power them. Electrical upgrades will be DC 270 amp alt., big three in 1/0, two runs to back of vehicle in 1/0 and 2 D3100 batteries. Purpose of the system is daily ground pounder. Want loud and clean. Listen to a little bit of everything except country. The original plan was 2 XCON 15's in a ported enclosure. I've been reading the forum a lot and watched some videos and have seen some really nice systems using 12" XCONS and ICONS. My uncle suggested I run four 12" ICONS sealed. He has always run sealed enclosures. My dads b…

So I recently posted this thread about the continuous power of the ZED Leviathan amp powering the Image Dynamic CTX65CS comps. I'm on a roll ... - SSA Car Audio Forum I am satisfied to know that the ID comps will run fine with the ZED amps RMS power. I however didn't think about the power handling capability of the SSA DCON 12S4. That sub is rated at 300w RMS and the ZED amp puts out 600w continuous power bridged. Sooo ... will the DCON 12S4 sub be OK with the 600w continuous power that the ZED amp will be feeding it? I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this BUT I just want to make sure. Headroom right?! THANKS!

So I am piecing together parts for my new sound system in my new VW CC. I decided to go with the SSA DCON 12". Before I purchase, I'm not sure weather to get the 12D4 or the 12S4. I know the difference and the advantages (I think). The amp I am using is a 5 channel Kenwood amp. According to the specs in the owners manual it puts out 350w RMS equally in 4ohm and 2 ohm in the sub channel. I understand that if the amp was to put out more power with a 2ohm load then I should def get the 12D4 so I could wire it in parallel and get a 2ohm load and draw more power from the amp. This amp as mentioned earlier however puts out the same amount of power. This means that I don't nee…

We are going to be keeping a 30 driver inventory on hand for more efficient shipping time. This will be a great buffer between SSA and the build house, so in most cases after our inventory arrives, SSA subs will have a 24 hr shipping time frame! This is all in effort to get YOU, the customer a better shopping experience! :drink40: :drink40:

So i just purchased a 1st generation 15" icon from Big E! (great guy) And i've decided to take some pictures and post 'em up here! I had to take the pictures anyways since i have to send them to the real owner of the sub. I decided that there might be a few guys up here who would appreciate seeing them as well! It's also kind of a part 2 for my review on Big E as a seller. I tried to capture the very minimal inperfections.

for my ears that is. I am 32 years old, had dozens of set ups and this thing blows me away. The only thing that I think could have possibly been louder was my first "Big" set up with 6 12s. But this was like 14-15 years ago, and my memory may just be fuzzy. After a 5 minute run around the block at full tilt, I felt slightly nauseous. It's on 1500 watts, ported at 32 hz in the recommended enclosure, firing forward sealed off from the trunk. No pics since my install isn't done. Just wanted to say this thing is violently loud and awesome.

UPS dropped off a little somethin' somethin': First impressions. I didn't have much time to play around with it (gotta go to work soon), so I was pretty careful with the settings. Still, this thing is amazing. Gets loud and LOW. Hopefully I'll get some more work done this weekend (moving bass knob and replacing the crappy cable) and get it tuned a little better, but so far I'm extremely happy with my purchase. SSA's got a customer for life.

Hello everybody, as the title says I want to suprise my husband with a pair of xcon 15s, but I do not want him to be dissappointed with my purchase. After I decided that I wanted to get him some subwoofers for his birthday I started asking him, his friends, and his brothers questions about his current setup so that I would not spend my money in vain. After much research I have narrowed it down to the xcons. My husband claims that he likes sound quality woofers that have the ability to get loud, which I take are right up the xcon alley. Currently my husband has dual 15 inch Diamond TDX subwoofers and I constantly hear him say that they are hard to beat and are the best woo…

So I was doing some research and need some help. I plan to use a box that has the sub facing up and needed to know how tall the box has to be to fit a SSA XCON 18. Can't find info on what the length of the sub is. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Im wondering how a Xcon will perform with 35hz tuning. I know its a little above the optimal tuning but since the majority of music doesnt dip that low I was thinking it may be a good idea. Anybody ever tried it?

Just woundering if a 12" Dcon would work well in a home theater system. It would be in a seald box powered by a 250 watt Dayton plate amp. Andanother question, can you get the Dcon without the logo on the dustcap? Caus I want to go with a real clean look.

hey all my name is Andrew and im new here. i recently purchased a 12'' ssa icon d2 and a us amps xt1600.2. i am looking to build a box for it and had some questions...i am using the re audio box calculator and am looking for a tuning frequency of around 27-30hz. i have been messing around with the calculator and came up with a box that is 28'' wide, 14'' tall, and 18'' deep. port width is 2'' and the 1st port length is 15.25''. the 2nd port length is 8''. the overall ft^3 is 2.763 and the tuning is 27.98hz. does this sound like an ok design? i have heard that a port width of 2'' could possibly cause some port noise? also i was wondering if it mattered where i moun…

Was having a box built by iamamp3pimp for my AA Chaos 15D2 to run off my AP15001D, but had some cash flow issues and had to sell the sub. Box is halfway built. Will be 2.8^3 tuned to 35Hz with a kerf port. It is a copy of the design that was used for my last Chaos 15" with the tunning bumped up from 30 to 35Hz. Here is a pick of the first box, only difference is port tunning and the new box will be raw birch that will be stained Cherrywood in the future. You guys think the Icon will be good in this box off 1500 rms? On a side note, Mark, would it cost xtra to get the full Xcon dustcover ike LoudGeo has on his Icons in the Punisher?

im thinking about adding another xcon 12 and another ed nine.1 im just worried about space if i did it i would want to go ported but i dont know how it would fit seeing as how my 1 12inch xcon takes up a good amount of space in its ported box. maybe seal them up? i just dont want to lose output. what do you guys think of 2 xcons sealed up on 2 ed nine.1's? if i do this they will be going in an 07 ford fusion not in the 02 chevy malibu i have my xcon in now. Thanks guys in advance p.s the xcon is by far the best sounding sub i have ever owned. its starting to break in and get lowder and clearer haha adding another is going to be insane hehehe

Hi- I'm trying to design my box for the Xcon's I am going to purchase soon. I have 13.58 cubic feet gross to work with in my trunk. Problem is, I want to do forward firing sealed off from the trunk and the opening behind the seats is not big enough to accommodate the port. The opening is 35" long and 20" tall. I can't fit a large enough port to be effective. I am considering porting through the rear deck with 6" aeros or something (maybe some huge slot port through the rear deck?), would this be effective? I'm assuming I could still seal all around the ports and have it sound good. My other options are, sealed 15's, sealed 18's (that'd be cool, but idk), or ported 12's. I…

So I drove to Sumter today and met up with Master Yoda for the test and tune. This was my first try on any meter and I really had no idea what to expect. I was kinda worried I might get over there and embarrass myself being a virgin and all. Here are the results 148.55 @ 36hz sealed legal 146.10 @ 40hz Average on music 148.67 @ 36hz Peak music I am always pretty conservative with my gains and noticed zero clipping on the TL meter and also got some suggestions to help improve on this. Yoda is putting this on again in 2 weeks and I am curious to see what I can do with a little tweaking and maybe a little turn of the gain. Not too bad for a first time rookie running SQ sub…
