I am planning on going with a SSA Evil 15 in a blow through in my regular cab Nissan Hardbody. I was planning on running 4000rms to it....maybe a pinch bit more. I know there aren't many of these in people's rides just yet, but for those that know, how well will this beast take 4000rms? -and I'm gunna have the electrical all done,too....just fyi- Thanks in advance -John-

Hey i just got my 12" icon D1 in last week and i must say i like it! It's in a 2.2cuft box tuned to 32hz powered by a jbl gto1201.1(1100rms rated) with 0 gauge knu wiring. It slams the lows like crazy. My last setup was a pioneer 3004spl in a 1.75cube box tuned to 32hz. Now the icon is classified as a sq woofer but it blows the pioneer out of the water in both sq and spl. I love how i can turn down the gains and lpf if i want some smooth clean bass and then set my gains to 40hz @ -6db and have bass that literally rattles my rearview mirror right off. I was looking at DCON box plans on the SSA technical section. They list the optimal single DCON 12 ported at 2.25 cu ft with 32.5 sq in of port. Then the dual DCON optimal is listed at 3.28 cu ft with 45 sq in of port. I was looking at running three DCON 12's sealed in the trunk of my Eldorado with the optimal 1.25 net per sub to save space. Well after looking at the optimal ported box for 2 12's I'm wondering what the optimal for 3 12's ported would be. My max box width is 38", max height 15" and depth up to 24". It's perfect for the setup I had envisioned for my car: single amp driving passives up front and sub with the rear channel. Small sub box, moderate power requirements. i just purchased 2 10" icons for my 2003 mitsu evo 8. i need help with the best box design for my trunk. im looking for the loudest set up i can get. so far im thinking about firing them towards the cabin and have the port fire the same way in a 3cf box tuned to 32hz. there is only a metal cross brace between the seat and trunk. other options are to fire them towards the back and have the port the same way, but i want a custom install so it would be walled off, not sure if this would hurt sound. finally, i was thinking about firing them back and have the ports on top firing through my rear deck speaker holes (i removed my rear deck speakers) and create a kind of ban…

SSA needs thier own team sub

I'm doing a budget system and I'm trying to decide on which sub will work best with my space limit and amp. My space constraint is because I've got to leave enough room to get the stroller in the trunk of my 2001 E class. I'm going to build the box to make best use of the space I've got. Based on my calculations I can get up to about 2.25 CF slot ported tuned to 30hz. It's going to have to be long and rather shallow but should work. That will give me enough space to meet the optimal enclosure spec for either a 12" DCON or a 10" GCON. The 10" GCON needs 1.75-2.0 CF tuned to 28-33hz The 12" DCON needs 2.25 CF tuned to 28-33hz I'm going to be using a powerbass ASA 400.2x …

how much would it be to put a new dust cap or cone( or whatever the correct term is) on a 15" ICON? It is brand new only played music for maybe 30 minutes im guessing and then a friend put a beer on my sub without me knowing and it hit and now has a huge crack in it. sucks to not have it in after all the waiting ive already done.

I have a zapco 9.0xd, 2200@ 4 ohms and I have a saz3500, 3500@1 ohm. Which would be the better choice for a pair of xcon 12's for the best sq? Car is an Audi A6. I like the idea of running them at 4ohms and it would be easier om the electrical but is 1100 each enough?

So i was waiting patiently for the Xcons to arrive. After working for 26 hours i had to stay awake to make sure they made it into the house safely. Of course i got the same ol' thing from the driver, "This thing is heavy as hell" talk. As i put down the second sub i noticed some prick penetrated the box!! In any other scenario this would be normal but not this time. This is what i saw... My first thought was,"OH SHIT!! that better have not gone through the surround!!"

Hey, my enclosure is 2.2 cubes and tuned to 32hz for the 12" icon, but that feeling of upgradeing is kicking in. Instead of selling it, I want to make some more enclosures for it to keep me occupied. I need a few plans...so what volume and tunning would you recommend. Give me some ideas...

A week ago I posted in the speaker forum about 1 of my xcons getting hot while the other stayed cool and I figured out what happened with the wires getting mixed up but then today when I fixed the speaker wires the speaker would not work at all. When I push the sub in it is not locked or make any screaching noise. The leads seem to be fine. There looks like there might be a slight tear in the spider. Would a recone fix this or would it need to be sent out? Also how much does 1 cost for 15"xcon If there is anything else anyone can suggest for me to look at the sub or to try it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'm just going to assume this is my fault. But here's the situation. Was riding the other day while at my normal bumping level and smelled something funny. Turned system off and got the sub out today and saw this. I've never really blown a sub before so I don't know how this happened. Was it from too much power? Clipping? Any help would be appreciated. Assuming I will need to get a recone. Will be contacting ssa here soon. All gear is in my sig. No bass boost of any kind was used and everything had been working great for 6 months. I do have a second xcon that is perfectly fine. Is it odd that only one went out?

will the xcon handle 3000rms?? i know it says 1750 rms but i see alot of people over powering it? and can u get any upgrades on this sub >??

As I'm still going through early stages of planning for my upcoming system, I have been trying to figure out the subwoofer combo I can come up with to maximize the output of my vehicle. And as I was looking at different drivers, wanting to stay with SSA, I thought I was set on 6 12" zcons. But for shits and giggles, I looked at the SMD driver as well, and noticed how much less space they require when comparing. Utilizing the demensions I have available, I could potentially comfortably fit 4 18"s SMD drivers. So my question is, being a die hard SSA fan, I was wondering if there are any works in producing a simliar driver. I won't be ready to purchase for at least another 8…
