Some backstory about me..... OK, I've been into audio for a few years. I always ran what the locals consider inferior or off brand subs. There's just something great about running paper cone house subs (adire audio shivas) and beating everyone in town in the spl comps I wanted to improve on my previous score of 148.7 on the dash using 2 shivas. (The meter was a terrasonde xmeter that I suspect measures about 6-8 db higher than a TL) I ran 2 S15L7's for about a year and only hit a 150.5 on that same meter. I was still the loudest person in town, but I know in the spectrum of spl comps, that setup was a joke. I decided to build a wall that summer. Well, after some tr…

I feel like a little kid waiting on christmas to open presents. I have been reading over and over on this forum. I just placed an order for 2 Icon 12d1 subs and a Sundown sae1200 amp. Once they come in a build log with pics will follow. I have heard nothing but great things about the customer support from SSA that really sold me along with all the people on this forum backing it up. I know I will be very happy with this decision. I am excited, can't wait, and had to share it. I am sure many of you have had this feeling before.

Ive spent all day trying to figure out how to calculate ports and design a box that would fit in my truck like i want it, now im wondering is it even worth it? In yalls opinion what would sound better for a 10" dcon, a small ported box or the optimum sealed. Either box would be sitting in the center of the backseat with the sub firing up in a Crew Cab Colorado. Amp would give 420+ RMS at 2 Ohms or 210+ RMS at 4 Ohms. Just dreaming atm but thats half the fun. Thanks in advance for all the help

hi i have a bxi 2610d and now im looking for good woofer(s) and narrowed it down to xcon or l7. my goal is to hit the lows damn good and im not concerned in higher frequenzies. in other words i want to shacke my whole car, maybe hairtrick, window shacke, etc. either id get 2 15" l7 or 1 18" xcon. both setups would be in the max recommended ported enclosure. but personally ive never heard an xcon and dont have the chance to do it.

Posted up on DIYma: After a few weeks, there's not much I can say other than this is the best sub I've ever owned. It's simply amazingly accurate. It's perfect for the setup I had envisioned for my car: single amp driving passives up front and sub with the rear channel. Small sub box, moderate power requirements. I bought the single 4-ohm version, which gets fed a healthy 400 watts from my Exile amp. Low-pass is around 90Hz, higher than I want, but my Alpine mids are the limiting factor right now. These days I mostly listen to electronica, but I've had the Focal CD's downloaded for some time now. I finally got them burned to CD, and thought what the hell, it's been a whi…

And if so how would these compare to two level four 12's? Kinda coming from two ends of a spectrum, but I am just tossing around ideas for the next system and am wanting to start pretty soon.

I just bought 2 10" dcons, and now i need to build an enclosure. Im just not sure what what style I should do. They're going into my 1990 bmw 325i. The trunk is pretty much a steel coffin, there is no opening in the rear seat or anything. What i was thinking of doing is removing the rear speakers and porting directly through those holes (1 port per sub). Anyways, what box style best suits these subs? Should I go with subs facing rear, porting through the top? Some have suggested I build a bandpass setup, but I have no idea how to make one of those. If anyone feels kind enough to make up some blueprints, the trunk space I have to work with is 15.5" high by 3ft wide, and as…

Well, I ended up pushing my sub too hard and fried one of the tinsel leads. So now I'm rethinking what I want to do. After looking around the SSA store, I think I've decided to go with a DCON with the single 4 ohm coil option. My amp does 300 @ 4 ohms and 600 @ 2 ohms. I plan on running just a single one for now, and adding a second one in a few months (once the weather warms up and I can build a box for them). Sound like a good plan? I've been wanting to try some SSA's for a while now.

Here's a few shots that JBLCAMRY took of his new subs. He has four of these going into his little GEO ground pounder. These are still in the prototype stage and being tested by JBLCAMRY to make sure they can hang with our quality of woofers. New Features include: -- Extra Stiff suspension for better power handling -- XCON type dustcap -- Sandwiched Tinsel Leads Enjoy Once we are happy with the outcome of this, we will post official pics of them. Hope you guys are as excited as we are about these.

Well, we spent some money today . What we spent it on was a professionally produced video for SSA Sub's. John, who is producing the video currently has 3 Video's on MTV! Just looking at the footage we took, this video should be like nothing you've seen before as far as excursion videos go. Also, we plan to stream this on the home page and our youtube home page. Editing should take a few days. Hopefully he doesn't get side tracked in the process. Here's a little pic I took while he was working. Link to his other video's: john colombo on Vimeo UPDATE: btw, the guy in the video is our very own Sound=Vibration from SSA forums...

I have had my Dcon's for a while now and I must say I am very impressed with how loud these little 10's can get while sounding great at the same time. At the time of thier arrival I did'nt really have the money to get a custom enclosure made so a friend of mine sold me an dual 10" audioenhancers enclosure he had laying around in his garage. He showed me the specs of the enclosure on the internet (3.18 cu. ft. at 33hz) and I figured that would be fine for them. Since i've had them I've always noticed that they hit the lower low notes but did not produce as much volume from them as I was expecting without me cranking the gains on my head unit. Today I finally checked the sp…

I've been eyeing the Dcons for a month or two and now that the price was dropped I'm defineatly getting three. I just don't know if i want tens or twelves. My question is how much wattage is safe for them? I plan on running them with an Elemetal Desings Nine.1 at one ohm for 1200 watts. I know the Dcon's are rated for three hundred watts and my amp is underatted and with my electrical upgrades I'd be at 1400-1500 watts. With all that said should i just go easy on the gains or downgrade my amp?

Hello, It is just a little review of my last subwoofer. I was running an Icon 15 dvc 2 in a 3.5 cubic feet box tuned at 32 Hz. The box was designed by Fisher customs and built by a friend for his xcon. He since, changed box, so I managed to get the old one! The Icon is one of the most accurate sub I've ever heared. I love the fact that it is loud but can play ALL the bass notes. Lot of subs plays all the notes, but this one is quite flat : like if all the notes are played at the same (high) volume. (My vocabulary is limited, so I can't really explain everything as I would !!!) The amp is a Sundown saz 1000 d. My car is a hatchback Toyota Auris.
