I am gonna be building a sealed enclosure for my 15" xcon it will be powered by 300rms Its gonna be going in the front of my living room, Should I fire the sub down or point it at the wall? What size should my enclosure be for good deep bass response in a sealed setup? Any ideas or tips?

There will be a short bit of having the ICON out of stock as we prepare for the release of the new ICON. Totally rebuilt and re-engineered from the ground up! Complete with custom cooling, new coils, better power handling. That's all we are saying at this point about it, but this will be one hell of a driver when it's complete. Thanks for your understanding.

Hey Guys, Just wanted to give an update to how my system has been progressing over this past year, particularly with my subwoofer. I've taken some pictures so you guys can take a look at it for yourself. So let me go ahead and state there is no bashing here towards SSA or F.i. has a build house, this is just what I've experienced. But first, let me go ahead and explain my driving habbits. I take a lot of road trips. Anywhere from 3-6 a year. Which most average around the 7 hour mark. Also, I do a lot of driving around as well. Prior to my new job that started in just this past October, I had a 40 mile round trip to work. Outside of that, I also go driving around downt…

  6. While i'm waiting on my triple XCON box from trevor for the Santa Fe, decided to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. Having a box built by Argent for these ICON's and going to be doing some abusing in the absence of the XCONs. Here's what we have so far.... 2 of these are mine, 2 are for Ernie's Civic.

Picked up a Dcon D4 for a really good price to throw into my little .6 sealed box. Wasn't expecting much,WELL I was wrong. I turned it up and it started to make my ears hurt and set off the neighbors alarm. Now I haven't adjusted the gain, etc, just wanted to make sure everything was working.Look like I have some fun ahead. I do have a question...Should I run it with 450rms or the full 600rms. I have been told that 600rms is no problem?

  8. Started by Aaron Clinton,

Name will be finalized shortly, as will specs, price and availability, so if you ask any of those questions I don't have an answer just yet. This is long over due, as we have needed an 8" sub for a decade now. Those of you who have been along for the ride, might remember we had a Dcon8 built 9 years ago, but production never happened due to cost of making it here in the USA. Production has not been kicked off yet, but we are VERY close. Some minor changes inside (unable to be seen from photos below) are being made to the design before we kick off. I am very pleased from the performance of the prototype and the output is very strong for an 8. It is a lower Qts.…

Today I wrapped up our testing on the final prototype Icon. We are going to production very shortly now. The long story short, the Icon is ready. It was really tested in depth today, ALL kinds of music, from passive listening to full clip for a long time. Not once was there any sign of thermal limits. This new version keeps that same full, warm and surrounding bass the original Icon was known for, bringing a little more punch and attack with an upgrade of added power handling and thermal limits and a little more abuse tolerance. By the way, the Icon bulked up 4 lbs. REALLY happy with this new version, we have something special in this power segment. More pix and v…

Ok well I got my SSA XCON 12's awhile ago, and my SAZ-1500 D sundown audio amps. I waited a while to hook it all up to get everything I needed for the install. I installed them today, took me about 6 hours cause i wanted to make sure everything was perfect, and the way it was suppose to be. Well obviously I did something wrong because I ran into some problems. I would like some help to find out what I did wrong if anything, or if I just have shitty luck. I hooked it all up, I was liking the sound. Later on during the experience through the day I noticed they weren't hitting as hard as they were at first. Here and there i'd smell something like plastic burning. I sealed th…

  13. I love the look of the SSA subwoofers but I wonder.... Why are they priced the way they are? I don't doubt the pricing but I want to know what it is about them that makes them worth it? Please try to be specific/technical in your answer. Thanks!

How much of a difference is there between the current xcon and the original with the boob dust cap? I know the newest ones have no more pole vent, but that's about all I know besides the aesthetic of the cone/dust cap. Could they be used in the same box?

  17. Let me start off by saying that the sub in question is in non functioning condition right now, so I can't make any changes or adjustments to see what helps. I am trying to decide on a recone, or another sub choice. I had the sub (D1 coils) running at 2 ohm on a BRZ2400.1D in a 3.2ft^3 net sealed enclosure. 1/0 wire from front battery to a XS D3100 in the rear and then to the amp. I had the LPF set at 80hz with 24db slope and subsonic all the way down on the amp (15hz I think). I have a fairly eclectic music choice, but listen to rock and hip-hop mostly. This thing would hit the lows(40-30hz) nicely. I had a slight tickle in my throat and could visually see my door panel…

how much would it be to put a new dust cap or cone( or whatever the correct term is) on a 15" ICON? It is brand new only played music for maybe 30 minutes im guessing and then a friend put a beer on my sub without me knowing and it hit and now has a huge crack in it. sucks to not have it in after all the waiting ive already done.

does the xcon sound nicer? im assuming so just because its a sq based woofer but i dont know for a fact. and how do they compare in spl? this guy i know has 4 15" dd 3500s with about 1300 - 1400 rms going to each one and metered a 153 on the termlab. would that be a do-able score with 4 15" xcons on their rated 1750 rms?

SSA Dcon 15" Due to a large number of PM's and emails over time, with some design tweaks to the existing design, the Dcon line is able to grow. Please excuse the grainy cell phone picture, as my camera is packed for my move this weekend and I was excited to post up the news asap. Introducing the very first Dcon 15. No, we don't need to send it out for free demo's, because I know people will ask. I will post specs once we are set and ready to go with these to production. Box designs will follow, it probably wont be as low Qts as the 10" and 12" model are I believe, lending to a more average size box, compared to the smaller then average size boxes for the 10" and 1…

So, I'm ducking impatient. Got the box from the local installer today.... very happy and checked it for leaks .....found zero. Installed the subwoofer. Made my own terminals. Sort of stole an idea someone was using home depot terminals but went with nicer looking copper ones... brass bolts and some really nice 8 gauge wires... so far the XCON is amazing!! Dialed ba ck in my gain as well cuz it was too strong or authoritative I'd say. Will post some pics of the install soon....

  24. Ok, this is just a test feeler for SERIOUS interest. We have not finalized the added cost or pricing yet, so don't ask. Weight wise, they are nearly identical to the current caps being used on the SSA Icon and SSA Xcon (possible convex cap for the Zcon). Below is what the 10" Xcon looks like with the Carbon Fiber cap installed (thank you to Duran for the work and Sean DeYoung for the picture). If we were to offer it, it would be a limited edition, upgrade option. Tell us your thoughts. We really like the looks of it.
