I have an old SSA Icon 10" laying around somwhere in my garage that I want to use. I was just wondering if anyone knows what the actual weight on those are and if it is okay to use with a single baffle on the enclosure. Its gonna be in a sealed box with 1000-1200 watts max.

How much of a difference is there between the current xcon and the original with the boob dust cap? I know the newest ones have no more pole vent, but that's about all I know besides the aesthetic of the cone/dust cap. Could they be used in the same box?

Ok here are pics of my 10" DCON that I won... :bigclap: . Also I will be posting my build log and review as I go. So here are the pics. Arrival: Open: Angle view due to glare Side view Another side shot Another And the @$$ shot And finally with the SSA Stickers... This speaker is built like a tank. Build quality is top notch and the attention to detail is flawless. I am hoping I can get started on the box's this weekend. I am going with 2 boxes. 1 sealed and the other ported to see what this thing can do and compare. The wife as expressed an interest in this sub, she would like it for her vehicle.

well my sub is out for delivery.... i have my box built... so i am sitting here thinking if there is anything i need so when i get off work i can mount it in the box and go hook it up...... then i started to think... i know how to wire it to a 1 ohm load.... but.. with my alpine type R it had jumper cables to go from one voice coil to the other... then just one speaker wire to the amp... so i only ran one wire out of the box just thinking that is how my Xcon would be... so.... i gues what i am wondering is this how you wire the Xcon ? or do you run speaker wires from each voice coil to the amp ? i guess i could wait and find out... but i would like to have it …

Hi everyone. I need to build a new enclosure for my pair of 15" XCONS. My ported box is coming apart and replacement is unavoidable. I want to build a sealed box and try them out that way for a little while to see if I like it better. If not, I will build a larger ported box later. The recommended optimal volume as listed on the SSA storefront is 2.75 - 3.0. I believe, and correct me if I am wrong, the smaller box will yield a tighter bass, but I am open to all suggestions and opinions. Space is not an issue. Box is going in a Yukon XL and the subs will be powered by a GP3000D, so 1500w to each. My listening preference is rock/metal , but I do listen to R&B/Hip Hop a…

Ive spent all day trying to figure out how to calculate ports and design a box that would fit in my truck like i want it, now im wondering is it even worth it? In yalls opinion what would sound better for a 10" dcon, a small ported box or the optimum sealed. Either box would be sitting in the center of the backseat with the sub firing up in a Crew Cab Colorado. Amp would give 420+ RMS at 2 Ohms or 210+ RMS at 4 Ohms. Just dreaming atm but thats half the fun. Thanks in advance for all the help

As the title says, I should be ordering an ICON soon enough. I just have to wait and see when the credit card payment goes through before I can order this beautiful sub. My current system is two Kicker Comp 10" subs in about a 1.2ft^3 sealed down firing box. The amp is a Kicker a Zx400.1 which is birthed at 484 watts. For the mids/highs I have two Infinity referrence 6.5s up front with a Rockford Prime R125 putting out 140 watts to the front two speakers. For the rear I have two Alpine Type S 6x8s ran off my Kenwood Kdc-mp345u head unit. My electrical is a stock alt, Die Hard Platinum Deep Cycle under the hood, big 3 done in 0 gauge Knukoncepts wire, and 4 gauge wir…

I am going to change it from: "The pinnacle of sound & output" to: "We don't warranty stupid" I would like to thank Nick Morgan, as it was his slogan, we are just borrowing it. From something simple and professional, to something that hammers home our warranty policy.

hi there, i'm getting a pair of 15inch xcon pretty soon and i'm working on my box design. They'll go in an 2004 elantra gt, so hatchback. subs up, port on one side (a 10inch sonotube) with enough clearance to breath. amp is an mtx te4001d, so around 4k watt to the pair. -what's the subs displacement? -cutout -is one 10inch sono enough (box is 7.2 before all displacement, so pretty on the small size) gives around 12f -how do you think they'll react in like like 3.2-3.5 feet each? (3.5 if single baffle, otherwise 3.2) -i had tc sound's tc-9 prior, anyone know how does compare? -anything i should know about these beside that? thanks for the help in advance

Reposting to see if I can get it to work for him. So last night I took around an hour or so to write up some huge review on my new pair of 18'' Sound Solution Audio Xcons. Unfortunately there was a url glitch and the thread is gone, so I will try to sum up my product review instead of another 5000 word essay. The SSA Xcon is an amazingly solid driver that has absurd amounts of low end output (off little power might I add) and still acts incredibly responsive, the sound quality of this sub does not hold back its ability to "get loud" one bit. I feel that the Xcon is a very under appreciated driver in today's market, so luckily for you all interested in this sub, I'm taking…

I am trying to decided between an ICON and XCON 12" sub. I have a 1.1CF sealed box and plan on sending 1200W RMS to the sub. Which driver is a better fit for this power. I like the XMAX gains when stepping up to the XCON, but I am just not sure if I can make use of that excursion given 1200W. Thoughts?

So i just purchased a 1st generation 15" icon from Big E! (great guy) And i've decided to take some pictures and post 'em up here! I had to take the pictures anyways since i have to send them to the real owner of the sub. I decided that there might be a few guys up here who would appreciate seeing them as well! It's also kind of a part 2 for my review on Big E as a seller. I tried to capture the very minimal inperfections.

Could someone please confirm the exact cut-out diameter for a new Icon 12"? The Sketch-Up seems to indicate just over 11", but I would like to confirm before touching saw to MDF. Thanks!

Do you guys think the icons sound better in sealed or ported box? Being that the sq, and power are neutral.

Hi All, I purchased a 1.48 cubic foot box for a 12 inch Icon that I was purchasing, since it was the optimal size box after the sub displacement. However, through some serious luck and acts of nature, I was sent a 12 inch Xcon instead of the Icon. The sub is being powered by a SAE-1200D at 1 ohm in the back of my 2004 Impala. While the Xcon sounds great and is finally breaking in, it seems to want a bigger box. The sub is crossed at 80hz, and hits really hard in the 40 to 50 hz range, but below that it seems to run out of steam fast. I am guessing that this is due to the small box. I don't have the funds to have a new box built right at the moment, so I was wondering…
